I grew up with he sounds of EDMUNDO ROSS who I believe is still around? I can identify with this superb sound world of Latin American music. Cugat is the best. Was he Spanish originally?
I first encountered this song in Terry Gilliam's dark art film, "Brazil," starring Jonathon Price and Robert de Niro. The songs plays throughout the film. I was enchanted and have listened to it for its own sake ever since, but I also do highly recommend the movie.
Guess it was here Pomus/Shuman got inspiration for Els "Viva Las Vegas" as the basic riff bares a strong resemblance to "Brasil". Nothing is really new under the sun. ;O)
