  • I used to take CELEXA never helped my panic attack I was still scared to go out now I been taking PAXIL for 2 months or so it helped my panic SOOOOOO MUCH I been going out to the malls, subways felt like I haven't took any! THANK YOU PAXIL this is the best pill

  • @GigiBabeee It's good for panic/anxiety, but is more/less ineffective for depression and the withdrawal is awful...it should NOT be used for depression, in my opinion.

  • I was on 20 mg Paxil for 2 years. It took me 6 months of hell to wean off, ~1 mg at a time. That was 10 years ago. I am not the same person I was before Paxil. I have an emotional deadness that I think is permanent. I can't cry. It's as if parts of my brain are dead. It's a hideous feeling to want to feel emotion and not be able to, as I am a sensitive person. I still have eye issues (feels like mini seizures.) People... Paxil causes irreversible neurological damage. GSK: burn in hell!

  • @GentlRebel The emotional deadness is a terrible symptom. I'm so sorry Paxil took that from you. I think about it often because it's also really, really hard for me to cry.

  • i have brain damage maybe permanent from ssri withdrawl... eye and sensory problems. developed mild depersonilzation wich is severe when im over stimulated. and this brick feeling in my head

  • @thefilesofmrx2 Bye Bye

  • I signed up to take part in a study of a new drug used to treat depression. I talked to the lead investigative Dr. today and was informed I do not qualify for the study since I also have issues with anxiety apparently. I was hopeful when he told what I have is treatable with Paxil, and I would benefit more from this than the clinical study. I get home and did some research on this drug only to find out it seems as if it will only take me from bad to worse. Now I really feel hopeless.

  • I JUST WANT TO GET OFF so I can loose weight easier and fucking have some seblence of a sex drive...

  • @stipV Me too! 50 pounds!

  • After 17 yrs on this shit, it has taken me a year to get off it with slow tapering. It's been 3 weeks with NONE and I'm in hell. Total freak outs. Something I think many overlook is that while on it, your emotions go numb. I'm crying a lot but I think it's necessary... grieving losses that happened while ON this poison. The dizziness, zaps, feeling that you're not ok, going crazy and DESPERATE are atrocious. It should be illegal. We should all be suing the mfr.

  • @idolaw826 Be careful! I spent a year tapering and lost my job at 5mg for doing something really air-headed. I was so forgetful and confused all the time. And the zaps never stop. After losing job, boyfriend, etc I went back to 20mg and felt 100-percent back to normal. A slower taper got me down to 15mg eventually, but I ended up just going back to 20 after a few years. I guess what I'm saying is don't feel bad if you have to take it again. You aren't alone.

  • @idolaw826 Are you feeling better now? Are you still off or did you end up going back on? I'm coming off for the 3rd and hopefully final time...and yes, it's hell...and yes, we should sue those greedy Mengele types who profit from others' suffering; however, I don't have the energy to do that, so I'm just trying to deal with the symptoms as well as I can... Best wishes from South America 8-)

  • I quit moving, breathing, seeing. I got put in a coma state.

  • Comment removed

  • @idolaw826 I am. It was a year now, it was awful. It ruined a huge part of my life... made me totally impulsive and crazy. I dyed my hair ugly blonde, punched 4 people in the face, started doing drugs, smoking cigs, etc.

I got off of it and I stopped doing all of that.. I really don't like how this made me. It scares me to see there are people on it and they may be like me.

  • I just stared Paxil, this is my third night taking it and I don't know if I will continue to try it because the side effects are too much. I am extremely nauseous, dizzy, my head hurts, I feel a lump in my throat, I feel awful.

  • @16amapola Switch to another antidepressant. The symptoms will go away when your body adjusts to the Paxil, but then if you try to get off it you'll have a much worse experience. There are plenty of other anxiety meds!

  • I've been on and off Paxil three times over the last 5 years. Never had a much of a problem. Some side effects in the beginning, nothing a few drinks won't fix.

  • @SuperEntone Then you are one of the lucky ones, along with the majority of the population. Those of us who experience severe withdrawal are happy for you, as long as you don't try to down-play or deny what we're going through. FEEL LUCKY!!!

  • I did cold turkey off of 40mg once. You *will* live. It took me two weeks. I'm halving the dose this time and halving it again 2 weeks per until I'm off. It's a lot better than cold turkey but still annoying as hell. I am on day 11. I didn't have symptoms until day 7. Day 10 was the worst so far.

