Get me an electric race bike that can do 100 - 120 mph and has a range of at least 60 mph and id but it instead of an R6 and for more money anyday !!!!
But now it just hasnt got the mucle yet. Great bike though so far for the average scooter commuter. very impressive and a quarter for a full tank. Now that s real freedom !!!
@ectoplasma2 if you search "Brammo Empulse" or go to brammo.com, you will see that they have a new bike scheduled for delivery next summer, which does 100+mph and comes in a 60, 80, and 100 range.
Electric bikes are cool BUT people need to stop making smug remarks about people who use gasoline powered bikes... not all of us can afford to buy some ridiculously expensive underpowered EV that has piss poor range and looks like crap. A ninja 250 is probably just as carbon friendly in the long run.
There's been another price cut on the Brammo Enertia - MSRP is now $7995, and for California residents the tax incentives bring the price all the way down to $5995 - and I think they just might have found the magic sweet spot for the bike! Let's hope so. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go digging between my couch cushions, and see how close I can get to six thousand bucks!
@rottingpig5 Call or visit your local BestBuy, and see if they're on sale nationwide. Here in Southern California, the Brammo is available in a BUNCH of Best Buy stores. It's also worth pointing out that Brammo is *quickly* moving the game on, with the Enertia PLUS, which doubles the range to 80 miles! Also their new Empulse sportsbike, which will go 100 miles AND 100 mph! I've seen bits online about faster "Level 2" charging for Enertia Plus and Empulse - I'd email Brammo for details.
They sure did. And if you go down any ol' day, they will direct you on a 10-15 minute "beach ride," which will give you plenty of opportunities to see what the Enertia can do.
Oh nice. They have the right idea. From experience, it's hard to get a motorcycle dealership to let you have a test ride.
Yup, with that price drop, I'm sure a lot of people see the bike in a new light. If I had a job and didn't have a 750 gas bike, I wouldn't think twice about it.
I really like how they look. Just need to wait for the price to come down and I will be getting one. Not sure how you can talk shit about the price. How many electric bikes were out in the market two years ago? Just give it time and maybe the bankers can use their bonuses to buy few hundred each and they will come down in price.
Amen, brother. At the same time, I gotta hand it to him for coming over and climbing into the saddle. He didn't go inside for a test ride, but I think it's entered his consciousness now, and I'm guessing he'll be positively disposed toward the next bike, and the next after that, as the breed improves. He was British, and he was riding a Triumph... bit of nationalism, there. Maybe if the Brammo had a Union Jack painted on it...
Give him further credit; he could be driving a SUV....I'm sure he asked about the price... Price/economy; I'm not so sure he is "the world of yesterday". Don't underestimate his generation's desire to "save the planet". And you shouldn't assume that he didn't take a test ride; I bet he did and wasn't impressed, just edited out! We all just need to be happy with the limitations, I'll be glad when gas is $20 a gallon!! We'll all be happy going slower then!
It was his generation that started the whole idea of watching over the mother Earth and taking responsibility for actions taken; humans "trends" are not easy to change. Just look at MPG today; actually worse than 20 years ago on average. No offence intended by the way!
I'm glad he responded to my invitation, came over, and swung a leg into the saddle. I think he was open-minded to the idea. He did ask about price and range, and they weren't in the sweet spot yet, as far as he was concerned. No harm, no foul. He may very well have come back another day and gone for a test ride - I'm the guy who edited the footage, and THAT day he mounted up & rode off. The world of yesterday is the world driven by fossil fuels, and for now, he's still there.
Good stuff! Change will come, I'm still hoping for those higher gas prices LOL! Hey, tell him that it's easier to keep that joint lit when you don't have to worry about dropping it into your gas tank! !!
True enough. The Brammo CEO claims that the single biggest component in terms of price is the battery pack, and that as battery prices drop, so will the bike's. As the salesman says, their initial target demographic is the "urban trendsetter," and that fella usually has some jack in his pocket. I'll be watching for the price to drop, as well... though I hope those who can afford it, will buy it, and help drive down the price.
Yes, definitely, the lithium batts are the astronomically expensive. I'm thinking they won't come down in price until EVs, not electric motorcycles, catch on... which seems to be around the corner with Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model S, Volt....etc.
Nice helmet there officer

Right on, brother! Let us know how it works out... (I think you're gonna love it!)

did best buy let you take the bike outside of the parking lot so that you can get it up to full speed

They sure did. And if you go down any ol' day, they will direct you on a 10-15 minute "beach ride," which will give you plenty of opportunities to see what the Enertia can do.

oh nice! I expected them to be wary of liabilities and hence allowing only a parking lot ride. So you needed moto insurance to test ride?
jpmorgan187 2 years ago
Nope. Auto insurance was sufficient.
And that new price cut is the real deal! Really brings it within reach of a lot more people...

I like the chubby guy on the obese motorcycle with the Whole Foods bag of groceries perched precariously on his lap.
Wrong on so many levels.

Oh, I hadn't made the connection that the guy with the large sack.. on his lap, was the guy that hopped on the electric scoot..
Okay. I get him now. Try whole foods, try electric bikes. We'll make a concerned citizen out of him yet!

At $12k, they've got a long ways to get before the bike is affordable to the average joe.
