  • AWESOME! YOU ARE AWESOME! THEY ARE REALLY YUMMY!!!

  • love this recipe thanking you xxxx i used coconut in mine aswel x

i also used maple syrup instead of sugar

  • Heyy Betty!, I just wanted to say that my mom makes these ALL the time! She normally makes them for after school snacks 4 us!But my mom freezes them too, THATS MY FAVORITE WHEN THEY ARE FROZEN!!My mom also says she uses less sugar too.

  • Can I skip the peanut butter or substitute it with something else?

  • @SadiaChowdhury You may use nutella, if you like that. It will probably come out okay if you omit the peanut butter altogether.

    --Betty :)

  • do u have to add coco because i ran out

  • @zoya816 These cookie squares do need the cocoa. I have never tried them without it, but I don't think you would be happy with the result.

    --Betty :)

  • Live this video. Very easy to follow. :)

  • if i use butter, what will you recommend, salted or unsalted?

  • @ilovebuden I recommend salted butter.

    --Betty :)

  • This looks delicious Betty although I would have to call it more of a slice than a cookie

  • thanks for the recipe... I am making them for thanks giving tomarrow :-)

  • I just finished making this after watcging the video.... lovely recipe. although it was too much sugar for me. if I reduce the sugar to half.... will the same quantity for all other ingredients work?

  • @KofykatKashyap Yes, you may adjust the sugar on these--half will be great, leaving everything else the same.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thanks a lot.

  • Where's your accent from?! It sounds so cheery!

  • :-/ i thought that butter and margarine were the same thing.

  • these look very yummy and almost the same way you make frogs...ever make those???? they are delis!

  • Ive always loved these!

  • These are a childhood favorite, and how innovative to place them in the Pyrex dish and slice them like bars. :)

  • Gr8 job Betty u are a wonderful cook

  • @BuzzzzBait Yes, it's not No-Cook; you will be using the stove top for the chocolate sauce.

    --Betty :)

  • Only with oatmeal

  • @kittylara1 These are no-bake cookies with oatmeal; how would you like your recipe to be different?

    --Betty :)

  • Can you are some one tell me a recipe for a non bake oatmeal cookies plzzz

  • @kittylara1 Describe the cookie that you want, and I will check on it!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen a oatmeal cookies that are good for you and that does not have lot of suger

    --Betty :)

  • OH MY GOD !!!

we will see you on TV !!?

i'm so glad ,, you deserve it ! no doubt !!

    congrats Betty .

  • @ICantImASaudiGirl I hope you saw the 20/20 show on Friday night. You can still see the entire episode at abcnews(dot)com/2020.

    --Betty :)

  • CONGRATS BETTTYY on ur TV PREMIER

  • @puttjattda101 Thanks so much!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty... I actually didn't have any cocoa on my shelf, so what I did is I used swissmiss rich cocoa mix ;) i was kinda hesitant to do that but I craved for this right after I watch it and so lazy to go out and get a real cocoa powder, and of course since swissmiss is already sweet I used less sugar which is 1 cup... This is a great recipe!!! I love it!!! Thanks...

  • @tryourga Thanks for your great feedback! I'm glad you thought to cut back on the sugar, because your mix already had it. Good job and nice tip!

    ---Betty :)

  • Does it make any difference if i didn't use vanilla extract?

  • @crystalsiti123 No, you can hardly taste any difference at all.

    --Betty :)

  • could you answer ASAP? My brother and mom are leaving Tuesday to NY and I really want to make them no bake cookies. And I have a question I don't have quick cook oats just the ones where have to cook for 5 minutes so what do I do? Cook the oats first then add them into the chocolate mix? Please answer ASAP!

  • @ItsTingie You do not have to use quick-cooking oats; they're just a little less chewy. You may use the regular "Old Fashioned" oats without changing anything in the recipe. They will be great!

    --Betty :)

  • P.S. I might add for any of your viewers having problems, the "1 minute" cooking time is sooooo important. One second over and they set up too fast and too hard. One second under and they won't set at all. I learned that the hard way. :-)

  • @fabfifties You're right--it should be exactly 1 minute, once it comes to a boil.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty,

I've made these for years. It was my Gramma's recipe and she called them TV snacks. However, she did put a few raisins in hers which is yummy.