  • I cold turkey's before - I had a really bad flu for a two weeks and weird head zaps - not shocks. I'm switching drugs now monitored by my doctor, cutting the dose in half and then going on a newer non-SSRI. I have a mild flu and mild zaps I'm on these for anxiety like the DJ not depression not sure if that makes a difference on the withdrawal issues.

I'm no where near as bad as these ladies but knowing what it is and what to expect, makes it easier to deal with. So thanks ladies.

  • paxil made me FAT FAT FAT!!!! im now 60 pounds heaver than i was 8 months ago!! :( i switched to citalopram (celexa)

  • @makinbacon855 ME TOO! 50 POUNDS!

  • PAXIL SAVED MY LIFE. I BEEN TAKING IT FOR 4 YEARS. AND I FEEL FINE. THANKS PAXIL. PAXIL TOOK MY PANIC ATTACKS AWAY, MY GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER AWAY AND MY SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER AWAY.

  • @judgerofwars Same here but that doesn't mean withdrawal isn't real. It's quite real, thankfully most cases are not as bad as the ones in the video. I cold turkey'd once and it was 2 weeks of hell. I'm being switched now and its annoying as all get go. I'm working and attending school full time and I had to drop a class from just halving the dose for a week. It's Sept 23rd. I have until October 12th before I get the new one then it will be a week or two of adjusting to it. Could be worse

  • @judgerofwars sooner or later, it will "poop out", you better wean off it before

  • YOU HAVE TO WITHDRAWAL VERY VERY VERY SLOWLY. OVER A PERIOD OF 9 MONTHS. OR MORE.

  • but the difference between the 2 different times seems to be the current situations i was in. Now I've been off the drug for a few months, but am starting to experience really bad anxiety lately and i know it's bound to get worse. I'm thinking I have no other choice but to go on Paxil again. Unless someone knows of another alternative? My doctor's not much help.

  • @misschrysalis It is really SHOCKING how long those symptoms hang on and not improve. I thought the longer I suffered, the better the pay-off would be when it was all over. But it was never over. Perhaps you'd have more success with the taper method? Visit Paxil Progress Dot Org for details on different ways to become Paxil-free.

  • I've been on Paxil since i was 15, 11 yrs ago and quit twice. The first time coming off was like what the ppl in the vid say, i was suddenly thrown into a stressful situation and the BOOM i felt an electric current paralyzing my body. I missed a week of work, could barely move for days and had to force-feed myself. I had no choice but to start taking Pax again. Then this year i go off the drug with pretty much no problems, actually it was a great and amazing experience to finally be drug free,

  • Doctors & Psychiatrists only know what they are told by Big Pharma, ergo if they could sell Heroin they would, in fact Doctors & big Pharma do NOT know how SSRIs work they can only say they "BELIEVE" how they work!

you may be better off taking heroin, or other narcotics, we have thousands of years of experience and exposure to them and if they were decriminalized would cost around 10 to 50 cents a day. compared to Paroxetine hydrochloride tablets: Cost: Generic—10 mg $89.96/90

  • I've been taking Paxil for 11 years now. 30mg per day. Probably hooked for life.

  • I was just put on Paxil.

    Thank God I found this.

I also heard that it puts people at a higher risk of suicial behavior.

    My psychiatrist is an idiot!

I was sent to see her for attempting suicide.

    Ugh.

  • @blackrosechick1992 She's not necessarily an idiot. SSRIs helped me get out of major depression. I was on paxil at some point, but I've used others and have tapered down, though discontinuing is still a big problem for me. I have withdrawal symptoms when I go off. But i wouldn't give back the years of success and happiness I had while on antidepressants for anything. Its good this info is out there, but if you're truly suicidal, SSRIs could really get u out of it, just avoid paxil.

  • Please type in Ban Paxil using google search engine and sign this petition if you believe Paxil is a bad drug

  • @jessicaelainek If it gets banned, we addicts will all die. But let's ban it from being prescribed to more people!

  • I took Paxil about 10 years ago and stopped taking it without any problems. I started taking it again a little over a year ago, and now I'm trying to wean myself off. It's AWFUL. Brain zaps are crazy, and I feel even more depressed. I had to take a pill a couple of hours ago to get rid of the dizziness and discomfort. This is so discouraging, I just want to be off this shit.

