  • @ausroar I believe the main chords are B7, E7+9 and F#7+9

  • i cant play with HIM! watching me hahaha

  • @jd1995810 lol

  • Steve vai slowly watches you FAIL

  • @aggeliki5z Steve vai doen't play, he rapes music.

  • @StatusQuonald Steve doesn't rape music ;), but this picture is the wrong one for a blues backingtrack.

  • @fireman0179 i think so too, but the question is does it matter? does it influence the music and the quality of it?

  • @fireman0179 I think he does, Bart :P

  • MOTLEY CRUE

  • i lost 5 kilo's of coke...... i think someone took it when i was asleep......

  • who the fuck needs john mayer ? I am the king !

  • That's Major, not Minor.

  • da pra ficar o dia inteiro , improvisando em cima disso hehe

  • I feel like Billy Gibons with this track :D

  • @Oczocentryczny I gotta say this does sound like something ZZ Top would play, doncha think haha

  • Because it is blues, you can play either minor or major pentatonics, but this track is in B major. But hey, thanx anyway for the track! peace!!

  • This is B Major not Minor

  • @GreNadeNL is B minor pentatonic

  • @isaimcbreinguitar

Every key has its own pentatonic scale.

  • @GreNadeMusicNL it just depends on how u wanna play it. In this case of backing track, both minor and major go well, as long as you know how to do it :)

  • What the fuck is Steve Vai doing there?

  • @snk07 Being arrogant.

  • @snk07 Being awesome 8]

  • i thin that BC is for B major not minor

  • @seanramery

Yeah!! I actually play a lot better on this one

  • lost 5 kilos jamming to this

  • @mati357 lost five kilo's? say whut

i lost 6 guitar strings jamming on this !XD

  • @mati357 me too! i took a huge DUMP... just kidding

  • Getting... Distracted...By... Steve Vai's epic sexy staredown...!!!

  • anybody else find this track to be very fun, in particular? This way one of the best tracks ever!

  • wtf, why is it so good?

  • Sounds like the count in has a gate on it ^^

  • Great fun. Thanks!

  • awesome ! soloing over it is so much fun !

  • Try all modes in Bm. not only one works :) Oh and LEARN YOUR THEORY!!

  • I just had the best fucking jam!

  • i hate that fuckin Steve Vai photo. It's garish as fuck and doesn't fit the tracks at all. Oh, and btw Vai sucks badly at playing blues, he is only a bragger with a lot of theory and a small soul.

  • @beahuty agreed. but you shouldn't even see the pic if you're using this track properly :)

  • lol 7 bears dont know how to play guitar in this backingtrack

  • AWESOME TRACK!!!! it rocked ya o ya ya o ya :p

  • I. chord = B Pentatonic Major/minor

    IV. chord = B Dorian

    V. chord = F# min arpeggio

It sounds cool to me :)

  • Why Steve Vai? I clicked thinking "Wow, shit from a genius" and this is what i hear? FUCK YOU!

  • @zvegasz Lol, if you see picture of Vai in something, does it mean it's made by him? Besides this is GOOD!

  • I've done 5:36 minutes of solo :D...well done man

  • great track ;P

  • Some of you guys really need to work on your ear too, lol. Learning to tune by ear is a great way.

  • B minor is the same as D major. The main riff is like a B power chord, then up to a D that slides into E. Bee, baa, dee, eee. Bee, baa, Dee, Eee. Play the riff, then come in on a ringing D note, and jam away ;)

  • @MeInReverse8 so that means I can play D minor, B minor and E minor over this track? ;)

  • @heroboy22 b minor or d major it has 2 sharps F# and C#

  • Great track!!! Check out the tracks by Trihouse Montreal.

  • i did some soloing over this song :) go check it out

  • @jasper2252 I agree!!

  • it's an abcdefucking who carez.. just play and hear

  • I lol at people who don't think this is in the key of B minor. Some of you people need to go back over your music theory.

  • I'm never one to comment on these things.. but thanks a lot for doing this. All your jamtracks are intense.

  • Keep up the good work.

  • Awesome track

  • It's F# minor Aeolian, B dorian, A major pentatonic, F# minor penta.

  • try in a minor, that sounds pretty good to!

  • okay look people its a mixolydian track. play a b minor pentatonic and a g sharp minor pentatonic with it. it works.

  • Bm sounded fine to it.