I never thought about cutting them into squares; what a great idea because I don't move as fast as I once did. :-)

    LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

    ~Judi~

  • @fabfifties Hi Judi! Thanks for the nice comment! I'm glad you enjoy my videos. Thanks for letting me know!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • I made this for my lemonade stand! they are so good!

  • @meganmcpeanutbutter1 Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen your welcome! :) I just made them like an hour ago! :)

  • @meganmcpeanutbutter1 That's great!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Haha ya. :)

  • does chocolate jello mix replace cocoa powder?

  • @xcutecupcakelala No, the pudding mix has sweetener, and this requires unsweetened cocoa.

    --Betty :)

  • can i use barley instead of oats

  • @maryumshah I have never tried this with barley. You might try a half-recipe to see if it works.

    --Betty :)

  • At school we made these cookies and they were delicious.

  • @MISSsupercoolgirl Thanks for your great comment!

    --Betty :)

  • You really inspire me!!! Thank you so much for all of your awesome videos!!

    Mellody from Louisiana

  • @mellodyh Hi Mellody, Thanks for your sweet message. It means a lot to me!

    --Betty :)

  • this is just how i remember my mom making it i got a craving for it today but couldnt remember the measurements

  • very good bvut verrryyy sugaryy!

  • hi betty, i made this today and it tasted great! the only problem is mine won't harden like yours :( does that mean i need more butter or sth? because when i put in butter i just estimated but it did look same amount as what you put in though...

mine was really sticky but not hard even after half a day

  • @nombrechile The mixture is to boil one minute. The effect you have described happens when the boiling is short of one minute.

    --Betty :)

  • hello, betty, i am 12 years old and i enjoy your cooking lessons very much. i would like to know the weight in gram the amount of butter you put in. over here in malaysia, the butter is packed in 250gram packet or 1kg tin. thank you.

  • @Lemon17ful 1/4 cup butter is 56.5 grams.

    --Betty :)

  • this is so great because i don't have an oven :D

  • @nombrechile Great! I'm glad you found the recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • What a lovely kitchen!!

  • Hi Betty! I love the simplicity of this recipe! Just to clarify though, in the video you say "1 1/2 cup of milk; 1 1/2 cup of cocoa; 1 1/2 cup of peanut butter", whereas on your video description, you write 1/2 cup for the following elements. Which one is the accurate measurement? Thanks.

  • @divamama It is 1/2. In the video, I say "one-half" for each of those.

    --Betty :)

  • @KissHope, thank u for the tips... by the way, I reduced the sugar too. Is this part of the reason too?

  • Hi Betty, I just tried this recipe tonight. But my cookie only harden slightly on the surface. its still quite wet inside. Do u know what happen?

  • @lihuanbl No, I don't know what happened, but if you follow the instructions to the letter, the cookies will set up.

    --Betty :)

  • @lihuanbl

Could be not cooking the butter sugar mixture long enough to make the sugar set up a bit. I let my mix boil for 3 or 4 mins constantly mixing and scraping bottom. Also margarine has water in it and some brands more than others, I use real butter and it really makes them taste better. Good luck if you try them again...I also refridgerate to aid the hardness

  • My sister taught me how to make these when I was younger. I like to add one 7 ounce jar of marshmallow creme and one half cup of Heath milk chocolate toffee bits to the recipe. I add the marshmallow creme about 30 seconds after it starts boiling and the Heath milk chocolate toffee bits after I've added the peanut butter. Thanks for your recipes, Betty.

  • your recipes are always great easy to follow I use them all the time.

  • i never thought you could eat raw oat meal, can you????

  • @sunshinihoney Yes, it's fine to eat oatmeal without cooking it--and it's great in these cookies. (This is a well-known recipe.)

    --Betty :)

  • I make No Bake Cookies a little differently.

  • hey betty i got a tip for you when you mesure peanut butter or things that are toufght to clean and scoop out put some plastic rap in the mesuring cup so you dont have to clean alot and its eaiser to remove hope this helps xoxo renee

  • @Sisters4EverABNR That's a great idea! I have used the trick of spraying the measuring cup with cooking oil spray, but I had never tried plastic wrap. Great idea!