  • @tarajean71 I'm on a different SSRI now, not on paxil anymore, but my last doctor (a GP actually) told me how important it is to wean off REALLY slowly, like more slowly than I imagined possible. Don't just halve your dose, go 2 whole 1 half for a few weeks, then 1 whole 1 half, then 1 whole 2 half etc. Hope that helps?

  • @Daniloveschoir LMAO!!!! I tried lowering by ONE MILLIGRAM every THREE WEEKS using LIQUID PAXIL over an ENTIRE YEAR and was never able to go below 15mg without serious consequences. I FELT EVERY MILLIGRAM!! So yeah, I'd say it's important to go slowly. But if you're going slower than slow and you still don't succeed over four years... well I guess I'm saying to hang in there everybody, but if you have to give up, it's understandable.

  • @Daniloveschoir I used liquid Paxil 1mg at a time and still it wasn't slow enough in the end. Other people have used nail files, etc.

  • its so incredible how easy it is for a doctor to prescribe to someone without telling them anything about what they are about to be going through. when i was younger and i had anger problems the doctor talked about prescribing me this crap without even knowing anything about me.

  • I guess I am lucky, ive taken it before and stopped with no side effects. I am taking it again, and it has done wonders for me. Something people need to be aware of is that for as many people who have had problems there are many many more who have not. Doctors have no real idea why they work for some and not others, if one doesn't work they will put you on something else, its just educated guessing.

  • just been put on Paroxetine (paxil) hope i dont get these symptoms.

  • ...Tapering Paxil is the most hellish experience human mind can go through. I so feel what you're all saying here. I took Paxil for more than 8 years for a situational depression. When trying to go off of it, the number and severity of the symptoms I experienced was mind-boggling. If you have symptoms you never ever had before, there's only one answer - it's Paxil that causes it. If you need help, you might visit a support site Surviving Antidepressants.

  • @sankibez Paxil Progress dot org is another great one.

  • Paxil withdrawl is FUCKING HELL omg. its worse than Heroin withdrawl.....its INSANE i just missed a weekend of paxil and the withdrawl is so bad i can barely watch this video. Holy shit this shit is fucked up....I was on Zoloft for 9 months and i quit it with relative ease......But paxil is some crazy fucked up shit. i cant even describe all the withdrawl symptoms cuz im withdrawing so hard i cant think.........fuckin shit is addictive as fuck

  • @Pent5HT All true. Get back on it immediately and every last symptom will disappear within 6 hours. Then start thinking about whether you can handle a slow taper. I never did make it off this poison. Good luck - hang in there!

  • @Pent5HT All true. Worst experience of my life....for over 4 years I tried to wean off this drug. I gave up.

  • @Pent5HT It has been the worst year of my life tapering off and the worst month of my life being off of it completely. Total freak outs and feeling soooo desperate for help! Please don't take this drug.

  • When I stopped taking it all I remember wast he vertigo. Like the room would tip suddenly. That is what it felt like. i remember that clearly though it was 7 years ago. i did go off it cold turkey even though i knew that was not reccomended. I did not hear about all the talk of really bad side effects until recently.

  • @Clarice1933 Hi Clarice. How are you fealing now? Did you manage to recover from all side effect. Are you still on medication?

  • @TheChembalin I am doing well. I function a lot better than I used to. I have not tried any other meds though I do sort of have some of that social anx. dis. left over. I won't go to a gym, but I was able to give my speeches in college without being sick, and I got a job as a cashier so I was working with people a lot and I got married and had a son. I think pretty good for a person who used to not look anyone in the eye, eat in front of others, did not speak unless I had to, or go shopping. : D

  • @Clarice1933 That is great Clarice :) I wanted to ask you because I did a mistake, I was feeling sad and I took Celexa, I was taking it for fe days but in a really high dose and it affected me. I loved a boy very much but now I dont feel for him I feel anxiety everyday, it was a mistake to take it. I know that those SSRis have similar effect. I wanted to ask you if you feel all the feeling like love, angry, shame, because after I took Celexa I lost them.

  • @TheChembalin I used to have a crush on a guy in high school and I had such anxiety about it that for like a week I wondered if he could actually hear what I was thinking. That is a bit off the deep end for me, but I was able to rationalize out of it. It is never a bad thing to turn to prescription meds just to see if they help. Keep a journal if you do not already. Best therapy ever. I started keeping on at about 20. I wish I had done it sooner though.

