T-mobile is the one distributing the update, so you probably will have to update it on your own.

You don't have to do anything, you'll get a message that there is a new system update and you can choose 'install now' or 'install later' :-)

That notepad is a 3rd party app that is already out there... You can tell because of name, "Note pad" with the space in the middle, and the icon..

"Note Pad" was created by Google. If you read the apps info it says "Note Pad comes from Android SDK, all copyrights belong to Google Inc."

Cupcake branch is still in development. You can install it using a modified bootloader on the G1 but it does not have and can't have (yet) Google Maps, Android Market and don't remember what else. I want it to, it has A2DP, but..... we must wait or find a way to install it without loosing any compatibility and functionality.

So if you put Cupcake on your G1, do you lose things like Google Maps forever? Or will you have to remove it to get back some of those programs?

You don't "loose" those things. They are not on cupcake. Cupcake it's not a software that runs over Android, Cupcake it's a version of Android. Sadly, no one was able (yet) to install YouTube, IM, Gmail, Calendar, Market and AmazonMP3 on Cupcake. But it's possible to install Maps on Cupcake.

That piece of software it's just an adhoc solution. But the real hardware assisted, codec saving, real video formated thing it's being developed.

you have to download it off the market but its not the best video recodering but its good

finally Arabic locale, im also liking the new animations and cant wait for A2DP support. hopefully they'll get to make the browser much more smoother (much like iphone's safari), and hopefully (last but not least) they'll get to make it use the battery more efficiently.
