  • Thanx for giving us another look back at a great time in music. When talent meant somethin, and melody in a song made us lose our minds.

  • @Lemon5eed The songs used were "Candy Rain" by Soul For Real, "One In A Million" by Aaliyah, "Someone" by SWV, "Jump Jump" by Kriss Kross, and "I Can't Stand The Rain" by Missy Elliot.

  • @xoxoPrincess24 LOL, I mean it's the truth! Everyone who isn't affiliated with him no longer have careers anymore...sad...

  • @xoxoPrincess24 Haha, school these fools Lycia!

  • @xoxoPrincess24 LSG baby!

  • uh I was diggin this until early on you said before artist like, ",...Jay Z" uh the nineties GAVE us Jay- Z, mid NINETIES to be exact. And stop bein a hypocrite!! U clearly do not like auto-tune; Lil Wayne, T pain and I assume Kanye West, who is the ONLY artists who had the balls, The ONLY one to make a whole record aGAINST that style of music/hip hop and R&B, thats right is was JAY Z with DOA (U DO know it stands for right?) so get your facts right. Jay Z is all we have left of the BIG/Pac era

  • @CubbieBear1980 Well regardless of if you were "diggin this" or not, I appreciate you watching. However, Jay Z may have been around in the 90s, but his music now is not all that to me. A lot of people are tired of Jay Z, whether you realize it or not. Jay Z seemed to have blown up more in the 21st century than in the 90s, and I think Pac and Biggie are both better rappers than Jay Z. Maybe if he stops acting like he's everybody's daddy, he might would get more respect.

  • Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, and Patti Labelle are some of the artists that I listen to.

  • @jigglegirl601 Great list of artists jigglegirl!

  • This is a wonderful video. The music from the 60s to the early 2000s was much better. Today's music sucks. Back in the days, it was about real talent, but now it is all about sex, image, money, technology. I miss the old school music. I only listen to the old school music. It is the best.

  • @jigglegirl601 Thank you for watching! Yes, I wish music executives behind the current state of "music" could check out this video and other tribute videos and see how far they fallen!

  • Correction. Beyonce was around in the late 90's only she was getting started with Destiny's Child as a younger music group.

  • @shisper89 so was Jay-Z, this kid has great intentions but terrible history. And even if YOU hate Jay Z, the fact remains that ONE; the nineties gave us Jay, TWO; it was the MID Nineties so its not like he 'made the 90s' by the skin of his teeth like 98/99. No it was like 95/6! THREE he is the only artist, ONLY artist whether rap or R&B who came out against Tpain/Auto tune which this cat admits he does not like in the 1st place and most of us concur that its the cancer on both genres!

  • Ahhh! Groove Theory. So good. :) And I think there is still real talent out there, but it's been pushed underground. Plus, people are using music media other than the mainstream radio - youtube (and videos like these), mp3 download apps, and other sites to listen to good music. I think there will soon be a comeback of quality music on the radio when people finally get fed up of what's available to them now.

  • @rychousmama Thanks for checking this out! Maybe real music will come back, we'll see, but I don't think music will ever be as exciting and funky as 90s, 80s, 70s, etc. music!

  • @xoxoPrincess24 Yep...I think it was the BET Awards. Actually Keith Seat didn't sound that bad but he didn't sound like he used to and Aaron Hall was struggling like a MF LOL!!!! I just remember being surprised that they all sounded out of practice. Just seems that if you had it at one point..there shouldn't be any reason to never lose it...but maybe that's why they say if you don't use you'll lose it ;D Maybe that can apply to singing as well but if there's talent.I just don't see how.

  • @xoxoPrincess24 LOL!!! Have you heard Johnny Gill lately??? Girl...there was some award show on a few years ago and they had all the old skool singers on thee from the 90's and they ALL sounded like Crap! Keith Sweat, Aaron Hall, Johnny gill...i was like Day-Uummmmmm!!! That was crazy!

  • @xoxoPrincess24 No..I'm sorry. maybe Ralph and Bobby could sing but the other 3??? Have you ever listened to those vocals when they were BBD? Not good at all ;D

  • @xoxoPrincess24 LOL! That's ok that it's kind of old now, I appreciate all the feedback! Exactly, although artists in the past used it, they still had talent! Rihanna can't sing to save her life, lord hammercy! LOL!

