To be fair if the kind and gentle approach doesn't work and people still have issues, has anyone tried tough love? Because to be fair, many of them see little progress so a boot up the arse is a diffrerent approach, but still a valid one.
ahww poor kid, he was really battling his "flight or fight" response when the c3po guy was touching him.... you can see he's uncomfortable but fighting it. The actor was rude, btw.
3:00 - 3:20... how is lack of empathy a bad thing? What that kid said was probably the most incredible, mature and reasonable anybody could ever say about their mothers death. Specially at that age. His objectiveness is just mind-blowing!
@Staceylianne1988 because, celebrating autism is not ideal. Many ''symptoms'' of autism is not acceptable behavior and cannot help someone live a ''normally productive'' life. Although I do agree that nobody should make someone feel like an alien just because of a mental disorder, co signing negative behavior that some autstic display is not grand either.
Seems like OCD plays a large part in many autistic individuals. I wonder what they are doing as far as research goes on this to possible help both the autistic sufferers and ocd sufferers.
Moneer would absolutely spaz if he came to one of the Star Wars dork conventions we have regularly in the US. I'm talking thousands of people dressed up in character costumes that know as much if not more than this kid. He'd have a ball.
It's weird because I see some of my behaviour in this. When he wanted to align the label perfectly and the distance between the letters etc. I'm like that too. I've suspected for a while that I might have a mild form of autism.
These videos are laughable, why not celebrate difference instead of making people feel that autism is something to pity, telling children that their autism is their problem and pointing out what they think is 'wrong' with them is not what people should do, why not be positive and teach children that we are all different and all think differently, theres too much ignorance surrounding autism!!
@Staceylianne1988 What exactly is ignorant though? It's telling the story on how these kids feel about autism. It's not simply a way of thinking differently, & if you think that videos and education only showing the positive would dispel the ignorance I disagree. It's not so much as wrong but the fact that's not something that "positive" thinking can deal with alone. You have to deal with both the downside and upside of any disorder to do any less is ignorant and a huge disservice to them.
No wander she's so fucked up because this cunt of an pseudo-psychologist keeps crippling her mind by telling her shes "got a problem" I would wwant ot choke the shit out of everyone as well. People just need to shut the fuck up and deal with their own problems.
@Sitheis2009 actually I never really knew him that much but I recently bumped into him... I spotted him and he was surprised himself because we both go to the same college.
Grant decided to dump her after she was.... two timing, infact 3 timing him and roy.
@SpokaneGirl85 What do you call a normal conversation? I have asperger's and I notice that people get annoyed when I talk too much about my 'interests' . I have to keep that in mind.
But even someone with autism can learn some good social skills. In fact, I study social work in college. There is always hope.
@SpokaneGirl85 Yes, that's actually true and only because they feel comfortable talking about it and they are knowledgeable about it, sounds like what moneer and roy would do, I remember going on and on everytime it was break, lol
when I watch this I feel so akward, these special needs kids actually me me feel sad and embaressed, I take for granted the fact that I am normal, in some ways I feel guilty
I do agree it seems to take on a negative side, but I'm not sure it was deliberate - I do think we have to be careful when showing autism, so that both positive and negative are shown; my biggest problem is that most people I know mainly watch the positive videos, so don't comprehend my problems, I don't want sympathy from them, just for them to recognise I'm not over-reacting when I touch something that feels funny or if someone gives me intense eye contact. x
Well in my book some people will always be stupid ignorants u know. I have 2 sons with different types of autism and twice some ladies said ohhhh they are so cute they don't look like they have that. I was like hhhh they are AUTISTIC they don't have DOWN SYNDROM HELLO! Idiots. They though u could see it in their faces like the Down kids. My son hates when people stare and he's right aso I told him to politely mention to the person to stop staring and it works like a charm ;-)
I never saw anyone with the same obsession of labelling video tapes before, I thought it was my personal quirk; I had to line the sticker up exactly and write on it perfectly, if the label didn't match the indentation or if one letter was spaced too far from the other I would get frustrated and break it, then calmly pick up another and start again. These videos are wonderful and give so much insight, only bit I don't like is the end of title, 'make me normal' - we are, just normal for AS x
Yes, she has improved since the documentary and this documentary also changed her life for the best and i was so happy to see her smiling and loving herself again :) unfortunelately, she went through depression last year and it was so sad to see her personality disappearing, now shes climbing her way back on top now, now you would just think shes just a normal person
Yea, I was mates with him aswell, i havent actually seen him in like years after that documentary..... I would ask him if I accidently forget eastenders, he would tell me what happened on that day? He actually gives the information very well aswell.
Would u think Roy was surprised over the Christmas special of Eastenders 2007 the one with the revelation of Stacy Slater & Max Brannings affair accidentally recorded & watched by the whole family.
Question is:::since VHS became old news, how would he record eastenders?
OOOOH and I forgot to mention this to you but hes got an excellent memory, he would also remember every detail so if you see him in the street, ask him, lol
Where is the off switch hahahaha.

Thanks.
hundred4ever 2 years ago
hey hundred4ever sorry the reply was pretty slow, the answer to your question is no, only moneer has aspergers featured in this documentary.
Hyperdude0123456 2 years ago
This is too negative, they are only showing low functioning auties and only focusing on the bad points of it.
I have Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and I'm nothing like this and I like being who I am, I am proud to be autistic.