  • @Clarice1933 Clarice can you feal love now, I meen after you have stopped all medications? Do you have a normal sexual life did you manage to recover completely from the med in that field because they lower sexual drive and love.

  • I was on Paxi for a year when I was 17 to 18 for social anxiety disorder. . I think that it helped me. Before I took it I would always walk with my head down at school looking at the floor not wanting to look at anyone. i hated shopping and I would never eat in public. i always skipped lunch at school. After i took it I started looking forward and holding my head up and had an easier time talking to people. I would attribute some of it to the placebo effect. i do think it helped though.

  • Glad i found this. Now i know is going on. I was sick and dizzy from something else and one of the meds i was given for dizziness said it would not be a good idea to take it and paxil and such. So, i tapered in 2 days! I was not sure if it was the new vertigo med, my illness or paxil withdrawal. I guess i know now. I have been off for 2 weeks now. Buzzing type of shocks in the head. Insomnia then when i fall asleep horrid dreams wake me up. Stepping gives brain buzz. I have nausea, and others .

  • is true doctors get some money from those pharmacist from prescribing those meds?

  • i could never get an erection on paxil, and eventually lost my desire too.My lover was not happy.I finally went off it,and then found out later that paxil was a fluorinated drug.So i was glad i quit the stuff.Pharmaceuticals are crap. They are routinely pushed on an ignorant public with full knowledge of their dangers,But big pharma doesnt care, and neither does the FDA

  • This so called Dr. Wheadon sitting in his chair acting high and almighty as if there is no God, thinks he will not go unpunished by God in heaven & everyone who is behind "Glaxosmithkline" who manufactures Paxil. They deliberately withhold & refuse to reveal negative data because of sales & cares less about human beings. Father in Jesus name I ask you to STOP and expose these pharmaceutical industries who systematically mislead physicians & patients for their own gain.

  • I was on paxil for a year and came off it without much problem, yes there are side affects but you just gotta take it really slow there's no huge rush so you take a little off wait 2weeks or more then take a little more off. If you go cold turkey the affects are horrible so simple answer is to not do it that way...not really sure what these people are talking about

  • Paxil worked wonders for me. I felt symptoms coming off of it but I wouldn't call it withdrawl. If the doctor knows what there doing they will give you the right cure. These ppl were obviously taking the wrong meds.

  • I HAVE TRIED TO GET OFF THIS STUFF I CAN TAKE 1 PILL A WEEK BUT IN 8 DAYS I START HAVING WITHDRAWALS SO I TAKE A PILL AND IM GOOD FOR ANOTHER 8 DAYS BUT THERE IS THIS RASH I HAVE AND IT WONT GO AWAY. AND THE ZAPS ARE STRONG ITS LIKE THE NERVES IN YOUR BODY IS OUT OF WAK. BUT I DONT MIND IT TOO MUCH. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO NOT TAKE IT EVER AGAIN. BUT I JUST DONT HAVE NO EMOTIONS I DONT FEEL NOTHING LIKE LOVE,PAIN,CARING.

  • Once your on Paxil you cant come off it You will want to die.....

  • @jtabor13 you CAN, just decide to no matter what and suffer through till it passes. Get some help with a tranquilizer. That seems to help me. But it doesnt get rid of anything. Just eases it a bit.

  • All of these things people are saying, the shocking, the tremors, it is all from going OFF your medication and your anxiety is coming BACK again. You assume it's the drug. You have to slowly ween yourself off the drug. If you take 20mg, cut those in half and take then for a month, then take 5mg for a month, then 2.5 for 3 months, then stop taking it. If you have proper coping mechanisms and maybe an all natural drug to help you out you will be FINE! Paxil free for 3 years, not one issue.

  • @sheldini2002 No you are incorrect. I am not having symptoms of my anxiety or panic i had before. I never had shocks or severe nightmares or constant electric feelings in certain parts of the body when i was dealing wth anxiety pr panic. And you should NEVER EVER take any herbal or natural remedies with Paxil or any other psychotropic drug in your system. That is very dangerous.

  • Waxman? They gave him credibility by letting him hit big pharma but the he goes pushing that phony swine flu vaccine!