  • TLC I miss the 90s!!

  • Wow I knew all of these and I'm in todays generation. I hang around my mother to much I think.

  • @brittneymaxwell Good for you! Thanks for watching!

  • old skoo mix on my channel

  • wow our generation screwed up, 1990's good music now i dnt no wat talent is

  • @ziggy36CB So true! Thanks for watching!

  • Great effort, thank you for the time you took to honor these great artists of our recent history. Each generation will have there stars as this is the evolution (not necessarily progress) of our music. I enjoy a few of todays artists (word used very loosely). But much of what I hear today could not be appreciated by myself a decade from now...thanks for the trip down memory lane...

  • @RCLEE23 Awww, thank YOU so much for watching and appreciating this video!

  • Uhh Jay Z has been around for a really long time.

  • i love this video and glad you put michael here. i was born in 89 so i was around the good talented artists you named. even in the early 2000s you still had talented and real singers. i don't want to knock the singers of today because people are so quick to put them down but half of these so called singers shouldn't even be famous. give the real artists shine.

  • whats the first song call?

  • @XXXXNanoXXXxxx Candy Rain by Soul For Real. Thanks for watching!

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's downright painful to listen to the radio nowadays. Most times I can't even bring myself to do it...

  • @darkchrmr I'm glad you see what I'm saying cause some people are tone deaf, lol, but thanks for watching!

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's downright painful to listen to the radio nowadays. Most times I can't even bring myself to do it...

  • Whoa Whoa Whoa...Wait a minute Beyonce started out in Destiny Child so she she be included to. I still love the rest of the list though.

  • @JshrBs01 Beyonce was a solo artist in the 2000s, so that's why I didn't include her as a solo artist in this tribute. Thank you for watching.

  • @JshrBs01 yes, for real.

  • ahw i was born in '95 but i know all the great RAP and R&B-artists of the 90's as well .. just the best time. I'm glad i know what real music is. Great tribute!!

  • @xGOSSIPGIRL95 The fact that you're only 15 and know what real music is says a lot! Thanks for watching!

  • I love this video! if you dont know half of these ppl you are a youngsta! Lets these 00 kids know girl! this is REAL MUSIC before white corporate messed it up.

  • @NuwaniDeNubianLadyIE Thank you so much for watching and just for that comment on white corporate America, I'm going to subscribe to your channel!

  • man i miss the 90's

  • this is all i listen to...i don't really like r&b and hip hop now

  • @Baunkuikui Yeah I tried to pull all the best out of the 90s...LOL...thanks for watching!

  • The 90's-I wish it never left us! Why did it leave us? I know life moves on but we need it back! Im an '88 kid and grew up listening to great R&B-Mary J,Dru Hill,Boyz II Men,TLC,Aaliyah! HIP HOP-Pac,BIG,Busta,DMX,Bone Thugs N' Harmony, Spice 1! 90's please come back, please come back cause Im like my buddy babygirl77518, "Where is the talent now"?!

  • @DJLMovieGuy Thanks for checking this out! I wish it never left us either cause everything (90%) sucks. It's sad really. I'm an '88 kid as well so I know what you mean! However, after watching the MJ videos over the weekend and hearing people comment on how he is live, I'm starting to feel like I should have been born in the early 80s! LOL

  • @xoxoPrincess24 LOL great question! Some people act like they forgot about the R&B and Hip Hop artists I captured. I don't know what to say about entertainment now days. It has reached it's all time low. Thanks for watching!

  • I mean... i wouldn't buy any music of today too... cos nothin' can compare to 90's music. It isn't really a wonder why music is whack nowadays... if they don't make any money you can't get any special music... that's the fact....

  • @djblacjamz That's true! Maybe if they make music that's worth buying, people would actually pay money for the songs and albums like they did back in the day. Thanks for watching!

  • @babygirl77518

Radiohead's Thom Yorke said it best. People download music because there is nothing for them to purchase. Music today is for fucking teenyboppers.