    --Betty :)

  • is the cookie hard or is it still chewy after a while? and instead of oatmeal, would rice krispie cereal do?

  • @anniecaoO The cookie hardens up on the outside, but the oatmeal and other ingredients are still chewy inside.

    --Betty :)

  • Hey Betty, could you send me some of your cookies.

  • @SuperSukhi1 Wish I could!

    --Betty :)

  • Another great recipe from the lovely Betty. Keep On Keepin On

  • I've looked for a receipe for this FOREVER. Used to make a variation of this down South, but lost the receipe and couldn't quiet remember. Thanks for posting.

  • Yummy Chocolate chip cookies!! My favorite cookie!!

  • great ideas here posting this for an all year round activity to do with kids, cousins, friends and grandchildren :)

  • I'm allergic to every kind of kind of nut... guess this one's out for me isn't it! :(

  • i want some so bad

  • can we use any peanut avalaible..?

  • @indiantarzansjane Yes, you may use any type of peanut butter.

    --Betty :)

  • is it one and quarter or just quarter cup of margarine..?? looks very delicious..would be trying them..!

  • just made them. SOO GOOD <3

  • @mewiii Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Make your home creasy with Asian women lushfmlk.info

  • what do you used instead of skimmed milk

  • @superluvluv11 Use any type of milk, regular or evaporated will be fine.

    --Betty :)

  • haha you know what's funny,

some ingrediants are from origin dutch.. and american people are used to use them, and say their name.. they think they're saying it right but if you're dutch and you hear it youself it sounds really bad haha but who cares =P

    great vid again betty!

  • this is great i am trying it right now um um um!!!!!

  • is that ok even if you don't cook the oats?

  • @TherealMackyCan Yes, it's great! There are a lot of variations of this recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen i didn't know that...thanks for the info....

  • Im 18 male lol i do alot ok baking and i call these candy cookies or drop cookies that what my family has called them for years, but one thin i notices is are recipe your supposed to add the peanutbutter while your cooking it on the stove and we also use instant oats, and never refrigerate them because refrigeating them dries them out.

  • @HelpSaveMotherEarth what's the difference between an instant cooking oats and quick cooking oats??

  • @haidee2106 Instant oats are usually packaged to be single servings and may be flavored, and usually are rehydrated with hot water without cooking. Quick cooking oats always need to be boiled 1 minute.

    --Betty :)

  • @haidee2106 i use the instant oats because there size is smaller, band you can get them in original which is plain i buy them int the large containers like quick cooking oats its comes down to prefrence, everyone in my family perferes the instant oats over the quick cooking ones because of taste etc... im not bagging on bettys cooking but if you make these cookies do not put them in the fridge the peanut butter will dry out and your cockie is useless.

  • @HelpSaveMotherEarth i apologize for miss-spelling i was on my cell phone

  • Yummmmy.. My fav

  • Your recipes are awesome.I love watching your videos..Keep it up.

  • YUMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYY

  • YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • is it oky if we dont use beanut putter cuz im alergic and i reallywant this recipe

  • @thesamantha327 I think you can get by with just the chocolate alone. When you are making the cookies, add the oatmeal after mixing the other ingredients,a little at a time. You may need more oatmeal or less, or maybe the same. The peanut butter flavor is not needed, but you need the mixture to set up well.

    ---Betty :)

  • Okay!

    Thanks(:

  • what can i use instead of peanut butter?

  • @heyimbackable I think you can make these with chocolate flavor only. Just omit the peanut butter, and when you are adding the oatmeal, add a little at a time, until the mixture will set up well. It may take less oatmeal, or maybe the same.

    --Betty :)

  • @heyimbackable almond butter?

  • @SharpFinale That's a good substitution--also Nutella. I hope heyimbackable is not allergic to all types of nuts.

    --Betty :)

  • For the peanut butter, it's good to spray your spoon and the measuring cup with a little cooking oil ^^

  • Looks good, aunt Betty. :)

  • can you tell me what weight is in a stick of marg

  • @billyfloss1968 One stick of margarine is about 113 grams.

    --Betty:)

  • Hi Betty

I live in Northern Ireland, can you tell me what wait is in the stick of marg.

  • if i dont use cocoa how much sugar should i use?