  • Who cares if its minor or majpr, pentatonic works both ways

  • Wow.. Im really enjoying this track!! Thx!!

  • Where's B Major again? :)

  • i dont care..i freestyle it and tis track is the tseb!

  • Sweetest rock backing track on youtube!

  • that's b major

  • b major

  • very nice

  • wicked on the minor pentatonic this is such a great learning tool cheers

  • B minor and its fun to jam with too.

  • vai rules

  • i murdered the neighbors whole family based apun this being in b minor.. jokes on them if its in D.

  • Technically it's the Key of D and the Bm is the relative minor. However, it could be played in the B minor mode.

  • @nyjbarnes No, the creator was right. B minor is as much of a key as D major.

  • @nyjbarnes technically the b Aeolian mode*

  • Thanks alot, this really helped me out with the pentatomic scale :)

  • b minor for sure

  • yeah this is B major

  • Such an awesome track. I jammed my fucking balls off for like 3 hours to this.....never truly felt the blues until today. Throw a D Major scale over this and there is no way you aren't going to have a good time.

  • its a major blues, all dominant cords B7,E7 and F#7

  • mix the minor with major ;)

  • @DonConstantinos I agree, mixt it up =D. The track lends it self to really cool improv, posibilities

  • Everyone bitchin about what key it's in, figure it out! Use your ears never mind what key it's in.

  • Yeah guys, I have this track its in B Minor Pentatonic blues, I've played over it several times in that scale, thats the one.

  • The rythm guitar is a little too dominant for my taste, but not bad.

  • sounds like modern version of "rock me baby"

  • @Shredthemstrings4388 i need help. i can play and stuff just fine but i dont know how to explain what im doin. and i dont get modes. if youre serious id just like to be able to play up and down the neck and not be stuck in one position.

  • @theponchoman You dont need to understand modes. This track is in Bminor, so if you know you minor pentatonic scale youll be fine. There are 5 notes in the pentatonic scale, in this particular scale they are B, D,E,F#,A.

The best thing to do is to find all these notes on the neck and just practice moving from one to the other, Try using slides up and down the neck until you know where they all are. Thats the best way to open up the fretboard, good luck

  • @ACdeanSEE i can play pentatonic and blues stuff. i'm just trying to learn more about modes.

  • Hi!! ....You have nothing to do...? You're just sitting on your computer... procrastinating..,being bored to death? Then why don't you check out my channel and perhaps my frickin' guitar solo?? You should, I know I would!!!!

  • It works with B Major Pentatonic ;)

  • cool but kinda boring - try jonhallmusic or in itunes look up jon hall. Waaaaaaaaay better but not for newbies.

  • @Shredthemstrings4388 ME!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!! :)

  • I was smoking a cigarette when I started ripping up a solo over this track. I found myself unable to take the cigarette out of my mouth while shredding up a sweet solo, and so I just let the ashes fall on me and my guitar.

    Fun jam! Thank you man!

  • try some bud next time see if its not the best damn jam you ever had

  • The best thing about jamming baked is it might sound like shit but its the best thing you've ever heard at the moment. Lol. Whenever i play high i become a minimalist

  • @thefaketahare Yeah man its insane everything is funner.

  • @thefaketahare If you drink 'bud' it probably is..now give me some decent one xp

  • @thefaketahare

lol I do think I'll take you up on that offer ;D haha. The thing is for some people (lets be honest) they only THINK they sound better because they're high.

  • @stride7860 yeah but for most you are actually playing better. But im even better on mushrooms haha, well, alot more creative anyway.

  • @thefaketahare haha damn straight

  • how does scale work i know basics like you play a major when your root is A. what i am talking about is how to play using different scales

    ??

  • @lincolnvelasquez learn different scales then when you know maybe 5 or 6 learn modes and what scales work together that way you know this scales can mix with this one and this one can end with another. i hope that made any sense to you

  • @Neoclassicalman what are the modes that you are talking about?

  • learn Bm scale then come here and play along in time going up and down the scale, u will hear how it fits and then start making up your own patterns by jumbling the same notes around.

