However, In this case she felt at the time that was the right thing to do or say. The reality is that in politics, things change. You can believe something fervently and then after a bit experience or insight completely change your mind. Bickering about what she said when asked a probing question is not helpful.

I didn't like John Howard but under his reign unemplyment was at it's lowest at the time, he did this without major infrastucture spending, if he was to spend and that's a hyperthetical at this point things would be better than they are now. Many people got $900 and free insulation and a revamped school but at what cost? Now we are being taxed to pay for all of those promises, I might add those promises were only kept to help shore up support for Rudd/ Labor party into the next election.