  • @Charmberries If I were leaving out the cocoa, I would reduce the sugar only by a small amount. The ingredients still need sugar.

    --Betty :)

  • i dont have Vanilla extract is there something else i can use?

  • @helloimjudith Some people who can't get vanilla extract can get vanilla powder. If you can find that, it would work. Actually, you can leave out the vanilla entirely, and the cookies will still taste great!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

thanks for replying so fast :) i do have vanilla powder so yeah thanks

  • aww betty! your recipes are so easy and yummy!! I Love your videos! by the way you always look so pretty in your videos :)

  • i had all the ingredients but vanilla exrtact i looked everywhere where did she get it?

  • @SuperCutiepie4u Vanilla extract is usually displayed with the spices at your grocery store.

    --Betty :)

  • thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of cooking to us. I found a different style of cooking this before and I failed when I made this cookie :( I am going to try to make it again tomorrow using your cooking style.Although, I really think it's a lot of sugar.Isn't it very sweet ? Japanese doesn't like too sweet in their desserts.Id like to lessen it but i hope it wont affect the consistency. Last time I made it, it was not dewy :(I subbed btw.

  • @luckymirai You should be able to lessen the sugar without any problems! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • These r a bit sugary. could we use 1 or 1.5 cups of sugar instead? Thx so much for this vid!

  • @MSaphrodite77 Yes, you may lessen the sugar without hurting destroying the consistency in this type of cookie.

    --Betty :)

  • They look great, a bit like Swedish chocolate balls, but cooked and with peanut butter... Very much my taste! A tip regarding measuring the peanut butter is to just very lightly spray the measuring cup/utensil with canola oil (or, you know, anything greasy). Just a bit, so that it won't affect the recipe, but it'll make the peanut butter come out a million times easier! Same can be used for pretty much anything sticky, like syrups and stuff... :)

  • this is a great help for me especially that i'm only staying w/ some folks (so no appliances really). i can make a lot for everyone at home, too.

    thanks!

  • Oh your videos are so nice and helpful thank you so much and God Bless you:)

  • do u have to use peanut butter?

  • @SSmlove No, but it would be nice to have something to replace it--maybe nutella?

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen ok thank you :)

  • @CMaNatTack424 Thanks for the wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Om, nom, nom, nom! How about adding raisins, nuts, and coconut? Yummy!

Betty, did you ever try spraying your measuring cup with the canola spray before you measure out the peanut butter? I'm thinking it might help the peanut butter slide out a little easier. Whaddya' think? :-)

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! Those are all wonderful ideas! Thanks for the great tips!

    --Betty :)

  • thank you so much. i've always wanted ti make cookies without using the oven. XD

  • I'm glad you can use the recipe! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • i love yur shirt!!!

  • Thanks! That's nice of you!

    --Betty :)

  • It was in my 30's that I tasted these cookies.I thought they were heaven. Its just another thing my Mom didn't make. The grocery stores have good versions so I usually buy some as I don't need to be eating on so many.:)The stores have the choc ones and the peanut butter ones.

  • These have been around a long time. They are good, but you're right, you don't want to eat too many at one time!

    --Betty :)

  • fab x

  • Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Yes, just do a search for black bean soup. I think I called it "Betty's Mexican-Style Black Bean Soup Recipe". I hope you like it!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • That's a nice thought,

    --Betty :)

  • Hello Betty. thanks alot for the recipe, I cooked it last day it was very very amazing

but i want to ask you if i can replace anything instead of oat or oatmeal, because i don't prefer oat that much, i dont used to eat it or used in my food this is my first time to cook it, so if there is any thing instead of oat plz tell me, because i love the whole cookie just like the cookies that served at the fancy bakeries or restaurants

  • You could try some cereal (crumbled), if you like!

    --Betty :)

  • This recipe was a lifesaver tonight, Betty! I completely forgot about my office's cookie party tomorrow, then remembered this video and recipe! I only had about 2 cups of plain oats on hand, so I had to use about 2 1/2 packets of "Cinnamon Roll" oatmeal to substitute, but these no-bakes came out great. Thanks for a quick, easy and delicious treat! :)

  • I'm so glad you were able to use my recipe in a pinch! Thanks for the wonderful feedback!

    --Betty :)
