für den Preis ein ansprechendes Modell mit moderner Technik. Ich b in bis jetzt(6Wochen)noch voll zufrieden. Lediglich die Vorinstallationen haben mich wenig begeistert. Vor allem der Officepack ist teuer.

  • Which Dell netbook handles GNU/Linux and Programming the best? Any answers from anyone would be a great help to me.

  • Does it use Battery?, because i have one of these lap tops and it doen´t charge the battery not even a little. T_T

  • HI Jason, I know it's almost 2 years from this video, so I hope you get this. I'm almost to buy this laptop, but I'm really worried about doing a bad investment because it's a second hand one even though the owner told that he hasn't used it to much. In short, I'd really appreciate if you could tell me If you have experienced some problems with this laptop, I mean overheating, battery life, maybe performance with music, videos and softwares like Autocad, CorelDraw, etc. P.S Thx in advance

  • @LuisinhoE10 My V13 is still going strong, and I've upgraded both the RAM and the HD (put in an SSD). No issues at all. I wouldn't run Autocad on it though - it has a slow CPU.

    - Jason

  • Don't buy acer they suck

  • @RichiiJm2011 but people say they suck and i tryed them

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, just wanted to point out that the hard drive is on the other side :). The hard drive is connected to the audio board so it's on the side with the audio ports.

  • Well I took a quick look over at Dell's site and it appears that he V13 is no longer offered. Vostro V130 is what's there now. Glad I ordered it when I did!

  • Finally bought a V13 a few weeks back when the price went to $350. Pretty sweet little rig. Not a "heavy lifter" by any stretch but sure beats a regular ol' netbook. Glad to have more screen real estate from an 10" n.b. and a full sized keyboard. Handles all manner of video just fine. The slim & light design makes this a treat to haul around. Battery life is just barely acceptable though. Probably will have to replace in a year after so many charges. Pretty productive lil' bugger!

  • WARNING TO EVERYONE, DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP, OR ANY DELL LAPTOP AT THIS TIME IF YOU VALUE YOUR SOUND! All dell laptops are known to to have DPC latency issues, If you don't know what that is it is a processing issue which causes the audio to constantly lock up and makes your sound practically un-usealble. If you want proof simply google search dell DPC latency problems, the threads on these problems are literally 100's of pages long. It IS a major issue and I would suggest looking elsware.

  • @fordyrox You really didn't need to spam all of my Dell videos. I can understand why you're upset, but this isn't isn't of paramount importance to *everyone*. I don't have any of the problems described in these threads, and I use my V13 for watching videos, listening to music, etc. I do hope Dell finds a way to fix the problem for you and the others though - it sounds frustrating!

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Ok sorry mate, I didnt mean to spam but it is an issue and I thought that people needed to know, If I knew I proably would have got a different brand. The problem is pretty common and dell is supposed to test for it but they obviously dont, that makes me angry that they dont tell people about this just so they can make some money.

  • @fordyrox Are doing audio production or some sort of pro-level audio work on your Dell laptop? Or is it just that the popping you're hearing is really annoying?

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia No, Im just trying to listen to music. It is proper distortion to the point that you wouldn't know its music. I dont get popping, It just screws up the sound completley.

  • @fordyrox Well that's very strange - wouldn't it impact all V13's then? Or is it some particular hardware configuration?

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Its all dells, its the software they install on them as standard that has problems and sometimes even the layout of the drivers that causes frequency interference and dell refuses to fix this.

  • @ThoughtsMedia its ok then

  • @fordyrox I GOT 1 NOTHIN HAPPEN

  • @RichiiJm2011 Its not on all of them, just about half of them. Take your trolling elsware please. By all I mean all models not every laptop they produce.

  • @fordyrox RETARD THATS THE DELL VOSTRO 1220 SHUT UP AND STOP SPAMING!

  • @DronaStorm Actually all dell laptops are known to have these issues, if you did your reaserch you would know that. In some models the problem is more common than others.

  • @fordyrox no net all my Dell laptop has never done that to me before

  • @fordyrox Elsewhere not elsware...

  • @JubJubkiller09 DILLIGAF

  • @fordyrox

I've got a Dell XPS17 totally customized to be around 2200 bucks and it's perfectly fine. NEVER had sound issues, NEVER freezes up, NEVER had a problem. Just cuz you got a shitty laptop and probably dropped it doesn't mean they all suck.

  • Excellent video and commentary. I just bought it off the dell outlet for $350, not a bad price for a traveling/train laptop for emails and light web surfing.

  • people should go with acer 1830, they have many versions for many prices, ultra small with power and great battery. go with cheapest ram cause for 80 bucks you can go to 8gb. i love mine :)

  • awesome review! just purchased mine. its on sale for $349.99!!

  • @mrgoomanchu its still available onto the market or discontinued did u got any problem, like speed or sound or over heat pls reply me i m going to buy this one n thx for reading.

  • will a better processor reduce the battery life? and what's the battery life on the v130? I heard it's somewhere around 2 hours.

