Linda Ronstadt is BAR NONE the finest interpreter of songs EVER in the history of recording artists using that unmistakably awesome voice of hers and applying it to ANY GENRE of music....she has a knack for taking someone else's song, adding her own flavor and spicing it up to produce a hit record, be it rock, country, easy listening, mariachi, contemporary classics, or pop - SHE'S THE BOMB! Notice the striking resemblance of her (early photos) with another rising pop sensation - Selena Gomez.
Commanding performance.. as stated below there is no genre or mix she can do Here a sophisticated Western Swing as good as any All American Standard ! Linda delivers!
Very Nice Video unfortunately the counter on the screen distracts the video. But Thank very much you for letting us to watch Linda Ronstadt with this song.
I hear good covers of 70s-80s artists now by current divas like Mariah Carey & such, and they're good; but there's something about this 70s thing; music was richer then, such passion, less glitz, more meaning. Just my opinion, but now I regularly play full-on gigs with a singer and as a solo acoustic guitarist, and I owe so much of it to these influences.
Not many can sing this song as naturally beautiful as Linda...Wish it weren't that way,but Willie writes em' like that, and Linda does it as much justice as possible...THANK YOU!!!
@TheShowboss Absolutely. I grew up in the 70s and watching all these Linda Ronstadt videos realize how fortunate I am to say that. Incredible stuff to grow up on!!!
Wow. I thought Patsy Cline had defined this song forever and ever, but Linda Ronstadt has shown that there are still more ways to interpret it and to interpret it beautifully.
man oh man, did i ever have a crush on this woman back in the day. And I always though Patsy Cline's version was definitive unil I heard Linda's studio version. Anyone know if Eva Cassidy ever recorded this?
Bassbone...you werent alone with your crush on Linda...I Had a HUGE Crush on Her to!!!!!! I still have that crush on Linda to this day !!!! You ..me and millions of others !!!!!! She was so HOT in her prime !!!!

@deeway1963 I've been wondering about that exact thing lately. I think that more than a little prejudice is at work here.

@Curious142 I know right! One of the greatest voices-ever...in my opinion anyway and continually snubbed! What a rip!

Ronstadt really nails this song. She gets the tempo and feeling just right.
A worthy equal to Patsy Cline's rendition.
Some say that for performers to "express themselves" they must murder a song.
Not true. A great performer expresses herself through the song, both technically and artistically. She doesn't self-indulgently destroy the song.
That's why Rondstadt is such a great performer.

Funny but after the album, I thought Patsy Cline's version was better.
But not after this YouTube post.
