The ceremony for President Ford was driven by family request. Although the full pomp was included in plans for the president, the family opted to go with less formal ceremonies, although they were quite grandeur. (they still had arrival and departures ceremonies, Lying in State and a service at the National Cathedral)

No pun intended, but I found the Ford state funeral to be very disappointing as it was not on the scale as the Reagan state funeral. There was not as much ceremonial pomp and pagentry, there was no riderless horse, nor was there a caissons which carried the coffin to the Capitol Building. If this country doesn't want to perform state funerals correctly as we have done for past presidents, then we should not do them at all.

@Kildruf79 maybe because he was not in the same caliber as Reagan who has gone down as the Best President in recent memory while Ford is often remembered as the clumsy boffoon who had to step in. No Offense to Ford but he was just not cut out to be President.

I've heard Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford were good friends, so although he lost to him in '76, i'm sure it wasn't a bad defeat for him. He was a good President, had alot of rubbish to deal with, shame he didn't get longer in Office.

Gerald (Grand Rapids, Michigan) Ford was one of our best presidents in my opinion. His time was short and he was never elected. The Largo from the 9th Symphony sounds a lot like the Maranantha tune "As the Deer" to me.

People should know that the 747 Presidential fleet of both SAM 28000 and SAM 29000 are not allowed to use the call sign "Air Force One" when it carries the dead corpse of a former President. "Air Force One" is exclusively used for a living President whuile serving a term in office.
