  • The titles of this movie seem to be inspired by Saul Bass.

  • This is and will forever be one of my favorite movies.

My children will grow up with this.

  • Sweet Jazz!

  • it´s more

  • buenoss

  • i always listen to this when i am studying:)

  • They're making a sequel to this :> Monster's University...look it up ._.

  • @Cresitan258 God I hope so.

  • @teamtalonco It's more so a prequel, but still

  • For some reason, the opening reminds me of 101 Dalmatians.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • Monsters Inc. is one top 5 animated pixar movies I really enjoyed.Toy Story is the my best animated pixar movie.1.Toy Story, 2.Monsters Inc., 3.Bug's Life, 4. Finding Nemo, 5.Toy Story 2.

  • I love thi movie! Theres a second one coming in 2013!

  • 1:12 Cnesrt, sno.i

  • Best Pixar ever to me ! I still watch it. :P

  • A legjobb animációs mese, mind közül!!! Imádom!!!!!!

  • amoooo estaa canciooon!!!!

  • @riveramtb3 omg me too!!!!!

  • And the name of this song is???..........

  • TRANSLATIONS!!!!

  • dolphin dance?

  • the 11 dislikes are probably people who are deaf from skrillex and can't appreciate real music.

  • Sheesh, is it possible for Pixar to make a bad movie?

  • @masterplusmargarita I thought it was impossible... and then i watched Cars 2, so disapointed :(

  • @Lvetto Well, that wasn't as much a bad movie as a... below Pixar standard movie. If you want to see what a bad Pixar film would look like, go see Shrek 3 & 4. If Pixar ever falls to that level, I will lose all hope in humanity.

  • @masterplusmargarita Cars 2 was basically it, and I think that's going to be Pixar's only misfire.

  • LLLOOOOOOVVVVEEE THIS THEME!!!

  • The best child's movie yet. They made a second Shrek and it stank. So how could this not follow suit? Also, I must say, incredible bass line on this.

  • This movie is kind of an allegory if you think about it. The scream represents a non-renewable source of electricity, while the laughter is wind power, hydroelectric power, etc.

  • that music is so good i could probly learn on my saxaphone

  • Even I'll admit that before I learned that "Monsters Inc." was just a comedy, I was terrified of going to the theaters to watch it. It wasn't until August of 2002 that I finally watched the movie and laughed at it! Embarrassing, isn't it? ^^;

  • What is this art style called? It's similar to the paintings that Ellie did for the nursery and the Paradise Falls chimney in Disney's Up also.

  • the solos are too damn good

  • i would someone like to help me find sheet music for the opener

  • Anybody remember the opening credits to Disney's One Hundred and One Dalmatians?

That's what this reminds me of.

  • @MiKAelangelo90 I <3 THAT MOVIE!!! i watched it the other day on vhs haha

  • Nostalgic movie, I can't wait for the prequel!

  • Best disney intro ever...besides Lion King

  • @KKOPPI And the hunchback.

  • @KKOPPI /up

  • es malisimo

  • great film with great music :3

  • somebody know whats the name of the song??? can tell me plies i like this song thanks

  • Go ahead, go throw up.

  • Quotes from the movie are the top rated comments...*sigh*

ANYWAY! The music in this video is phenomenal. Does Pixar have a standard team of musicians that they use regularly or are they just good at finding the right talent for each job?

  • @manbearpig900 Dunno, but in any case, Pixar always has a great soundtrack for their movies. They seem to like jazz, judging from this and a number of other stuff I've heard from them :)

  • @manbearpig900 Usually Randy Newman is there for the score, but they also get other talent for some films. They've got some of the greatest soundtrack ever!

  • man, i watch this like a million times a day, and im not a child, im old, lol

  • i love this

  • i can't believe i still remember watching this as a 5 year old

  • My childhood movie :)

  • takes me back

  • Awh, so many memories come back :)

  • @bbya1212 What scene was that.

  • @FreedomFighters716 Ending scene where they switch scaring with amusing kids :3

  • @LifeRunner4000 Oh yeah

  • By far my favourite intro to a film

  • Randy Newman is a genius

  • This is so nostalgic. :)

  • @Jazzyjonno

really that scene that kicked off UP didn't tug on your heartstrings?

  • Comment removed

  • @Dupalle Spot on! :D

  • bkn

  • CAT. STOP. PRESSING. REPLAY.