  • @MORCOPOLO0817 Just for clarification: To which conspiracy theory are you referring, the one that claims the vaccines don't work, or the one that claims the H1N1 pandemic was a hoax invented by big pharma to sell vaccines?

On topic: Exercise unfortunately doesn't help with the zaps and dizziness for me, but it does wonders for the weepiness. Every little bit helps.

  • Another thing that helps me stay on a lower dose is to excersise EVERY day for 1 hour. Conselling helps too.

Paxil is not for everyone. You need to find what works for YOU. Wishing you all good health and happiness!

  • Paxil gave me my life back. I was sick for years, couldn't get out of bed, tired all the time, lost 20lbs, nauseous...ect... Then I took paxil and started to feel better. Now 7 years better I'm on 15mg and doing very well. I've been up to 30mg and yes, coming down is hard but do it SLOWLY...that's the key. Your withdrawl symptoms will be more manageable. My doc said come down 5mg every week but that was too fast for me....I was cutting slivers off my pills every week instead. ..much better

  • It has been a month and am still sick...trying to move, feel unable to face it...and am sick, basically. Am getting a refill in a few minutes. Call me a wuss, but I truly suffer major depression

  • I was just prescribed this medicine 10mg for three days then 20mg a day....I start tomorrow......this scares me.

  • I've quit taking paxil's for two day's, only two.. I've been having these electric like feelings in my head when I move my eye's and I can hear it too.. I can hear a disc loading type of sound in a computer tower.. Sound's crazy.. But I need to know if this is a form of Paxil Withdrawel and if after quting paxil, does it EVER quit making you feel these ways?.. Please someone respond to me.. as silly as it may sound, im scared to feel this way for the rest of my life.. im only 16..

  • @lilemoboy2 Yes that is Paxil Withdrawal. I get those same symptoms when I miss a dose by 5 hours. It sucks! You will have to wean off the drug slowly. Good luck!

  • i quit paxil cold turkey and never had any withdrawl symptoms; i think this is all psychosomatic

  • @TheRealestEver Or you are one of the lucky people. This happens to between 30-40 percent of the population trying to quit Paxil, and then only to varying degrees. So you should just be happy about it, not telling us the symptoms aren't real.

  • @traffictype I am cold turkey for 5 days now and my doctor wants me to come in after a year of taking them. Its like a drug dealer he gave me 3 months in the beginning and now every month he spoon feeds me this paxil. Now he wants me to come in and pay $60. I dont have it because of back injury that I also paid him to look at. Without warning I had to go cold turkey and I am feeling light headed, disconnected and balance is off. Afraid to drive even. So you must be special or superman or you lie

  • @traffictype Agreed. And if you report the symptoms and their severity, the doctors call it "your original condition returning", EVEN IF there was no original condition in the first place - many people had it prescribed for physical ailments.

  • @TheRealestEver liar or u were not on it long enough

  • @ParkerBe23 20mg a day for 6 months. these so called "withdrawl" symptoms are all just over dramatized, sorry. besides, besides, we're talking about antidepressants and we all know people with depression are melodramatic and want everyone to stop everything and kiss their boo boo's.

    :(

  • thats not long enough try being it it for a few years

  • thats not long enough try being it it for a few years

why do u think all these people would explain these

sometimes severe symtoms if they didnt happen

i have been stuck on this med for 10years wen i got off it once

i had severe panic and would go bright red whenever i had to talk to anyone

it was horrible i had to go back on them just so i could work

  • @TheRealestEver

shallow generalisation from an ignorant bigot

  • @TheRealestEver This is what my doctor told me :people that do not produce serotonin get help by taking the drug; some of them can get out of it -as the body starts producing serotonin again- others do not and will have to remain on the pill.

I believe her since Ive been able to lower the dose SLOWLY without the withdraw effect, but my stomach gets crazy again. I take it for IBS and it has given me my life back.

Please, read and research ANY drug before taking them.

    Hope this helps. : )

  • @TheRealestEver :0 wow

  • @TheRealestEver bullshit

  • never had the zaps, but at 25mg if I forget to take it for a couple days I will get SEVERE nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Not to mention the shaking and cold sweating that right after. I hear prozac has a longer half life so if you forget to take it it's not as big of a deal, I think I will ask my doctor about switching to that.

