  • Lindíssimo!

  • I couldn't tell that was johnny contardo!

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • I really want to see him perform this year!

  • Too much echo - sounds like they are singing in a chamber - too bad. I heard Jim doa X-Mas classic usually dedicated to Tenors with a high C in them. Jim hit all of the notes.

  • @ssrprosthetic actually in person the echo wasn't there, burt for some reason when I recorded it, because i was near the speakers, that happened.

  • @cocoa12 This needs subtitles, I can't understand a word he's saying.

  • @ZoneFighter1 That was because the arena would only allow the recording to be done in front of the speakers, so it echoed. Basically Bowzer just says he worked with Johnny in Sha Na Na and that while they were in the band together he always knew that he could depend on Johnny to always be perfect every time, vocally and professionally.

  • @ssrprosthetic Yes - About 30 years ago Bowzer performed O Holy Night at Rockefeller Center - he nailed it and yes Bowzer is a Bass.

  • Bowser!! i love the guy and johnny still has the magic voice box:)

  • Bowser!! i love the guy.

  • johnny is amazing still, and i LOVE bowzer's bass tones, soooo good :D i heard about sha na na through my mother, and our mutual love of the movie Grease :D

  • I want audio cd's or mp3s to be available of all Bowzer and Johnny's original show performances!! Listening to this now and watching the old show clips...still just as perfect to the ears...(and IMHO....even easier on the eyes NOW LOL). Wish they would perform somewhere in Vermont or around Albany or Saratoga NY so I could see them live!! HINT HINT

  • well...just about closed my mouth and wiped up the drool!!!Johnny is probably the sexiest man alive(sorry hubby) i can and do watch these u tube clips over and over again and at 45 im too old for a crush, but man thats sure what it feels like, i would sell my soul to see him live, but being in the uk i just dont forsee that happening, still i have my dreams xxx

  • It's great to see these guys together. They may be older and heavier, but the stage presence and talent are definitely there. Thanks for uploading this video.

  • Did anyone ever see the Sha Na Na Show with Billy Crystal as the guest where everyone marvelled at how much Johnny and Billy resembled each other and may have been separated at birth? Great show! Wish it was on youtube. Joe

  • This tends to be a bit tinny. The echo is bad. Albeit you can still hear the great voices of Johnny and Bowser.Fantastic. They still sound great.

  • Still sounds GREAT, WOW!

  • Still awesome!!

  • Wow- Amazing how much Johnny has changed! But..haven't we all? I am the same age as him (59)!!! Johnny grew up a few miles from me. His high school and mine were fierce football rivals-and still play every Thanksgiving Day! His voice is still spectacular!!

  • Hey, just seeing this vid for the first time! I play bass with Bowzer and wrote the charts for Johnny's portion of the show. You can see me briefly at 2:35 and I don't think I appear again...dammit! That was a great show, and Johnny is a super class act and as nice a guy as you'd think he is. Unfortunately, this is the only time he and Bowzer have sung together since Sha Na Na. I keep hoping, though. Lots of fun.

As for wanting a Sha Na Na reunion, come on now! I need my gig!

  • @JMillerbigass

I'm glad you finally saw it-I'm Linda, I work with Johnny and took this video. Are you with Rocky and the Rollers? I forwarded your message right to Johnny!

    Thanks!

  • @cocoa12

Yep, that's the band. First name's Jimmy and the last name isn't really Bigass ;) That's kind of an inside joke with me and Anthony from the Stingrays. With the 10 or 11 acts on those Mohegan shows, they're pretty much constant work for me all day with little or no downtime so I apologize if I didn't get to chat with you. Not that I'm complaining...they're always a lot of fun and you get to work with talented folks like Johnny.

  • @JMillerbigass can you contact me at lhamilton12@comcast.net Johnny is interested to see if you could help him out with something! Thanks! Linda

  • I wish they would get back together again !

  • Wow, Johnny still sounds great!

  • How Awesome is This?!?!?! Wow!!!

