My cat has just been taken to the Animal Hospital because he took big hit to the face with no other injuries on his body. He hasn't been able to eat and it's very difficult for him to breathe. It's been very traumatic for him and for us but knowing how well animals are cared for these days really makes me feel at ease. Thankyou for posting this video because now I know that similar cases can get better. Lets all hope Jasper will be home for christmas.:) <3
My cat came home with a bashed up face. She can move her jaw but her eyes are bloody and shut and her nose is bloody. She can walk around but luvs the box and blanket I made for her and I have to syringe feed her. No cash for a vet so I hope she heals.
@JBSCAR thank god yes...vet wanted to put her down, but i refused. she enjoyed her box, and my father kept syringe feeding her chicken broth and water and we would clean her face up. she is healed now, and has gained all her weight back, but she sneezes a lot and her left eye doesnt dilate fully, but she is back to playing and running around every morning with our other kitty. thanks for asking:)
Hope Big Cat is doing ok now. Thanks for getting him vet care. Take a look at my "Cat Makes Own Head Disappear video" to see how a cat heals when a broken jaw isn't treated (happened long before I got him).
Intense! I can't believe he survived that. I'm not trying to be a smart ass but how did he get hit in the face with a car? I mean JESUS! From the above description, I'd say he made a miraculous recovery. You said 'half is face is missing', and judging by he looks in this video, you'd never know. Cats are truly amazing animals!
@unfluster Well I think he was running across the street and somehow got 'clipped' in the jaw. He didn't get run over . I think that he was spun around when he got hit because his toes on his paws were pretty scratched up and scarred.
His lower jaw was really bad though. Not trying to be too descriptive, but it was basically jammed up into the back of his head. That's why half of his face looked missing.
hope your cat comes out ok. pain isn't the same for animals as people. probably because they don't make it worse worry about future disability or pain....it just hurts now. I am trying to find someone to help a cat I found in a ditch who got hit by a car, i guess. Broken jaw and needs to have front leg amputated. local shelter wants to put her down, but at least she's been on pain meds. working to get a vet/vets/non-profit to help pay if I take her in.
@kenfo0 So true, so many people just treat any or all animals as 'disposable'. I would have 100 cats and dogs running around, but that's getting a little too crazy.
Since this incident happened 9 months ago, my big cat is pretty much back to normal except for his eye and missing k-9 tooth. He goes outside, but I don't like to leave him out at night. He eats and play-fights with my other cat just as before, like nothing happened!

My 2 year old cat just died few days back because of a jackass who hit her and she had her jaw cracked in half and died.
