One of my favorite Mets players back in the day. Had a poster of him up on my wall. Just a shame he had a drug problem and its great to see he has his life in order. I have all his rookie cards too.
Wonder if David Cone will ever write about the episode when he came back to a hotel after doing an interview to find Strawberry and Gooden double-teaming his girlfriend.
I SWEAR SWEAR SWEAR SWEAR ON MY LIFE i no darryl, he is a good friend of my uncle i swear im not lying!!! he stays at my uncles house, i saw him this morning!!!!! i swear swear on my life im not making it up!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I like Daryl he was my favorite hitter an Doc was my favorite pitcher i was honored to meeting Daryl at a card show in Long Island Ny with his youn son...man what a cool guy--he over came soooo much.
Strawberry was a great player and a good man, he just had a drug problem like so many people today and he is only human, Love you Strawman, Thanks for giving us a World Series Championship in 86
My favorite player growing up. I loved watching him play. Yes he had problems, but no one can say they wouldn't have caved under all the pressure etc. He's clean now and I respect him for trying to help others. It just makes me mad that he was introduced to drugs by other baseball players.
In the words of Marlon Brando "I could have been a contender".Daryl had so much potential, its unbelievable. He could have hit 600 home runs.Talk about a waste of potential.
Darryl needs to stop getting in trouble. First it was cocaine then it was assault, then slapping his wife, then colon cancer, then sentenced to jail, then lying to the judge, and now he's filing for divorce
I has two posters in my bedroom, Doc Gooden, and Darryl, and somehow i felt Darryl would be the one who would survive his missteps off the field. Its a shame New york was a blessing and a curse for ballplayers in the 90's, with the coke, women and clubbing and i'm so glad that DJ has shown the way for young talents on just how to play and behave in NYC's tough scrutiny.Awesome!
Have to agree wilderjai about DJ. I hope that he and Darryl Sr can have a good relationship and that hopefully Darryl can keep him from the pitfalls. DJ has shown that he a fine athlete with a good attitude given all he has had to deal with. God Bless both of them and I'm looking forward to see great things from DJ. Check out my site for Darryl strawberrysfieldforeverdotcom. There is a message board there too for Darryl fans.
I second that Debbie. I loved Darryl and the Mets/Yankee teams he played on. I followed him his whole career. He was a great and unique player. God Bless him and I hope he is safe now.
Awsome video. Darryl looks great. Glad to see he is healthy & getting his life back on track and doing good things. God Bless you Darryl and Thanks for the memories. strawberrysfieldforeverdotcom

Darryl probably would've hit 500 homers had he not done cocaine and got busted.
But he did, so he needs to focus on living the rest of his life. Nobody is perfect.

Fuck that, he would have had 600 lol. It's sad to think what Darryl and Dwight Gooden would have done if it wasn't for that shit.
