They DO adopt out every single kind of animal-even fish! Yesterday, at the Greenbriar Shopping Ctr. PETCO in Fairfax, VA, I saw some lady adopt a 6 inch parrot fish, 7 inch convict cichlid and an 8 inch angelfish! She really got a great deal!
They should do this with all the animals they stock, coz so many people buy little animals like hamsters, mice and others for kids, who loose interest, or the buy on impulse and don't really want the animals. Pet stores are just churning out animals and don;t care much for the welfare of them.
We do for all animals I work in a store. We make sure they are going to get the proper care as well such as that a mouse will not go to someone who is going to feed it to a snake. It's an excellent adoption program ^^... Half retail price I think.
Well being that those animals might have come from Pet stores at one point in their lives.....I'd wonder why you have them since you are so much in a hurry to have the stores stop selling them.
What I'm saying is those rats that you have, where were they before the rescue shelters? They might have come from Pet Stores....if the Pet stores didn't have them in the first place...you wouldn't have them.
I have seen the conditions the point is. If the store has a staff like the one mine has those 'conditions' don't exist.
In our store all animals are observed on the hourly animal health check if the slightest thing is wrong they are put in our wellness area and a vet is contacted. All animals are seperated by sex, and we do not sell sick animals until they've had the care they need.
I've seen the wrong conditions at Petsmart I've never seen any animal mistreated at the Petco I work at
It is a good step, but shouldn't end there. There should be an end to the sale of all animals, they all suffer for Petco's profits.
Thanks to all the animal welfare groups, especially PETA, who put the pressure on Petco to make this positive step forward. They are the ones who really made this happen.
This is wonderful news. Thank you, PETCO, for making this responsible choice :)
There are thousands of rabbits in the world that need loving homes. There's no need to keep breeding rabbits when there are so many in shelters and pounds.
Is it free

They should do it with snakes so I won't need to really pay much for a new one

Its nice petco but until you stop all animal sales, including hamsters and mice, I only think your trying to make your ass look good with this stunt.

K your comment doesn't make to much sense to me but I don't full support the petstores, selling animal wise.
Have you seen the conditions and what they sell? A lotta hamsters end up being sold pregnant, wrong sex, sick..all those things