  • It all started with the internet, downloadin tracks for free... ppls still don't understand that music is not alike! If you love the music you had to buy it! The Music.. especially (BLACK) Music was gettin more badly and more badly because of ppls are downloadin'. First HipHop bite the dust... after that R&B followed. I hate questions like "why is the music not like this anymore" and besides in the background they downloadin music.... it's just a shame.

  • @djblacjamz Very true, the Internet has hurt the business world.

  • @djblacjamz i agree but ppl that were downloading old school music, its hard to find these cds in the stores. But I agree that since we are 90s rnb and hiphop fans we should go back to buying there music. We should tell these stores to carry more of it as well.

  • I wish the ppl who rap 2 day would just go away and never come back cuz they music sucks :EX SOULJA BOY AND LIL WAYNE: 2PAC ALL DAY BABYBEH HE`S THE ONLY RAPPER I HAVE ON MY MP3 THUG LIFE R.I.P TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR

  • @2pac4life400 You are so right I really don't see what people see in Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne! Both are disgraces to hip hop and just music period.

  • Nicely put together! MISS THE 90s!!!

  • Thanks you! Thanks for watching and it's obvious you love the 90s too by your username LOL!

  • LOL. Your welcome.

  • I love the 90s!! some people say that there is gonna be a music revolution and there will be a wave of really talented artists again..I'm not too sure bout that but I hope so!!

  • @apester187 Me too! LOL, you know what, I really don't think there will ever be any artists like what I captured in this video! It just seems like music gets worse and worse every year! Even the award shows these days are horrible...that's all because there's not really any talented artists out!

  • That was a COOL video!!! Now that was some REAL talent back in the 90's, OMG tho..the ohter night..Mariah was on Lopez Tonight singing Obsessed or Obsession..whatever lol ... but she sounded HORRIBLE. I looked at my man and was like WTF???? He's the music biz and he said that for some reason they didn't use Protools on her voice for that performance. I think she may have been a bit tipsy too tho b/c they were helping her stand and walk and other stuff about her but we all have "off" nights.

  • Thank you for watching!! Yes singers back then were very talented and I think A LOT of other people feel the same way! LOL, I'm sorry to hear about Mariah being tipsy on stage, but you know, she sounded bad when she performed "I'll Be There" at Michael Jackson's Memorial! I think she was upset, but yeah, her voice may be going away, just like Whitney Houston's! LOL Protools! How about Mary J Blige? What do you think about her?

  • When Mary J FIRST came on the scene, I was not feeling her but it was after seeing a video of her's and I could see that emotion on her face and her presence and I was all in after that. I can't reember which video but it was during her first album. That's My Girl! lol I'm even cool with her using the voice distortion on her song One LOL

  • Ok yeah because a lot of people say that Mary J Blige was more talented back in the 90s than now. Sometimes I do think some of the songs she sings now are a bit boring compared to like her "Share My World" album! Oh yeah, and I have another video about good tv being gone. You probably remember a lot of the shows. Check it out!

  • LOL..I've heard the same thing too! People saying how they liked her better when she was sad and depressed lmao!!!! They know they're wrong!!! Girl did you hear about Mariah being drunk during some award show?? I told you I thought she was tipsy on the Lopez show lol. Oh well. I'll check out that TV video you did.

  • I'm sorry, but I think Mary was better too! It seems like now she's trying to keep up with this "auto-tune" era of music. This is killing REAL music, seriously. Now the artists I featured in this presentation, I don't remember any of them using that thing constantly! If they did, let me know...LOL...I did see Mariah on YouTube! She looked high as I don't know what! It's amazing how she has changed her style because when she first came on the scene, she was always dressed! Now she's half naked!

  • Well...lol...my boyfriend, who's in the music biz and has worked with bobby Brown back during his glory days, told me that the whole auto tune thing started with New Edition. Mariah has been mrried and is older so she's shed that good girl image and this may be the Real Mariah that we're seeing nowadays.

  • LOL, New Edition? I love those guys' music, but I thought it started with Roger Troutman? Wow, he worked with Bobby Brown? I'm sure he is hard to work with! And you may be right about Mariah too.

