The coolest thing is that if you've heard them for their 40th Reunion gig at Madison Square Garden you'd be amazed how well they still play together for three old Masters . . . . These are some of the Kings, no Michael Jackson shit sounds - - - King of Pop my ass!
@randyreal574 I think Jimi Hendrix had not long hit London-it took all the Guitar players by surprise-I think Clapton said this Afro period was a nod to Jimi. This mimed 'performance' is very odd actually-Clapton looks like needs to go to the Toilet.
@duffinpaul ok thnx, cause im trying to learn some cream songs on bass, and i like this song but couldnt hear the bass, and when i watched the video it kinda made sense :P
This is an early video and appears to be lip synched. Is that a Jaguar guitar (pronounced JEG-u-ar) that Bruce is pretending to play? Although lip synched, I like a lot of these Beat Club videos.
@nonconformistt Yeah, I'm sure you're fully hip to the fact that that 'Clapton solo' is a straight copy of an Albert King solo (the one in 'Oh pretty woman')...
Confused- Looks like Jack on a Gibson SG guitar and Eric on 6 stringed Fender Precision bass- Are they taking the piss because they're miming for TV- or is that Eric with the bad hair?-- But-- what a tune! How amazing is Strange Brew???
The more I listen to the oldies the more I dislike the newbies. Seriously today's music's kind of shit, rock has disappeared and pop is shittier than it ever was
@glenscott1 The thing is today I'm not sure how many kids want to learn an instrument and excel at it when they see reality tv zero-talent people getting famous in 15 mins. Music industry overwhelmed by the internet file sharing play it safe with the dullest acts, and hip hop and djs, how's that making music?
If today's biggest band is Coldplay and best selling solo Adele I'm afraid we're heading for another decade of music oblivion. At least we know the old good stuff isn't going anywhere
@scottj19x89 MTV? does it still exist? ha! I don't even remember last time I watched mtv, as for the radio, it's always been pretty lame apart from rare exceptions. But I wasn't talking about myself, I do find some new good bands now and then. I was talking about today's popular music culture. I don't think it regards hard working talented musicians but easy listen pop, computer made electro stuff or gangsta speaking bull...but it's a matter of taste I guess...
@rippersk8er Yes, I have, they're good not really my thing though. If you read my comment again you'll see that I did say there are a few good bands around nowadays but that is not the point I was making
@rippersk8er Absolutely. I dread to imagine what will come out in 2017 at this rate lol.
Popular music (rock, pop, jazz, and all their sub-genres) had their peak in quality and qantity in the 70s then started to decline slowly but steadily. There were still a few new good things in the 90s and a lot less in the 00s. I don't know if it's because of the music industry, the media or people just got lazy. Real good stuff was mainstream back then, now it's fringe music for a few people
@geomusicmove I think it is because people are too lazy to go and find out what good music there is out there, so they just listen to what they are told to listen and don't have to look for.
@cerealboxcar Yes I agree, today it's more about getting a quick fix rather than stop for a minute and think a little bit, a cultural switch not for the better am afraid, I mean easy music and lazy lyrics. I don't live in the past but in music unfortunately I've no options bar a few exceptions. Before the Bee Gees and Abba were mainstream music but so were Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd so there were more choices, whereas today I don't think the last two would make it
@thatguru877 haha you see it though dont you,, i seriously thought he was randomly synced into some old footage like they did with tom hanks in forest gump lol
@prashantjohn i dont know how you think you know i listen with my eyes...but i think that you should know musician-to-musician that i have been playing guitar sicnce i was 9 and i play bass harmonica drums and i take my music seriously for a youngster (16 right now). Clapton looks like a geek in this one - kinda reminds me of Robert De Niro, making those faces - but Jesus what a band, each musician in complete command. The best of their time.
His hair does look ridiculous and I am of that generation and I would have called it ridiculous in 1968. Ok, maybe 'ridiculous' is a little harsh but Clapton was a nice looking guy and he wasn't doing himself any favors with that hair! Still my top guitarist.

A great number of late 60's/early 70's musicians sported Afro haircuts (the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Mike Bloomfield, to name a few).
Both Jack Bruce and Noel Redding were playing Fender 6-string basses at about the same time period.
What I find difficult to believe here is that Cream actually allowed themselves to be filmed whilst mime-synching with a recording.
