  • excellent video, appreciate all the hard work you done, :)

  • My unibody macbook pro gets really hot in the top half and the left sode over the speaker.. while playing a game it gets too hot to touch..

  • First off, Thats the microphone and the reason it gets so hot there because thats where it gets it power from the charger :)

  • yeah and playing on battery it gets hot there. i know that it should get hot there, but 90+ degrees yeah.. and i know that there is a mic on that side along with the speaker.

  • great vid!!!! good to see someone in the uk doin a review thts actually relevent unlike the yanks who just talk shit!!

    macbooks are the way forward!!!

  • Yanky doodle dandy

  • how much is 8 pounds in american money

  • about $13

  • He said 800 pounds btw

  • You didn't review the most important: hardware and performance :o

  • yes, because thats relevant to how YOU USE IT, hence why i have left benchmarks for you to see, no point, IN MY VIEW to review it based on my use.

  • Hmm, allright.

  • I just bought a mac of ebay and i was wondering if any body knew how to change the name without reinstalling leopard. It looks like this in finder

    places

    destop

    bob

    applications

    documents

  • its preety long ass review

  • DRB UK, Heat is an issue

  • Yo DRBUK!

Thx for putting all these detailed review vids up, they really helped me out and I can gladly tell you I'll have mine next saturday ^^

    Keep it up mate!

    Greetz from Belgium

  • apple should have all of their products have the mag safe connector. especially the ipod chargers.

  • aluminum is not a very good heat conductor. this is why it dosnt feel as hot.

  • O_o

Any metal will always be a better conductor than any "Plastic" (Polycarbonates)

and for your information Aluminium is in the 4th place in metallic thermal conductors only bested by Gold (3rd), Copper (2nd) and silver (1st), then you've got better : crystal carbon : Natural Diamond (2nd) and Synthetic Diamond (1st).

"Alumin-um" may not be a good "heat conductor" but "Alumin-i-um" is one of the best that exist on Earth !!!

  • thanks for the tip nerd!

  • oh and heat dissipation/conduction (at least in notebook) doesn't work they way you think of It

Bigger the dissipation surface the coller the notebook is

bigger the thermal conductivity factor of the notebook enclosure : the cooler the laptop gets

unless you've got some boeing vents (5" thick notebooks)

Btw : those are not nerd knowledge they are basic Knowledge learned from school before age of 12...

I may be a nerd on other topics, on this one I just payed attention :P

  • whatever you say geek-bait.

  • Great Video!

  • this are so great man this help me decideing to get this even more

  • Do you think it's worth £729 for the one you have or should I go for £780 for the new mbp 13'.

  • In my opinion, definatley go for the 780 pound MBP. It is 50 pounds extra, but you are getting a better computer, and your computer is more future proof (meaning, it will last longer before you need to upgrade).

  • i would get the new one it's a couple dollars/pounds more and you'll get the newest generation laptop, the new 13 inch MBP also has a 7 hour battery life

  • Hey Man, look i wanted to say thanks for these reviews, it really helped me think about if i want this or not. So thanks Adrian you rock,

From a long time subscriber from back in the G4 Cube days, -Jack

  • the battery life seams to be crap, I can get 4:40 hours with everything turned on Wi-Fi, bluetooth using the mighty mouse full screen brightness whilst doing movie editing! on the 2008 white MacBook.

  • dam really that one good battery i get like 4:00 with mine black macbook 2008

  • I think that may want to consider buying a new battery.

  • great review!

I liked the way you talked about each aspect of the macbook (i.e. trackpad, display etc.) in seperate videos to ensure that you made each part detailed and informative.

Keep up it up man and I cannot wait until your next video! =]

  • if someone doesnt know whether to buy an apple notebook after watching all of these videos, i dont know what could they possibly need to watch to make up their mind

  • One more thing...you said the MacBook had dedicated 256mb VRAM but its actually shared with the system memory

  • Hmm u sure, because i think the advantage of the nvidia 9400, is that it is dedicated...if anyone knows, please reply back !

  • 9400 is not a discreet (dedicated) Graphic card, but an integrated chipset in the same way as were Intel GMA (900, 950, 3100, etc), but if not as powerfull as discreet graphic card, nVidia chipset 9400 is a lot more powerfull than those from Intel.

and of course the VRAM is taken from (shared with) the RAM of the computer.

  • The only complaint I have with the Mag Safe is the brick. It gets HOT, and im talking hotter than my MBP when I have CPU under load and the 9600GT running.

  • It's always the case, powerbrick gets hot, whatever brand you pick (for 40W and Up)

the only thing to do is not to put it in a confined place...

  • hats of to u adrian you done an amazing job doing theses videos im sure it will help alot of people!

  • Great series my friend. I figured I would wait til the end and then commend your effort. But seriously, great detail. I still believe something is wrong with my battery. I guess this is what I get for boasting about removal batteries :P

  • still having prbs ? how long do u get out of ur battery then, if not 4/5 hours ?

  • i pronounce it aluminim

  • I'm looking at around 3.5 hrs MAX... which is pissing my off. But we'll see. I'll just exchange it sooner or later. All in all, I love the unibody I have. Removal batteries rock :P And you HAVE to get COD4 for the mac :P

  • Perfect timing drbuk. Because today I'm buying my second Mac. A 13" MacBook Pro. Partly thanks to you.

  • oh nice ! which model, the low or high end one ? i think the high end one is the 2.5GHz

  • I went for the 2.26GHz model. It's my secondary computer so I don't need a lot of speed. And thank you for all your Macintosh insights and opinions.

  • You love saying Aluminium Unibody MacBook lol don't you?

  • its a headache i tell u.lol.

  • great review!
