Also, the fact that he is showing you his back is a warning. Usually you just see the eyes and nostrils. I guess if the guy in the video wants to piss-off gators and film their responses that's his business, I'm an adrenaline junkie myself so I get it, but just don't blame the gator. This isn't an attack....it's a nervous reaction to a perceived threat.

With all due respect, I wish this video were titled: "alligator defends itself". I kayak in the LA bayous and as long as I leave the gators alone they leave me alone. In fact, just this Wednesday I was out there and accidentally spooked a 12-14' bull (big boy!) and all he did was drop into the water and lay low until I passed over him. The gator in this video feels cornered and threatened, and when the guy's right hand breaks a branch the gator (who has very sensitive hearing) responds.

Not really. That video was filmed during the begining of the wet season. The water looks deep, but only around 10 inches deep. Would have been difficult to tip. In a month or so we will be on the look out for nests so I might be posting up some more of these videos.
