It looks more like the kid didn't understand which event he (wolf) was referring to, the original event, or minutes before the (cnn) broadcast when producers of the (cnn) show had asked Falcon to RE-enact getting into the attic "for the show". That segment is shown on the left side of the split-screen next the families interview. Taking a filmed interview statement from a six year old that may or may not have been fully understood, and then adding spin to it, isn't enough to prove a fraud case.
I say let the balloon boy go, make him a bird so he can fly far, far from Ft Collins Co. It's over, what's done is done, there is already reasonable doubt so this will be very difficult to prove, as of right now the prosecutor has to prove that the family didnt believe that he was really in the balloon..Proving thoughts is a difficult task!! Haha, too funny that his "reality show" dreams came crushing down thanks to his own 6-year-old child. In that interview clip, you can practically hear the father's dreams burst when his son says his now famous response. You can even hear him gulp before Falcon finishes, knowing it won't end well.

Also a 1ft diameter party balloon filled with helium has a 14g lift capacity. Assuming you weigh 120kg (120,000g) it would only take 120,000 / 14 = 8,571 balloons to lift you. Math is pretty easy. Try it sometime.
