Why is this labeled as a "cop" dash cam? I don't think it's a cop car. It's more likely from a regular car with a dash cam anyone can buy on Ebay. Cop dash cams have more than just the time and date on them. I could be mistaken but I saw this on another Youtube account a long time a go and they didn't mention it was a cop.

If you do the math between the estimated distance of two stationary objects and the time it took the cop to travel it, you would get the cop's speed. From the math i did, they were doing anywhere between 35-40 mph. The speed limit was 35. Therefor the cop was not driving recklessly and the SUV that pulled out in front of him is at fault, and passing on the right is not illegal in all states.

The light turned yellow about 5 feet from the intersection stripe. Would you have stopped? I doubt it and don't think anyone could stop that fast. There was a slight hill just before the impact, which affected the SUV's ability to see the cop car racing down the street towards him. In my opinion the cop could have slow down a bit before impact and driven around the SUV, who froze in place as I probably would of done when I pull into a street which looks clear only to have a car appear out of nowhere at a high rate of speed.

I've been in this situation before and all I can say it goes either way, I live in front of a highway anyways its either ones fault because the cop could have easily maneuver from the suv direction, but its also the suv driver's fault for not looking on both directions. When the police, pulled in to the highway, they told me its both of the drivers fault on it, but they asked me if I wanted to fight it in court or just take the blame, I took the blame because consciously it was my fault.
Clearly the Cops Fault !! If He Wasn't Speeding he would've had Enough Time to Stop ! When he Hit the SUV he Almost Flipped it Over. Plus the SUV let another Car go by First before he Drove Forward. Though the officer may have been going too fast, it's hard to tell for sure as there's no speed display in the video. Having driven many Crown Vics, and Grand Marquis, I can say that those tiny V8s engines are always racing. The sound of the engine doesn't determine actual speed.

That was totally avoidable. Truck had a stupid driver. I look both ways when pulling out BUT as I'm about to pull out I'm ALWAYS looking in the direction of what could possibly hit me... as I pulled out "here" IF I was the truck driver I would have been looking to my LEFT and noticed.. oh... there is lights coming. "A bit too fast" is nice speak for SPEEDING, which cops are not free to do on a whim, no more than the rest of us. Clearly the Cops Fault !! If He Wasn't Speeding he would've had Enough Time to Stop ! When he Hit the SUV he Almost Flipped it Over. Plus the SUV let another Car go by First before he Drove Forward. Once the Cop sees the SUV is the Same Time the Driver in the SUV can See the Cop Coming !!! And ther SUV did NOT have a STOP SIGN either.

I'm fully aware how much the SUV is at fault but...
This could have been completely avoided.
Had the cop used his high speed suspension to simply emergency maneuver around the SUV instead of locking the brakes no crash would have happened.
But, much like the reason the Escalade stopped, the cop panicked.

Though the officer may have been going too fast, it's hard to tell for sure as there's no speed display in the video. Having driven many Crown Vics, and Grand Marquis, I can say that those tiny V8s engines are always racing. The sound of the engine doesn't determine actual speed.

@UnitedWaysProduction Eh unfourtanatly in those situations drivers freeze in the spots, my dads accident was a sign of that. 16 year old girl pulled out into my dads lane while he was on his police bike, she froze and turned into him instead, he instinctivly was already breaking but by contact he hit her at 45 mph. She froze and for that almost made my father loose his life, people dont think though, they go oh headlights ill have time to freeze and just go, they dont think loll.

That was totally avoidable. Truck had a stupid driver. I look both ways when pulling out BUT as I'm about to pull out I'm ALWAYS looking in the direction of what could possibly hit me... as I pulled out "here" IF I was the truck driver I would have been looking to my LEFT and noticed.. oh... there is lights coming. As I got to the middle of the road I would have looked RIGHT because traffic is coming from that direction. People are just stupid anyways. Truck had LOTS of time to not pull out.

@CUPCAKESNBULLETS Headlights can be deceiving, especially at night. Distance and perception can skew in certain environments/situations. "A bit too fast" is nice speak for SPEEDING, which cops are not free to do on a whim, no more than the rest of us. Plus it looks like a residential area, speeding is treated even worse there by courts.