  • Johnny still sounds fabulous. Looks great too. Bowser still has all the moves and looks wonderful. Wish there wasn't so much echo to this video, I would have loved to hear it with better acoustics. I love the duet because they did it on the show and Magice Changes is a really difficult song to sing but it's Johnny's song and he did it beautifully. He can sing Run Away to me anytime. Wonderful to hear them sing together after all these years. Kudos Johnny and Bowser.

  • Great memories provided by Bowzer and Johnny! Nice posting.

  • It would be so awesome if these two were still with Sha Na Na!!

  • Can anyone translate what Bowser is saying? I cannot understand him. Darn it.

  • outstanding wow

  • Wow!!! I remember watching shows when I was really little. Not sure if they were original or not but the only one that stuck out was Bauman. He has an amazing voice, now to see these clips 30 yrs later( give or take) I can't believe I never remembered Johnny Contardo!! At least I've always been an unaware fan since Grease is one of my all time favorites!!! Thanks so much for posting!!

  • REALLY SUCKS TO GET OLD

  • Was Johnny ever married or have a family?

  • Yes, Johnny is currently in a very long term relationship and was also married previously for many years. He has no children.

  • I haven't able to watch videos for a few days... stupid migraine!! LOL. I sure am glad this is the first one I watched... I LOVE this video. Johnny is amazing, and when he does the "whew" thing after Magic Changes.. LOL. I guess "whew"! Just incredible. And Bowzer.. MAN what a voice!!! Linda, is that you "woo-ing" in the background at the end?

  • Thank you for these videos. JC is my all time favorite singer. He blows everyone else away vocally. He still looks good 35 years later

  • I think I'll always have a crush on Johnny. How can you not?

  • I'm with you wendy...how could you not ?

  • Johnny STILL sounds fabulous and he STILL has that adorable "little cute chipmunk" smile... dreamy~~~~

  • I think Bowzer said that because when anyone talks about Sha na Na they mention Bowzer. He is the most popular and visable of all of them and probably most assumed he was the leader. He is actually saying they were all one voice. A great group would like to see the remaining 7 that are alive return for one more tour

  • Actually Bowzer praised JC-. He said he was the youngest to ever be in the group in 1971...Bowzer booked Johnny through me and I was right there, I filmed this clip-he never slammed him, it's just hard ot decipher the sound because of the echo. Thanks for going t9 JC's defense though, if he had said that, that would be bad. But he didn't,,,,he said there was no leader, but 10 of them. He raved about Johnny. Bowzer gave Johnny a great, heartfelt intro. Hmmm time to get them back together again

  • LMAO!! No "first born" here, but I'll gladly pack my hubby and cats' bags to see JC!! Important newsflash - I finally got a new 'puter and am back in action. I'll have to catch up to you and Skippy!

  • HOORAY!!! Missed you!!! Good to see you back!!!

  • HAHA look at that Tuppy, we've got thumbs down!! LOL LOL LOL

  • Must've been the brat that I told off a few weeks ago, he didn't appreciate our man!!

  • I love Johnny Contardo! He still has it, even after all of these years.

  • Oh so true!

  • I agree! He has nice hands, so expressive!

  • Good God! How did Bowzer get so fat!?

  • he's over 40, it happens

  • woooooooooow great

  • Bowser rocks. I hung out with him after this show explored Norwich State Hospital. We got popped and when the guard found out who he was he let us go but only after demanding an autograph. The guard though bowser was at the woodstock performance with sha na na lol

  • OMG he still has got it!

    GO JOHNNY!

  • Fantastic....great memories!

  • i wuznt there i wuz at a different show with bowzer there at mohegan sun

  • Johnny never fails to amaze me!

  • What talent they both (still!) have. Johnny and Bowzer should do more events together!

  • Honestly, if Bowzer had gotten any skinnier he would've just disappeared! He's probably a normal weight now for someone who's 6 ft 3. All the guys - to me - still look great, sound great, and still have the moves. I certainly wouldn't turn down a date with any of them!! Bowzer and Johnny, though, were always my faves. I love any and all SNN related clips - please keep posting!