  • @instantdry1 It depends on the power usage of the CPU (wattage). Check Intel's Web site for the wattage specs for each CPU...

    - Jason

  • i just bought one of these bad boys for $388 shipped with tax. Core 2 Duo, 2GB ram, 320gb hdd. Do you think this was a good investment ? or should i have looked for something better ?

  • @jehuty911

I just bought one too for around the same price. Considering the configurations that were available just over a year ago for this model, I'd say ya you (we) got a good deal. I bought the V13 to replace a 2yr old Asus netbook. I'm just praying that the supposed anemic battery life is tolerable. 1st order of business for this machine when I get it is to throw in 4 gigs of RAM!

  • @saintapathy yea i think it was a good deal for sure. And the battery life is not that bad, just bring your charger when your on the go. And let me know where and for how much you get your 4GB RAM, I'm extremely interested in doing the same to mine !!

  • @jehuty911 Yikes! New dillema; HP dmz1 just got bumped down in price just after I ordered the V13. with all coupons taxes, CA tree hugging fees, etc... out the door price comes to $442.99. That with the beefier AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350 1.6GHz & 3 gigs of RAM and much longer battery life. Still a bit chunky like a netbook. SUPER GLOSSY screen (blech!) & smaller screen. Dell total=$399.90 with a case I also bought. Well if I aint in love with the V13 I'll have to decide asap!

  • @jehuty911 Excuse me HP dm1z not dmz1. Am I having Nam flashbacks??

  • is this laptop great for gaming? like half life 2 launcher games? for steam

  • too much chit chat at the beginning.

  • Dell should work more on their design tbh.

  • I am currently looking for a new laptop. I am a student as well as a musician. I think for the price, this laptop may be for me.

    Thanks for the review!

  • Does this have a CD ROM? And how much is the price? My dads budget is something bellow $500.

  • Your method of reviewing answers exactly what I want to know when I'm buying laptops. Very impressive.

I'm thinking of getting the V13 since Dell dropped the price to US$400 for the C2D and has a 6 cell battery in there (you mentioned yours had a 3 cell). Would this provide up to 7 hours of battery for MS office then?

I really don't care how much I have to spend on an ultrathin laptop, but I want good battery and good VALUE (appropriate performance for money, etc)... do you have any thoughts?

  • @J01101001T I was wrong; mine has a 6 cell battery. It's a 30 WHr battery though, which doesn't amount to much. You're looking at three hours or so of battery life, maybe four if you push it. This is unfortunately not a great laptop in terms of battery life.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia I caved and went for a Macbook Air.. I need long battery life, good looks and the ability to use MS Office. A small order that the Vostro very nearly met.

  • Latitude 13 vs Dell's Vostro V13

    What's the difference?

Also if you had the choice which one would you pick? Thanks

  • @yangb90 The Lattitude 13 looks like the Vostro V13 with worse CPU options. I wouldn't go for either - I'd go for the Vostro V130 in cherry red with the Core i5 CPU and 4 GB of RAM.

    - Jason

  • wha do u mean by business laptop can it also be used for students like me??

  • @FFvs13noctis The Vostro line of laptops and desktops is aimed at small business use; but of course it can work for students and anyone else.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia ok thx alot

  • Swear I just watched your hands dancing around to what you were saying at the beginning, bahahahaha. Epic

  • Hi Jason, thanks for the excellent review. I was wondering if you knew anything about the HP Pavilion dm3-3012nr since it compares similarly to the V13, and which one you would purchase if both were the same price. Thanks!

  • @paniel87 I reviewed an early version of the dm3z - check my channel.

    - Jason

  • soooooo

how is the v13 doing now?

  • @spiritandsword Pretty good. I still use it as my daily laptop; I only curse at its slowness every now and then. ;-) It's nice with an SSD, that's for sure, though I'm not convinced the Imation SSD I'm using is very good. I'm going to try a Kingston V+ SSD.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia It's been almost a year, looks like its durability is ok

  • @spiritandsword Oh yeah, it's say it's quite durable - though I don't punish my laptop, so I wouldn't know. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia So I decided to buy it :p

It's beyond my expectation, hope it lasts long...

  • how would this cpu compare to a C2D 1.6ghz cpu?

  • @MattAndi Well, this is a Core 2 Duo 1.3 Ghz, so your chip would be 300 Mhz faster. :-) The performance would be similar.

    - Jason

  • Thank you on the review. You Are my hero

  • @ooSMASHvs That's a really nice compliment - thank you.

    - Jason

  • The cpu is pretty weak, have you tired turning off Windows Aero and Trans. to speed it up.

  • very good review, thank you!!

  • very nice and useful review, great job

  • Asus ul30 is better IMO

  • I dont believe de SSD drive, index was 5,9, that is a 7200 RPM HD index. (Or the SSD is quite lousy)

  • @rclawitw So you're accusing me of lying? That's pretty lame. The SSD is in there, but it doesn't rate very high using the Windows Experience Index. Imation's tech people told me it was related to how WEI tests; their drive simply doesn't rate very well using the metrics that Microsoft uses. It's definitely not the fastest SSD on the market, that's for sure...

