I cant stop smiling when he starts talking (at about 12:49 ) about Canadian Heritage Minister James Moore . My personal observation: Minister Moore believes in political debate and listening to citizen's views as long as he can block you. See Twitter no_mpjamesmoore
You know how everyone is always worried about the creation of SkyNet? When some Frankenstein invention will take over and rule humanity forever more…
It just dawned on me. We already have it. It's called the Corporate Legal Monopoly game. When the Law no longer serves the people, the people serve the law. And the people who control the law.
I thought it was not "against the law" to open a competing apple store on the iOS platform (did not the jailbreak practice configure as a DMA exception?)
@risoldi No, the copyright office's limited-time exemption allows individual users to jailbreak iPhones (not iPads or iPods). It doesn't allow third parties to offer jailbreaking tools, or to even publish detailed instructions for jailbreaking. It's also only good until 2013, and Apple fought it tooth and nail (and will presumably fight it again).
@corydoctorow Oh, thanks for the explanation. That's really bad - and also different from what the general public's perception of the jailbreak legal status probably is.
I feel like a pro hax0r after watching this! :D

Other countries are required to 'get it wrong' because the USA requires it as a part of FTA negotiations with other nations.
lucychilli 7 months ago
@lucychilli That's true in some places, but not in Canada or Mexico; NAFTA has no such requirement.