  • You said it!

    I agree!!!!!

  • Sha Na Na forever!

  • oh wow bowzer never changes but oh boy 32 years has sure changed johnny! sure loved the guys though

  • Okay, not to be mean, but to be fair to Johnny, Bowzer has put on lots of weight, too. He was super-thin, back in the day. We've all changed in that many years, so again, not putting Jon down at all.

  • Oh I agree, lori! At his concerts he jokes about "Rock...then grabs at his stomach "....and ROLL!" So yeah..he was skinny back then but he HAS gotten a bit of a paunch there. So he's not offended.

  • LOL, it's cool that he has a sense of humor about it. Johnny does, too. One of his favorite sayings is "30 years and 30 lbs. later". I was more or less letting Jon's fans know I wasn't trying to slam him, probably because I get a bit irked at people who expect them to look the same after all those years. A few might, but that's certainly not the norm. They're only human.

  • Gosh it has been 30 years hasn't it. Where did all that time go. Wait ,mine went around my waist too! They are still as talented as ever though.

  • Omg,i can still see Johnny in those gold metalic pants oh baby baby.GREASE FOR PEACE,thank you for the video,he still sounds so sweet.

  • Obviously the best singer of the group, ever! What a voice, glad he is still performing. Bowzer was looking good on the keyboard, with all his talent that often was under used.

  • wow, talk about a voice from the past, only true SNN fans will know.

  • Still as talented and sexy as ever!

  • Johnny Contardo rocks. He just needs an image consultant. Lose the gray. trim down-he could get on idol

  • Contardo would expose Idol for the charade that it is....

  • They should of had the cameras linked to the sound boards.

  • Eric, I did the recording. The venue would not allow it. Bowzer has copies of his shows hooked to the soundboard...yes, it would have been better, but this was what we had...take care

    Linda

  • I adore Johnny as much as the next gal. If that voice hadn't come out of him, I would never have guessed that was him. I'm crazy about Davy Jones too, but I saw him age through the years. Maybe it's because I hadn't seen Johnny since the Sha Na Na days. I'm very glad the voice is still intact. I'd still be happy to meet him someday.

  • Close my eyes and I see those young guys singing those great tunes of the past. Yes, now older but they still have it. Johnny sings Runaway as well as the late Del Shannon who was also a great singer.

  • 30 years and 30 pounds ago, hahaha...still excellent performers. Bowzer and Johnny were definitely two of the standouts of Sha Na Na. Johnny can still sing it!

  • It is so good to see you guys,it has been so long.Remember Austin MN.

  • the only ones that can make the sleeves role back up and the doo wop sound grace our ears again is the fans so write the record labels and tell them like it is .

  • how old he appears! i saw a young man and now i see almost another one! his voice keeps intact... i remember grease. is there a grese fun club?

  • xKraziKarix I remember the him in sha na na he was a skinny runt

  • he still has a great voice...great range and controll...well done johnny..

  • Johnny always had a great voice and it's obvious he still has.

  • Ahhhh......I LOVED it!The 2 of them did a wonderful job!

  • It's so great to see Johnny Contardo & Bowser on stage together again. They were Sha Na Na. Johnny, without a doubt knows how to sing. Hopefully, the public will get the chance to hear this talented man, and see what they've been been missing after all these years. I'd like to hear a longer version of "Those Magic Changes." Johnny, good luck, and good health.

  • le' magnificque!

    mercy

  • Touching indeed ... Happy days are here again ... Greasers Never Say Goodbye ;)

    Emiliano M. A. (Spain)

  • Ooops! The above post was by me. I didn't realize my son's girlfriend had been logged onto the site on this computer when I posted that. Sorry, K!

  • It's nice to see Johnny and Bowzer perform together again after all this time.

I was absolutely thrilled to meet Johnny in Cleveland Sunday night. It was great to see him perform again, and his voice was just beautiful, as always. He was very kind to me, and was quite funny, as well. Of course, I suppose that's practically a given for someone who spent all those years in Sha Na Na. :) I can't wait to do it again!
