blah blah.... your brother was obviously doing NO GOOD at the age of 19 and into sheeet like wutang..... how dare you you have the audacity to bring a good girl like Tori into you a comparison... shame on you.... you must be GHETTO!..
I think florescent orange hair automatically makes you musically talented.. Hayley Williams (Paramore), Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine), and now Tori Amos. I came across her music like a month back. It was in the suggestions from a Bjork video!
Tori's Beautiful, If She Wants To Get a Bit Of Work Done On Herself Then Good on Her.. If I Had The Money I'd Do The Same, If It Makes People Feel Better About Themselves Then I Don't See The Problem
She's still beautiful. You people are way too critical and superficial. There's nothing wrong with getting stuff done to make you look a bit younger. If she didn't get anything done you'd all be bitching how she's so old looking. Fucking superficial assholes.
Damn... why o why is she all barbie-like? And honestly... the more vids I see, the more I start thinking her 'emotions' in the songs are performed in overkill (voice-use). Makes it all more fake. Still... have the album version and yes: the song is great, almost terrifying, reminds me of personal stuff... so, thanks for that perfect performance on the album :) Makes me shiver to the bones, everytime!
this song is always awesome. i think this song grows with her...so negative comments about how bad "this version" ....really? how is this not great?....furthermore....AMAZING playing on her part.
I absolutely love this song! But I saw her live in Sydney last year, and I have to admit, it was a big disappointment. When you see earlier vids of her performing this song she seems so innocent and humble, which just adds to her beauty and to that of the song, but when I saw her live she seemed like a total diva, which was really unattractive, completely soured the experience, and put me off her music a bit. But that being said, she plays the piano AMAZING, and I think that deserves credit.
@FelicTheNiss You just have to remember that was a totally different time in her life. She was in her early 20's when she wrote this song. She is 48 now. A grown, successful woman. She is just enjoying life now. That is all I can see that may be "diva-ish." Check out Winter from Olympia 2010 though. You may see that 'old' spark you are talking about there. Let me know what you think of it :) its an awesome performance!
What happened to your passion with this song? If you look back on your live performance when you were much younger you were so different!! So, passionate about the song. i don't see that at all in this performance. Its like you are a zombie not even the same person as in 92. Way to much make up doesn't even look like the same person. Very weird ending too!! strange.....

@gayleynn314 I agree with you...I LOVE this song...but I´m confused, because I really don´t feel any emotions in this performance,as you told...and it is a pitty, because those emotions were the BEST and IT in this song...
@gayleynn314 Tori is definitely NOT the same person she was when Little Earthquakes was released, I don't know what you're expecting. She was 28 then, and she is 47 now. Appreciate her evolution as a PERSON, and as an artist. An artist ALWAYS changes to reflect their personal milieu. Her passion IS still there, though it is transmitted differently; you need to be open to receive it in a different light. She is still beautiful and passionate. Don't be so harsh.

@styx3956 shes singing that way on purpose i saw a video of her sining live in australia in 2007,,she sound way better than she does her..singing live in a small room like that on the vidoe u really cant expect her to sing loud and strong like she would singing in a concert arena..it would kinda wierd singing loud when shes already has a captive audience
@angeloscity oh, I'v heard her done better too in the past year or so. But comparatively, if you take a listen to the way she sang before the Beekeeper era, you can't deny that her voice has changed. Take for example her performance of Precious Things in Glanstonbury or Pink Pop, and compare to the one at T in the Park in 2007 and you'll notice there's a difference. And it's ok. The voice ages along with the rest of the body. It's natural for it to change. She's still awesome.
@angeloscity and it's not just her singing loud. You don't captivate an audience by just being loud. She has a hard time sustaining notes and a vibrato on some days. Other days, she does perfectly fine. Then again, it could be the acoustics of the place.
@styx3956 well of course her voice has changed ..its like nite and day from when she came out in like 92 weith ''crucify myself'' and ''winter'' and ''china''..those are my fav songs from her....i like ''bouncing off clouds '' also from one of more recent cds...but yeah..her voice has changed and maybe shes preserving her vocal cords by not stressing them out by prolonging notes and chorus lines . know wat i mean!....its been like 20 years since she began im sure she like at least 10 more,
The aesthetic of this performance appeals to the five senses. Tori looks fabulous in that earth tone outfit alongside the gorgeous piano. Unfortunately, the vocals aren't her best attempt, but everyone has an off day - are we not human?
It's a beautiful song, and it will be forever, but I think she's distorting her voice a little.. [I don't know if I say it right, English isn't my own language].
The most amazing thing about Tori and her live performances is how she truly puts all of her emotions into what she's singing. She'll sing a song at one performance and the tone will be light and playful. Then she'll sing the same song at another performance and the tone will be heartbreaking and gut wrenching...Precious Things is a PERFECT example of this. Anyway, you always know that what you're getting from her is real...it's not some set act she has decided on. No one else does that.
There are always at least more than 1 songs in all her albums (except the latest 'Midwinter Graces' which is meant to be beautiful not heart-broken) that will make you sob. In 'Little Earthquake', Winter is sure one of them, others heart-aching songs there include Silent All These Years, Tears in Your Hand, Little Earthquake,... she has so much sorrow in this album.
I'm all for artistic interp'tation, but I do wish she wouldn't do her old songs so rubato. with all the dramatic pauses and stuff.... even though there is no percussion in this song there IS an implied rhythm...
I don't mind it so much on 'me and a gun' since it's acapella and it's such a personal dramatic song to begin with, but we are in complete agreement with th LE stuff.... I don't know if she's bored with them and just trying to keep her own interest up but for a long time fan it is a bit of a let down.
Thank You Tori ~ sure can touch my heart strings.. will be listening tomorrow (wearing sunglasses in case you pull more "feel good" tears out of me) though most of the time just a goofy smile lovin this life.
I really like all her work. Her songs are interesting and varied. This is a great, mature performance of this excellent piece: nice pace, thoughtful breaks and good use of dynamics in the vocal and piano work.
Winter will always remind me of my brother who passed away at the age of 19. He was into Tupac & Wu Tang when I was into Tori & Smashing Pumpkins. My brother never liked anything I played but he loved this song. I love you Tori and I love you Anthony. Miss you kid.

This is the Tori era I loved the most. 1990's. She is very strange but I guess that is her charm. She can really play and is SO original.

@eqsmooth That was also the era she didn't wear panties and spread her legs wide while playing the piano. I like that Tori, too.
