Great performance. Again, moments of inspiration and then moments that just go no place- one can get a far greater apprecation of Mozart by listening to this diatonic and boring piece.
this is the best overture, mozart just copy a lot of thing of salieri this opera was wroten before of Don Giovanni and the magic flute and have elements than mozart used in his music
Yes that's true Mozart issued ideas also from Paisiello and Cimarosa and from johan Christian and karl Philip....but he melted these elements ina truly genial way! The ouverture by Salieri is the good job of a wise craftman , no more, Mozart is magic!
@sokikka11 oh yeah that's true Mozart was a genious and just a little thing Salieri is been rediscovered in this century is so exiting to watch this kind of events like when Vivaldi was discovered at the XX century = ) Manuel

This is a fine overture, but let's not berate Mozart. That would be absurd. Honors to those who honors merit.

I prefer this one to most Mozart overtures.
This is one of the very few pieces of instrumental music that I genuinely like.
I agree with your comment about the Cimarosa overture btw.

Thanks! Mozart's idea of "Grotto" possibly was in connection with this opera by Salieri.