  • em you need to learn the scales first, there arew thousands of patterns, and 12 different notes for each pattern. a good start would be the majour position. because think of it this way, you know the notes on the bottom string? then couont up to the key you want to play in so the starting note is the key. e.g. for this you would want a minor scale that starts on the bottom string, and since this is in B, count to the 6th fret and play any note in the scale

  • That was fun :D

  • its best if you stick to pentatonic with the blue note, with a touch of b dorian and b mixolydian here and there. b aeolian wouldnt work that good because of the minor 6th (in this case G), takes the blues out of the blues

  • Ionian? Aeolian? Dorian? PENTATONIC FTW!

  • @MrLino

    Someone call my name?

  • @MrLino its in a mixolydian mode dude haha

  • @MrLino FTW is using pentatonic minor blues with some dorian notes once in a while.

  • @MrMetalMayhem Aye. That's what differs regular players from masters, being able to strategically throw an "off-scale" note once in a while.

  • Drakaland, you are high on crack.

It can either be B minor or B Dorian.

  • Maybe I'm missing something, and I'm willing to admit. But the 6th mode of D major(ionian) is B minor (aeolian) which is what this song works in for me. Dorian mode off of D major is not B major Dorian.

    B minor (aeolian) is made up of B, C#, D, E, F#. G, A - Whereas B major Dorian mode has C#, D#, E, F#, G#, A#, B. This isn't playable with this track.

  • @Drakaland B Dorian is not 'wrong' for this backing track. I find the maj 6th to work alot better than the m6 - it clashes with too many of the chord tones imo. I never think "Oh I can use C# locrian over this Bm backing track!" because the notes are the same and I just let myself move across the fretboard in Bm.

However, using B Mixolydian or B Dorian help to bring out a different sound - it doesn't matter if they're not strictly 'correct' as long as they fit the chords and sound good.

  • I wanted to add, It might be that I misunderstand what you mean and we're not talking about the same thing. I'm just working off basic theory with the major scale and the 7 modes of that scale.

  • steve vai! (cool track to)

  • Great sound, enjoyed the play.

  • This track comes from the book 'total blues jam session for guitar' (Hal Leonard). Its called Blow Chunks and appears on one of Robin Trower's album.s

  • just play b pentatonic/dorian and you can throw in the E licks if you want

  • wow sick.

  • steve vai ftw :-P

  • I like this track! thank you! and yes, it's in B, but it doesn't really matter if you are soloing, cause you will probably be using te B minor pentatonic scale. Anyways- thanks a million!

  • b works perfectly, especially when you hit it with an 8th or 16th note stretch. Sounds great.

  • Cool

  • Someone tell me if the key isn't right, thanks.

  • it isn in B min :)

  • uh, sorry?

  • ım glad ı can help

  • @CreamerMusic I know this is like a year later but I think he means it's not minor. The blues scale take the 1st, b3rd, 4th, b5th, 5th, and the b7th from the major scale, so it can't be minor, even if it is in a pentatonic box

  • @CreamerMusic lmfao you ask to be told if it's not then get pissy when someone does. hahaha. btw this song blows

  • @CreamerMusic

    B (minor) pentatonic

  • can YOU be more wrong cuz it is in B

  • You can play it in Bminor also, the main scale for blues is a B minor Pentatonic.

  • It is too in B minor or D major. You guys saying otherwise are on crack.

  • I'm referring to soloing over it btw. D major scale (sticking mostly on aeolian (bm) ) works throughout.

  • d ionian has the same notes as b aeolian so of course it would work as long as you keep to the root note of b..

  • @penguen2 yes it is ???

  • @penguen2 It so is

  • its in B mate..

  • Actually if you want to get technical it's not really in B either. It's a blues so it changes keys with each chord, but if you're refering to home base it's more of a B mixolydian, which would make it in the key of E, but at the end of the day we're mostly using B minor to solo so I think the description is fine.

  • yeah shhhh, its in B..

  • When you're talking blues it's just in B

  • I realize that. I was responding to something someone else was saying.

  • blues don't typically change keys with the chords...that's more characteristic of jazz..

  • ...are you supid? Like I already said to the other asshole. I was responding to something someone else was saying. Do you understand?

  • are you ok?

  • ...are you?

  • yeah i'm good

  • @CreamerMusic it is BM

  • @CreamerMusic It IS in Bm.

  • @CreamerMusic What is all the fuss about. It is a great backing track and the key is clearly B minor.

  • @CreamerMusic it is in the right tonality

  • @CreamerMusic B is right. The riff is in B and it's a 1-4-5 progression.

  • yes it is

  • @CreamerMusic It's in G I'm pretty sure.
