I always think it is very sad when the studio cut is better than the live version. Completely lacking in any soul whatsoever. Disappointing.

I think it's great. A good song carries itself and doesn't require a lot of slick studio tracking/effects/gating etc. to provide it with "soul". It's just a naked version.

Kinda like a significant other, they look great all dolled up when you're out on the town, or they look great naked when you're home in bed, it would be a little awkward to naked in the nice restuarant. It's a case of context.

wise words voxsupreme. yeah, i agree - Aimee Mann doesn't participate in all the extraneous bullshit that captivates a lot of other musicians. but then again, she's the real thing, genuine not processed or packaged. certainly one of the most intelligent and captivating singer/songwriters out there. why isn't she the major star she deserves to be? never bet on the general public to make the best choices! like amy, there are scores of brilliant artists who never get the recognition they deserve...

Everybody asks why Aimee Mann isn´t a huge, massively famous artist. Well, I guess it has something to do with the fact that she doesn´t flash her tits or gropes herself between her legs, which of course is mandatory among the "stars" of today. Aimee Mann simply writes great songs, plays her scruffy J160-E delicately and performs her quite tricky numbers with a one-of-a-kind beautiful, almost shy voice. A true Artist.