  • I quit Paxil last year 3/09. A few weeks later I was put in the psychiatric ward in a nearby hospital because I keep saying I do not want to live. The I was sent for Electric shock theraphy in Cooperstown for about a month. When this started I was on 20 mg to get me back they had to put me on 60mg. I really want to quit but can't!

  • i was on 40 mg paxil for 6 years, but i tolerated it okay and didnt have any discontinuation issues from it that i`m aware of.Even so,after reading the horror stories and becoming aware of the workings of the pharma industry and how drugs are approved,it made sense to stop all medications.People die yearly from drugs they are prescribed that they dont even need, drugs that are often approved with full knowledge of potentially fatal side effects.

  • Yes not easy getting off I did not realize till I quit that it was causing my brain fog

that I was so worried about.

  • I'm on my second day at 40mgs and wow my vision is crazy im having mild halusantions and im feeling brain dead.. apart from that i feel great like im in my own world. my dreams you wouldnt believe the first night.. nothing! the second night i was awake in my dream!! I'm taking loxamine witch iv herd is a stronger form of pixil??? the generic brand . was unaware there was such a strong chem comunity makes me feel not so alone

  • @crazymofo41 honestly, you CAN get off it. You just need to know what to do & have someone who's been through it help you and look after you for however long it takes. but there are other drugs which can ease the symptoms....and eventually get you off. They don't really come from the pharmacy though...

  • @sparklyeyes22 I worked on it non-stop for 4 years, trying everything. It's just not an option for some of us. But MOST people can get off if they go very slowly, cutting the pills and then using the liquid Paxil.

  • I went off paxil cold turkey. The shocks went away after 1 week.

  • PAXIL IS A STRONG DRUG IM NOT SAYING YOU WILL BECOME ADDICTED BUT FOR A FUCKING DAMN FACT YOU N UR BODY WILL DEPEND ON IT IM TAKING 80MG A DAY AND IF I DONT ALL HELL WILL BRAKE LOOSE. I AM A MARINE COMBAT VET AND PAXIL WILL EITHER BE UR BEST FRIEND OR WORST ENEMY.WICH ONE IS IT?????

  • yes...but I took myself off cold turkey and spent the year in bed or in hospital being accused of having gastro enteritis, IBS, then hypochondria, then bipolar....all was bullshit. OK, I know I took myself off them suddenly but to have your testimony dismissed is the final insult....but Yes, I am now free of all pharmaceuticals and thankful to be alive...it's a matter of survival....I now believe there is way to get off these drugs for good...I managed it, so can you...

  • @Globodyne You are VERY mistaken. If something works for you, that doesn't mean it works for everyone. We wouldn't be calling it "addiction" if we were talking about a psychological reason for taking it.

  • For yrs I told myself I would never take antidepressant meds. But one time I had this bad thing that happened to me and a doc. told me to try paxil... man, it has been a hell, today is the sec day without and let me tell yah .... I can't enjoy the day... I have so many things to do for myself but I cant get out the bed.

  • I stopped taking paxil because they were making me want to self harm & kill myself. They dimished my intellect, made me put weight on, I couldn't enjoy a couple of drinks, they insidiously eroded my personality, made me afraid to try new things....I was unable to respond to life with my full senses, which resulted in depersonalisation, I lost my job because I was on them, and the pharmacist who owned the chemist knows how dangeous these tablets are but still lives of the takings...

  • @sparklyeyes22 Were you able to get off the Paxil?

  • I have been on and off paxil since 1994. I find that I only need 10mg daily for this med to work and to prevent side effects such as night sweats, bad dreams, dry throat, head aches, and others. I have major depression and a panic disorder. The doctors always try to prescribe me a higher dose and are always shocked that a 10 mg dose even works. I have minimal effects when I discontinue paxil taking it at 10 mg but at higher doses it has taken me months to ween off it.

  • YES paxil makes u gain weight!! Yes u become dependent on paxil!! And yes if u go cold turkey u will pay!!! Quit before is too late!!! I'm already fucked!! Aaaahhh brain zaps uughh

    h D;<

  • @THAGODFADA69 It put 50 pounds on me! And all attempts to ween off led to disaster. Hang in there!

