can i connect the vm-1 to a doepfer bus board[kit diy*1]?eurorack uses standard bus board?I mean...can I buy any kit from any manufacturer?if I want to trigger the vm1 with a pc I need a midi/cv module right?any suggestions about the model?
@charliecromo You can connect the Cwejman VM-1 with any eurorack power supply that has +12v, -12v, and +5 volt rails. If you are triggering the VM-1 with MIDI, yes you need a MIDI to CV converter.
So this, despite being like $700, seems like actually a really good deal because i't everything a basic synth should have minus an LFO. perfect for like a small modular system. anyone agree? any better bang for your buck for quality/compactness?
I've been contemplating an analog modular synth such as the fantastic Cwejman; nonetheless, as cool as it sounds, the concept of playing with 8 step sequencer and changing chords with one finger on a keyboard is the same concept as playing a home keyboard. So, is buying a modular synth with analog sequencer an excuse not to practice keyboard chops?
I played with a VM-1 for the first time this week. I could not figure out how to get the AR or ADSR to shape the VCA. The pdf manual isn't of help either. Does anyone here know how it works?
Gate out of seq. into Gate in on VM-1 under "envelopes". Start with cross mod knobs 1 and 2 at noon. The adsr/vca mode switch should be up. This will give you a standard adsr. If you want the AR to control the filter cutoff you can do that do by switching the Osc/AR to AR and turning CM1 clockwise. Hope that helps:)
Thanks. I'll have to give that a try the next time that I'm in front of the system. I'm betting that I was having difficulty with either the ADSR/VCA Mode switch, the cross-mod knobs , or both.
Are cwejmans the best?

Imagine having 4 or 5 of these playing different sequences. Heaven. Especially with all the filter types.

Cwejman stuff ain't cheap. The one panel itself (VM-1) is 700 USD. And it doesn't get much cheaper used. It tends to keep its resale.
