Actually The hulk would prefer to use a weapon....the problem is he cant use his full strength what ever he uses busts. There have been a FEW exceptions....Mostly magical.

@abobjenkins til now, Loki is the only OP villian, all the others were weaker than Thor, or Hulk in the case of Gravitron. The other avengers ARE WEAK, just look at the wasp or hawkeye. Iron man is a mid power lvl, maybe black panther.

If u pay atention to the show u will notice that EVERYTHING can be solved with a big SMASH (aka Hulk) but that would have NON argumental interest so... "Oh no! they sent Hulk to Mars!" (ultron tactic, Amora tactic, etc)
