I'm a christian, and mental health can be taken care of through therapy. as an unfortunate victim of psychiatry myself (i went a little bonkers on weed a few times), i can tell you all they do is drug you and ask you stupid questions. because of the drugs, i now have no personality, tremors, general random muscle twitches, shaky teeth. their terminology doesn't make sense to me, but scientology is dead on about the over drugging of our society, to it's detriment.

I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorders and have been taking medications for years.On medication I have gained weight, have less motivation, and I don't feel as "alive", since my range and the depth of my emotions have been effected by the medications. If there is a way other than medication, like natural and safer ways, I would like to hear it.
There is much scientific psychological literature on useful alternative ways to depression if you're still interested. Believe it or not we do do more than assign people drug and send them on their way.
Of course CBT counselling is an excellent alternative to medication in many cases but not all. I think you need a range of approaches. But to simply attack All psychiatry does a great disservice to some wonderful work done by doctors, nurses and counselling specialists. I was diagnosed with Bipolar years ago and only years ago did I find the right medication cocktail. If I go off my meds I become suicidal. On the meds I'm able to focus, I feel smarter and sharper and much happier. Even friends and family noticed a major change in me.
To keep me alive I have to stay on my meds, never drink alcohol, and I can never be a $cientoligist.
Allow me to elaborate on the "years ago". Diagnosed 10 years ago and found the right mix of meds 2 years ago with the help of a specialist. If it weren't for my "evil" psychiatrist I might be dead today.

But I would encourage you to consider that SSRIs are addictive and have withdrawal symptoms that include suicidal ideation.It's now right on the label. When somebody takes an ssri, they often feel like they're losing their mind when they try to quit and many many suicides have been due to the drug.
The secret is to reduce the dosage very slowly. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to ever quit.

Though like anything, psychiatry has both its good and bad side; I think it is a valid institution which can help troubled people. There was a time in my life where I was dealing with some emotional problems; life had become bleak and I could not see a light at the end of the tunnel. Though it did not completely resolve the problems I was dealing with, it did make it a situation I could manage.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar years ago and only years ago did I find the right medication cocktail. If I go off my meds I become suicidal. On the meds I'm able to focus, I feel smarter and sharper and much happier. Even friends and family noticed a major change in me.
To keep me alive I have to stay on my meds, never drink alcohol, and I can never be a $cientoligist.

First let me say I detest Scientology.
But I would encourage you to consider that SSRIs are addictive and have withdrawal symptoms that include suicidal ideation.It's now right on the label. When somebody takes an ssri, they often feel like they're losing their mind when they try to quit and many many suicides have been due to the drug.
The secret is to reduce the dosage very slowly. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to ever quit.

Though like anything, psychiatry has both its good and bad side; I think it is a valid institution which can help troubled people. There was a time in my life where I was dealing with some emotional problems; life had become bleak and I could not see a light at the end of the tunnel. Hardest thing I ever had to do, but I checked myself into a hospital and starting seeing a shrink. Though it did not completely resolve the problems I was dealing with, it did make it a situation I could manage.

That's a total lie. First of all, there are non-Scientologists who are against psychiatry and they CONDEMN the other beliefs of Scientology (which is recognized as a cult). Secondly, there is not one shred of consistent evidence that proves mental illness exists - if you truly ask them to show you any bit of evidence, they will tell you they come to their conclusion based on a voting system of other "professionals" and they judge you solely on behaviour.
