"At times you tuffness go you by, But deep within dolphins made you cry. That which you have kept & stored, Can now be given to Your Lord. For in death you are not defeated, At the Right Hand of God, Eartha....go & be seated". This is an excerpt from my poem "Tribute to Ol' Sweetness" that was published in 2000. I felt the strong influence to pass this along to Eartha & any1 that I come across whom I know is befitting of this eloquence. We will miss You, Eartha, but never will we forget You!!
I meet her in Miami when I was 10 years old. She was performing tim buk tu. I went back stage and greeted her with total admiration she gave the same back to me. Then When I lived and worked in carnaby street London England I had the honer to meet her again.
She was still amazing and I keep her in my heart forever. So great to see other people have done the same.
I remember greeting her at The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, in 1986, upon her arrival from LAX... We walked her dog on the parvis of Notre Dame du Monde Cathedral (a week before the visit of Jean Paul II)... She was wearing about a ton of make up. We talked about her new hit single for the Fight Againt Aids campaing... I remember a great sense of humour (as caustic as mine). RIP Mrs Kitt.
i first heard eartha in 1957 i was 11.and was instantly hooked and have been a fan all my life.i was in uk christmas day when i herd the tragic news.eartha you will always be remembered.for your voice, pete
I can't believe I'm just now knowing that she has passed. Catwoman??? you are so ignorant to remember her as such. She was a moving person, a poet, an actress, and I will remember her moving performance forever which I heard in the 60's "all by myslef" long before another did it. she was something else and a beautiful lady.
ha, ha ignorant ? that's how I was introduced to her as a child. I remember her 4 more then just Catwoman.Don't get it twisted. I may be her biggest fan.
well at least she was into men black or white. So what she is still a black Icon. who opened doors for a lot of people. Do you know why she was exiled for awhile and lived in France? The orginal Cat woman.R.I.P Ms. Kitt
@reg1167 Eartha is my IDOL but your facts are wrong. Julie Newmeur (sp) was the first catwoman. Google it. Although I loved Eartha's performance She is a legend.
Oh Folks we are running out of legends, true originals with that "little something extra". We must all stop celebrating the mediocre and shout out loud for those who really enrich our lives.
Excellent Video. We can all learn from her about the courage to speak out with truth! Even when it is hard to do so.God Bless our nation with people who really care about others & are willing to stand in their defense as she did with criticism of the Vietnam War.
