I think you've got that a tad wrong, this song was released as itself for charity in 2004 for War Child, they continued their charity work with The Night Sky in 2007.

The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore) was written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio. It was released as a single by Frankie Valli in 1965.

In 1966, The Walker Brothers released their remake as a single, this version met with much greater success than Valli's. It topped the UK Singles Chart and became their highest-charting song on the Billboard 100. In 1981, Nielsen/Pearson released their remake as a single. In 1996, Cher released her remake on her thirtieth album.
