  • hey im sorta into ham myself but im looking to get rid of the old bubble packs pretty much because they suck. what kind of affordable radio would you reccomend for me? i was thinking about a the UHF GP300 as there are a few GMRS repeaters in my area. please tell me what you would reccomend best

  • Hi Larry, I had this beam antenna up before. I live in the Berkshires of Western Mass. This antenna has good gain. I don't have alot of ekevation. The furtheresr I have reached is Mt beacon in Southern NY (about 100 miles away). I have also have reached several repeaters in CT (about 80-100 miles away. Also as far east as Worcester, MA (90 miles away). I use 9913 cable, tough cable due to hard to bend. 9913 has less than 1 db of loss at 100 ft, I'm running 75 feet..Good luck!! 73's Dave N1yfg

  • Im planning on getting back into ham after a 2 year hiatus. Thinking of getting a 2 meter beam myself.

Does this one work well for you? How far have you talked on it without skipping? Also have you been able to talk DX with it?

    Thanks

    Larry