  • I had self harm issues, depersonalisation, suicidal ideation, anorexia, bulimia, screaming fits (into a cushion so neighbours wouldn't hear, horrific mood crashes which was ZOLOFT...also when I came off Paxil, I had serotonin syndrome induced hypomanio..with electric shock type zaps in my head...the anxiety was the worse I've ever experienced...still traumatized by this abusive drug treatment, it's a chemical assault on the human spirit, it makes you feel ok so you don't notice what is going on

  • @sparklyeyes22 Did the Paxil help with those issues? If it made you feel ok, why did you stop?

I'm taking Paxil; haven't tried to ween off, nor do I want to. I was on Effexor and got off it and didn't have much trouble. Brain zaps didn't bother me much.

  • @sparklyeyes22 True! All of it! We have gone through hell! And some of us end up right back on the drug like I did. All the suffering for what? Nothing!

  • Only 8 months - ran out and the last 2 days have been hell... Stupid ppl like me that trust the doctors and pharmacist because I was very sceptical, but they assured me all was well. The drug has helped me personally, but when you have little money to go back to the doctor and get the med refilled, that's when it started. The funny thing is that the full fledge withdrawl started 2 days ago. UGH! Thnx for posting...

  • I had terrible withdrawal from Paxil back in 2003. I took it from late 2000 until early 2003. I gained 90 lbs whilst on it (which I have since lost) and became someone entirely different.

  • ive taken this for a few days, and i have to say im very scared of what you guys are saying, but i need this in my life... what should i do?

  • i have never felt so ill in my life. I feel like im constantly on a carnival ride wanting to throw up all over the place. The brain shocks are horrible

  • how much flouride is in this crap?

  • whats worse? the anxiety, or the withdrawal?

  • @lockoutzz The withdrawal, though anxiety is part of that. I used anti-anxiety medications during withdrawal but they don't address the depersonalization, zaps, headaches, or other sensory disturbances.

  • I just had to go BACK on paxil to end the brain shocks, they were to much to deal with. If I had known that this was gonna happen I would have never taken it.

  • @daniellaleeNJ You are NOT ALONE! I'm back up to 20mg to avoid the headaches and zaps, myself.

  • @daniellaleeNJ Been there, done that!

  • I've been on effexor for years. Basically the same thing as paxil. The withdrawl is horrendous, to say the least! It costs me 175 per month because my insurance does not cover prescriptions. I gladly pay it even though I can't afford it, just to avoid the dreaded "zaps".

  • @Angelhaven95 My mom is addicted to Effexor. Makes me wonder if there's a genetic reason some of us go through harsh withdrawal while others can get off the drug in 2 months.

  • I actually was able to wean off and stay off for 3 months. I decided to go back on because of explosive anger, social interaction disability and anxiety. Now, looking back, I think that being off only 3 months wasn't long enough and I was still going through withdrawal. God only knows how long it would take to finally be free...

  • You can do it, guys, if you really wanted and NEEDED to get off the pill. I did it, it was easier than quitting smoking. Ask your doctor to prescribe Wellbutrin for you, it'll help you with the zaps, the mood and the bubble you feel in when you start missing it. Getting off Wellbutrin is like quitting drinking tea, no worries there. Make sure you time it right, don't do it when you've got issues to deal with. Let's be honest, Paxil helped when we needed it, you CAN get off it though.

  • @dorian75c Wellbutrin deals with Dopamine, not Seratonin. We are dealing with system-wide Seratonin related problems. For the switch method, I would recommend another SSRI, but I failed at the switch method with both Prozac and Celexa. It's a real bummer.

    Good luck!

  • Does anyone feel itchy and like bugs are biting them? These are my symptoms.

  • @sharonmshepard24 oh yes, and now I have a horrible rash on my thighs. not to mention I can't sleep, I'm very sweaty and I think i am going crazy.

  • @sharonmshepard24 YES! I developed a full body rash!

  • This is true , however, i been taking paxil for over 9 years. When you quit you lower your dosage, when you finally get to the 10 or 12 mg you start cutting it in two then in fours and you gradually get off , i have quit 3 times already and havent been on for over a year. Quitting paxil is just like quittting ANY control substance you cant cold turkey, i tried that the first time with paxil and i had flu like reactions

  • Im pissed!I kept telling my docter it was having no effect; so I gradually got off it and started to realize I was getting some weird headaches. The only way I can describe it is if I'm sitting and look fast to the left or right; or get a really anxious moment; some kind of sensation runs through my body to my head kind of feeling like my heartbeat is in my ears making a wooshing sound, I have been off the drug for like 3 weeks and its still with me; more often when I awake in hot sweats.