  • There's one thing about this movie that makes me sad, now that I'm 16. This movie makes me think Boo at some point was an abused or neglected child. Why? Well, I find it strange that Boo seems a lot more comfortable and happier with big, scary monsters than her kind, loving parents. Or, is it that her parents aren't exactly "kind and loving"? It's probably from Randall who kept scaring her and her parents ignored her eventually, which is why I was glad they got rid of him.

  • this title sequence and the one for catch me if you can always makes me think of saul bass

  • i love the first Pixar movies (Toy Story and Monster inc.)

    Monster inc. 2 in november 2012 ^_^

    Boo its really cute ^_^

  • @XxXJennLuvsYewwXxX is in stores in blu-ray i think too in DVD

  • @XxXJennLuvsYewwXxX of course it is

  • so cute

  • Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!.. so help me, so help me and cut!

  • I could listen to this song all day... and I just might! Kidding... sort of.

  • Your stunned silence is VERY reassuring.

  • @beatlesgirl95

"I'M NEVER GOING IN THERE YOU CANT MAKE ME!"

"Your going in there because we need this!" *opens scream can and lights over power*

  • @SonicTheHedgehog1224 *inserts rest of the dialogue here because I can't remember*

  • "And leaving the door open is the worst mistake any employee can make because?

It could let in a draft?

IT COULD LET IN A CHILD!

    Mr. Waternuse!

There is nothing more deadly or toxic than a human child. A SINGLY TOUCH CAN KILL YOU!"

  • @beatlesgirl95 *Poke*

  • mp3iiify :D the song is awesome!!!!! :D we used to hum it all the time lol even the high note at 0:48 lol

  • Randy Newman, people! Wrote the music to nearly all Pixar movies, including this intro.

  • Oh fuck Oscars we all love Monsters Inc.If it didnt win that award that doesnt mean that Shrek is better and Monsters Inc is not.MONSTER'S INC 4EVER

    P.S.Love the song

  • Does anyone know where i can find sheet music for this? I play the trombone. I've looked all around but the only thing i can find is for "If I Didn't Have You'

  • Monster's Inc has the best intro from all pixar movies

  • It's the only Pixar movie that actually has an intro separated from the rest of the film. So, you know...

  • thebeatles4ever is obviously a fan of his own rather verbose brand of prose. =P

Excellent tune, by the way. Easily a favorite! Love that bright, swinging sound!

    who plays this song?

if anyone knows please tell me :D

  • BEATIFULL SONGG

  • I'm pretty sure this tune is just Ole Rockin' Chair, speeded up.

  • what genre of music would u guys call this. please anyone reply coz i luv it!!!!

  • animeakibawoot already said it, but I'll reiterate since it's obvious you didn't peruse the rest of these comments.

One would classify this music as jazz, in general, and specifically as Dixieland or ragtime.

  • Awesome Intro

  • good, very good. Yet i prefer Up's. It told the back story better. This is still my second favorite though.

  • love the sequence. love the music.

  • This is without a doubt the best intro music to any movie i love it so much.

  • Andy Martin on trombone!

  • is this Bebop?

  • great jazzy beat

  • love the music. its such a classic

  • i wish i could play this on my sax...

does anyone have the sheet of music for this song?

  • This is one of the most relaxing pieces of music I've ever heard.

  • Hey did you guys know this is the song that Mitchell Musso and Emily Osment Sing It's true watch the ending and then watch the music vid "If I didn't have you".

  • ...that's because they did a remake of the song. Just about every Disney actor who sings nowadays (which is basically all of them) has done at least one remake of a song from a Disney movie. This song was originally from Monsters Inc. and was performed by John Goodman and Billy Crystal [the voice actors for Mike and Sully] during the ending credits of the movie.

  • The original Billy/John version is incredibly better than that remake. Its actually one of my favorite songs in a movie. Heck, of all time in fact!

  • awesome;masterpiece

  • Love this intro!! :D

  • mmm. great jazz. i love the trombone in this!

  • pixar wrote that peace

  • Sorry what's the title of the Jazz Music, please? Thanks xx

  • that film is so cool

  • Jazz

  • Nice way to make an intro

  • i really love this song! :D

  • Lovely Jazzy theme, to an equally lovely and jazzy film. Fantastic film and music.

  • I love this intro as much as the film.

  • This opening is very creative and will make Pixar stand out all the way! Pixar is just the best ever!

  • Genius moments like this is what separates Pixar from other production companies.

  • fantastic music
