What was the guy who was taping this thinking when he cut away from Agnetha and Frida's routine to show some kid in the audience @8:25. Thats 5 seconds wasted that we'll never get back, however the girl in the audience can always claim she was in Abba's video
classiest go-go dancers ever. The shimmy-shake @8:05, Agnetha's swim move at 8:57 and Frida's prancing near the end. No one will ever duplicate the sexiness of that performance again. These girls should have formed a duet on their own, hired some good songwriters and musicians and dumped the two mopes they were with. Without their voices there would be no ABBA. This clip is a nostalgic gem. Priceless

All the songs, as anyone who has listened to their music, are lip-synched, of course...but, who cares? This video ROCKS!!! When you see Agnetha and Anni-Frid in those short versions of the 'cat outfits', they make the entire stage tremble with excitement! FANTASTIC MINI-CONCERT! IT proves that even today, ABBA is a magnetic crowd-pleaser!
Back then people used to write, perform, and sing their own songs. These days, they are considered talented if the know how to press the on/off button on a box.
Just to put the record staright. Norway was invaded by the Germans in April 1940, thus not making them allies. Furthermore, Norwegians do not speak German as one comment suggested. Bjørn speaks Swedish to the Norwegian crowd. As the two languages are so closely related, all Norwegians understand Swedish. In short, he thanks the Norwegian fans for the support they have shown the band. Then he introduces Waterloo as a song no one could have missed hearing.
The way I heard it, Germany took over Norway early on in the war to prevent Britain from grabbing it and effectively bottle up German ships in the Baltic Sea and cut off Germany's passage to the North Atlantic. I don't think the Norweigans were lovin' it either !

I assume it was Swedish, because ABBA is from Sweden, but the video info says that this concert was performed in Norway, so perhaps he was speaking Norwegian? Or should I refer to Norwegian as Norsk? Sorry about my ignorance on these northern Germanic languages. I am German and therefore obviously speak German, but I don't know the languages from up north very well.
I always thought it was weird how the girls in ABBA would be singing songs that were very obviously about their relationships with the guys, but how the guys wrote them. I'm referring to "S.O.S." here. I just think it's strange how the guys would write songs about their relationships with the girls and then have the girls sing them on stage, as if it was coming from their point of view. But of course, the girls always sung in ABBA.
Oh well, their personal lives aren't my business, anyways.
Such a great group of awesome singers and musicians. These 4 stand out as one of the top groups of ALL time. And to say the truth...they are all my favorite. As a kid, I listened to them on 8-track...now I listen to them on computer and will continue with whatever the latest invention might be. There are so many good songs that I have to say...no particular 1 is my best...they ALL are. Thank you Abba and for everyone who has posted a song of them. They are all very special.

Was Bjorn speaking Swedish or Norwegian there before "Waterloo"? I assume it was Swedish, because ABBA is from Sweden, but the video info says that this concert was performed in Norway, so perhaps he was speaking Norwegian? Or should I refer to Norwegian as Norsk? Sorry about my ignorance on these northern Germanic languages. I am German and therefore obviously speak German, but I don't know the languages from up north very well.

I always thought it was weird how the girls in ABBA would be singing songs that were very obviously about their relationships with the guys, but how the guys wrote them. I'm referring to "S.O.S." here. I just think it's strange how the guys would write songs about their relationships with the girls and then have the girls sing them on stage, as if it was coming from their point of view. But of course, the girls always sung in ABBA.
Oh well, their personal lives aren't my business, anyways.

Such a great group of awesome singers and musicians. These 4 stand out as one of the top groups of ALL time. And to say the truth...they are all my favorite. As a kid, I listened to them on 8-track...now I listen to them on computer and will continue with whatever the latest invention might be. There are so many good songs that I have to say...no particular 1 is my best...they ALL are. Thank you Abba and for everyone who has posted a song of them. They are all very special.