  • The headaches are TERRIBLE. It's been 6 days since I stopped cold turkey. I know that's not recommended but I'll fight through the withdrawal to get off this pill. I wish I had never taken Paxil. I sincerely beg anyone out there who is watching to PLEASE do not take this medication

  • The drug manufacturers want you to get hooked 'cause that's how they make their money. They don't want you to stop buying the drug. No different from street drug pushers. My advise: NEVER take drugs of ANY type or you'll be sorry...

  • You would actually need morphine to stop the pain when you stop paroxetine even by reducing it very slowly and quiting. I had terrible headaches, nausea, electric shocks in my head, vomiting when I try to discontinue it, stomach pains when I ate and feeling cold even in summer. All these symptoms started after 2-3 days of the last dosage and if I wouldn 't restart the pill I thought I would die from too much pain. Maybe its addiction is like heroin, it can cause shakings, seizures and maybe death

  • @MarineCy I recognize ALL of your symptoms!

  • I found out after a sleep test that paxil is a REM suppressant. I have been on paxil for 15 years and am now tapering off. Gee lack of REM sleep can cause you to have suicidal thoughts and death. Why is this drug not a Schedule 1 drug like morphine, marijuana, heroin, etc???

  • @Rondee1374 OMG maybe this is why I had so many LUCID dreams after I raised it to 30mg in the late 90's! I think LUCID is above REM in consciousness. It was awesome and terrifying being awake in my dreams. Thanks for making sense of the experiences!

  • I am tapering off of this and it is horrible. It is bad enough that I am trying to get my life together - but to have the embarrassing issues from this. UGH

  • I had withdraw symptoms also. I was cold and shaky.

  • @glenncookiowa1979 I couldn't stop shaking... and this went on for months and months until I gave up and went back on the drug.

  • What the f?? If their REALLY are all of these problems with these medications why are they still selling it???

  • this drug and in combination with benzos like klonopin are terrible...i am a male diagnosed with PTSD from multiple combat tours as a rifleman. I stopped taking the cocktail just because I ran out. I felt the electric shock described in this video, just horrible. Avoid them like the plague!!!

  • fuck sakes i just got put on this shit

  • Get off this shit people, unless you are so depressed you can't move.

  • i suffered from early withdrawal....quit being pussies i went cold turkey...yeah i snapped on a few people but that was it...zap...suck but so what

  • Ooooh, Paxil is evil!! EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It feels like your head is 1000 feet under water. I know.

  • It feels like your head is 1000 feet under water. I know.

  • It feels like your head is 1000 feet under water. I know.

  • It feels like your head is 1000 feet under water. I know.

  • I've changed my mind as of April 1st, 2010. Having been stabilized at 15mg for nearly 5 years, the withdrawals are back and I can't withstand the dizziness and headaches. I'm going back up to 20mg, and I wonder how long before I'm forced up to 25 mg. Can't wait to gain 10 pounds!!

  • Anyone ever shoot up Paxil? It's the BOMB. Like you're flying.

    Crush it, slam it, YEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • Now that's just too damn funny. lol

  • Can you say YELLOW JOURNALISM!?

  • that black rep from Paxil is a pretty weak lobbyist. "It could do more harm than good"?? TO what the patient or your corporations bottom line? that guys voice reaks of lies

  • Agreed! How do these people sleep at night??

  • I was prescribed paxil by a VA doctor. I committed suicide while on the drug. Was still prescribed paxil. for 4 more years with a slew of benzos then finally one day my nurse pract. says we better get you off of paxil "it's bad stuff" . And now i'm all but minimally functional. And a slew of other side effects.

  • Wow.

  • I have been taking 20 mg of paxil for 2 months.. went to the doctor because I was extremely tired and could hardly get out of bed. She diagnosed me with depression. Now I have been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. I have reservations about continuing paxil since it causes pulmonary hypertension in newborns whose mothers took it during pregnancy. I have not taken paxil for about 3 days and I can say that I am so dizzy I can barely walk in a straight line.

  • I hate the dizziness and exhaustion! I get those symptoms when my body adjusts to my current dose and asks for a higher one. I refuse to go back up from 15 to 20mg, so I guess I'll have the withdrawals for life.

  • @Sarabear154 that just proves doctors dont listen to you and dont know wt theyre doing

  • This is so true.
