@ArmyElevenBravo great observation. It is indeed planned for future versions! The mini-jack connectors of mobile devices are not suited to a live music situation - they are too delicate. Part of my intended plan is to get electronic music gear up to the same durability as rock music gear! So it's ready for the wildest show.

It's more about what WILL BE done with this, and other similar devices than actually delivering the ultimate PERFORMANCE - that is the key word here. I know what improv is. It's making CONSCIOUS decisions on the spot. "Will I go this way or will I go that way." But still, both ways make sense and could have been thought out in advance.

The thing that YOU call improv is actually non-arguable randomness. You can't explain why you hold your fingers this way or that way. You have no idea of what your doing. Hendrix had a perfect idea of what he was doing.

Check out a 1 hour film called "Those Who Make Noise", for example? And let's not forget, Rock and Roll, Jazz, HipHop etc. were once called "noise" rather than music, by those who were not yet into the styles?

@jbcoker perhaps, but I like to think this is better than a "keytar" because it uses both hands equally - my design can actually be turned around and used in either direction! (investors - take note!)  A "keytar" WASTES the left hand as only a pitch bend, and maybe a modulation wheel - the right hand has to do nearly everything. Also - an iPad can sound ( and interact) like ANYTHING with all the software available. A keytar is ONLY a piano keyboard that you use while standing up.

@HermerTV I believe that electronic music performance depends on 3 important elements - 1 The Sound Generation System 2 The Controller and User Interface 3 The Performer. Audiences today like something more than standing behind a laptop! With the Mantaray, I am adding to the controller factor, making it more visible. ( Another option is video projections! Which as a VJ, I also produce. ) A concert experience is about more than just sound - all the senses are involved.
