@Conkern65 I don't remember the exact connection. I was messing up a conversation (drunk, of course :s), where I was pointing out some the history of certain elements in the music to a friend. I think, I was making a point about the bass in Nil and the comb-shaped synth sound in Timestretch, but frankly: I don't remember ;)
when i get my car (tomorrow) im going to make a cd with all autechre, aphex, boc, and just drive around at night by myself like a creep listening to it over and over....
i love how this music has the unique ability to take me in a state of dissociated bliss..... of no anxiety... of no connection to the monotony of daily events... just floating... in appreciation of all that is. I love Autechre
Meticulous & faultless compositions that have and will continue to stand the test of time whilst pleasing the forever changing ears of the generations to come. These 2 guys write soundtracks that paint the birth and death of the universe. Saying that some times there is a need to hear some drum machines falling down an M C Escher impossible staircase. They do that well too :)
i saw them in Ljubljana (Slovenia) 2 years ago, they always completely turn the lights down so that your hearing is better, you dont need to wach a thing when your listening to those 2 guys,, ouuu yeahhhh and i just want to mention that i thought i was on acid listening to those melodys, wonderful experience, i have to see them live again
Some people think this kind of music sounds like it's for robots or other science fiction related things, and they're entitled to their opinions, but to me this sounds more like the soundtrack to nature.
Why do people always go on about being intelligent to listen to Autechre? You either like it...or you don't. Intelligence has nothing to do with it. Personally, I love them.
@m1kewithaone Yeah, it does sound sophisticated... ...but the listener doesn't have to be intelligent to listen to it - they just need to like it. Some people have commented that people lack the intelligence to understand it just because a person doesn't like it
@AmandaWolfie amanda, if you can find out what the name of the 3rd song on this c.d. is please let me know, 'cause it's one that i just have to hear again...
The sinister keyboard intro at 0:39 appears to be the same intro from the old martial arts flick Shogun. Which this sound kicks in on Shogun it's time to hide. Both brilliant works or art.
@Intelectual95 hahaha you just proved what an idiot you are. there are hundreds of genres of music, TO EACH HIS OWN. i like a7x, but i also love stuff like this, and aphex twin, and wintersleep. have some respect, jeez.
@Intelectual95 Its been known that people who brag about their IQ usually don't have an IQ much higher than 110. Plus, I doubt that band could actually THINK of a song like this, and being able to think up a song like this is a very good job anyway.
@Intelectual95 Playing an instrument? How do you define the word instrument? It's just a device that you can manipulate. You have to know how. Avenged Sevenfold didn't make their instruments. They simply know how to manipulate them. You have to know what button to push. You have to understand synthesis and composition. I Personally feel electronic music is the greatest representation of the self. The celebration of man and his devices. Easy to learn but tough to master.
@Intelectual95 "dont bother trying to prove me wrong, i have IQ 170 i took a test so im smarter than you and i am right anwyay sooo...." ... Sigh, okay, you win. Although with an IQ of 170 you should be able to understand sarcasm.
@Intelectual95 Do you relise that IQ test has noting to do with being smart or dumb.
and you cant appericate music on any level, i listen to everything under the sun. Youv lost touch with what music is really about. or maybe u have some growing up to do. Dont be so ignorant.
@Intelectual95 IQ 170? Then why can't you spell real/really (no idea what you were going for, Mr Hawking) or you, omit the word 'to' as you see fit, misspell actually, their, I'm and anyway?
the high pitched synth coming in at 4:38 almost forcing itself into your ears like a tinnitus really reminds me of "halcyon" by orbital using a similiar effect.
@maradnus Actually you would of thought so. But, no. We played it literally every time. Amber is the most trippiest album to listen too while stoned. :) But I have since moved on. :)