  • Yeah..Roger with the vocal distortion and New Edition for the auto-tune/pitch correction cuz they couldn't sing ;D

  • New Edition could sing! LOL, Ralph Tresvant had a cute voice!

  • and why do you think that was? It's one thing to sing "normally" but when you're performing and you have to project your voice, that's a different story and there are very few singers that can pull that off without the use of some electronic help. Like I said, my baby has the inside track on them. It was news to me to learn that pitch correction was out back in the 80's,

  • @ttopcar well it's a lot more "singers" these days that need pitch correction than it was in the 80s! people had more talent back then...LOL....

  • True! cuz you needed talent back in them days or else record labels wouldn't even look at you. You could look sloppy as all hell but as long as you could sing or sing and dance, they'd spend the money to fix you up. Not today though.

  • @ttopcar I know right! I really wish the record labels would go back to that old school mentality they had. If they had stayed that way, half of these singers wouldn't even had got a break! Now I do think Neyo is good and there's a smooth R&B singer named Calvin Richardson. He sings real R&B, but that's about it!

  • Oh yeah...there are some talented ones out there right now and ones from the 90's and early 2000 but for the majority of artist..blah...lol I even like that one chick..she's new and I haven't heard much of her stuff but she sounds like a younger Mariah, just more powerful vocals.

  • Yeah! The early 2000s did have good music...like that whole Murder Inc era was nice I thought (Ashanti, Ja Rule, Irv Gotti, Lloyd, Charli Baltimore, etc.). Do you mean Melanie Felona?

  • Girl..is that her? She looks like she's mixed..really pretty...I think it's M something. I don't know lol

  • Yeah I thought she was Indian or Puerto Rican...something like that...LOL...You've been so kind replying to my messages...LOL...

  • LOL! Girl YOU'VE been so kind ;D Have a good weekend!

  • Thanks you too!

  • @RBCHILD4EV I'm glad I grew up in the 90s too because the entertainment was "the bomb!" LOL...

  • @RBCHILD4EV Thank you so much for taking the time out to watch this presentation and understanding the point I was trying to get across! And I bet you do have talent to put this together! LOL, I agree wholeheartedly about today's music artists. It's amazing how mainstream music sounds like noise, but anytime you listen to an older song, whether that be the 90s, 80s, 70s, etc., you always have a good feeling! I like the music in the early 2000s, but that's where it stops.

  • love me some black folks great vid

u may have forgot INOJ dats my gurl!

  • Thanks for watching! What does INOJ sing?

  • I kind of regret not being into too music back then as much as I am now, especially since I've been listening to old school EVERYTHING (rock, hip-hop, everything).

This captured the artists of the 1990s pretty well, but you would have been a little better off by putting their names under the pictures (which you can still do using annotations). The beginning may also have been more powerful with your voice in it.

  • @FerociousFox I appreciate your input. Thanks!

  • hey babygirl thanks forposting this video reminds me of my teenage years god how i miss the days!!!

  • Hey thanks for watching!!

  • Hey, I really enjoyed your video. You were so right about how we had so much talent back in the 90's and nothing much now. I wish most of those artists would make a comeback, because we really need that now. Oh yea, I favorited your video as well and thanks for watching mine too. :)

  • @uncnumberonefan Thanks for watching! I understand that you agree with me, BUT at the same time, you support those whack artists, LOL! It's sad though because some of those artists are on drugs and stuff now. I heard there are a lot of 90s groups comebacks for next year though.

  • Yea, but you like some of those whack artists yourself, lol! I can't wait to see who makes a comeback next year. I think it should be interestin'.

  • LOL, I don't listen to dumb songs like "yaaa trick yaaa!" That's your thing! If those artists do comeback, looking at how the industry is now, they probably wouldn't give them a chance...SAD

  • I don't know about that....they might just give them a chance. Yah trick yah! lol!

  • We'll see! Like many people have said, the soul of black music is gone...at least mainstream it is.

  • Great video! Makes me think of the good times when music was great!

  • Thank you so much for watching! Yours was great as well, and I wanted to point out the VARIETY of REAL artists we had back then!