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Sorry if you got offended, that was not my intention. But I do think that the HD performance should be higher. I do not believe there's somethig wrong with WEI tests. I bet that with an Intel X25 the index should be way higher. Or the Imation SSD is slow. Another thing that I forgot is to complement you for this awesome review, because I'm planning on buying this laptop. Best Regards.

  • optical drive?

  • @shirtlesszigfee No, it has no optical drive.

    - Jason

  • I can't tell how silent it is... All I can hear is your voice and my 7200rpm hard drive

  • @BadBoy8020 It's really, really quiet. In fact, it's the quietest laptop I've ever owned - and when I replaced the hard drive with the SSD, it became silent.

    - Jason

  • hi HELP PLEASE HELP ME !!!:( I HAVE VOSTRO 1400 RIGHT AFTER IT'S WARRANTY FINISHED my LCD the monitor of it has a red line which was at first blue it's tiny and it's not becoming more but i hate it !( at first sometimes it was fixed by it's self and again with the problem now it has the problem and it has never fix it's self please WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO ?????:(:(:(:(

  • nice review :) the only thing i'm still interested is if Civilization V runs on it. it's ok if all details are set to low, it just as to be playable :) someone tried it? cheers - Marco

  • I just purchased this computer, how long did it take for Dell to ship it to you?

  • wtf you can't change the logon background? STUPID

  • @jagjagin I rather like the logon background, I don't mind that I can't change it.

  • they say this laptop is like the macbook air but for heck of a lot less money...

  • First thanks for what I think is a very accurate review.

I just got this lappy a week ago and I'm basically thrilled.

I went for the core solo cpu as I'm a bit concerned about battery life, which makes me want to ask : How does hooking up an SSD drive increases battery life ?

Does overall performance seems snappier on Windows 7 ? Have you tried Ubuntu on it ? ( I wiped oup Windows on my laptop according to my needs).

    Regards,

    I.

PS : (sorry for my french/english)

  • @isidith1 An SSD will not increase battery life; the screen, CPU, and chipset use up most of the power on the laptop, not the hard drive. I find Windows 7 to be quite snappy on this, though I do see some slowdown when I'm multi-tasking - the 1.3 Ghz CPU can only do so much. I haven't tried Ubuntu on it.

    - Jason

  • Why is your windows 7 harddrive score so low if it has a 128gb ssd?

  • @digitallysick According to Imation, the Windows Experience Index is heavily weighed toward random IO performance, which the Imation SSD isn't great at. It's not a very good measure of real-world performance though. PC Mark Vantage is a much better test. Check out the full review of the Imation SSD at Laptop Thoughts.

    - Jason

  • 3.2 on the score O: my dell D531 that is 2 years old has 3.3 lol

  • Hi there !

Let me tell you that I like your reviews very much, and I have a question if you don't mind, you installed a SSD on this laptop, does the Vostro V13 have AHCI support in the BIOS ?

    I appreciate it,

  • @romancanas I'm not sure to be honest - there's a driver download for AHCI, so it looks like it's supported. As to whether it's supported at the BIOS level, is there a way for me to check that?

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia It is different for each laptop but basically get in to the laptop's BIOS and look for "storage" or "Serial ATA". By default it is always "IDE" so take a look if you can change that to "AHCI". You can get even better performance under AHCI !!... IF you can see the option AHCI ....DON"T CHANGE IT YET, leave it on IDE, reboot the laptop and then you need to change the windows registries to enable AHCI (google it) then reboot it and then you can change the BiOS setting to AHCI

  • @romancanas The V13 has a *very* spartan BIOS - there's virtually nothing to change, and no mention of AHCI or even Serial ATA. There's one screen that ID's that I have an SSD installed, but doesn't tell me anything about it. Looking at the device manage in Windows, it says it has an Intel ICH9M 4 port AHCI controller.

    - Jason

  • which do you prefer? The Dell Vostro V13 or the HP Pavilion dm3z? I am going to college next year, and I have an Inspiron 1720 already with 820 GB hard drive (1 500GB, 1 320GB), duo core 2.4 GHz processor, and 4 GB or ram. However, it is too heavy to carry around to all of my classes. I don't like Mini Laptops because they are too small for my hands, and just uncomfortable.

  • @jonanater Definitely the V13 - I kept it and use it as my main laptop now. I wish the CPU were a bit more powerful as sometimes it gets bogged down, but overall, it's a nice laptop. I might have had a different opinion of the dm3 if I'd been able to test the Intel-based model and the trackpad didn't suck so much.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Thanks! I really like your review videos. Just fyi, I ended up getting the HP dm4t, which has an intel processor, and is 14", and was about the same price as the dm3z - I think the price difference was like $50 (dm4t had a built in CD/DVD burner included, and a fingerprint reader for that price difference). Thanks for your help, I hope I made the right decision! lol

  • Hi. I love your review.

I was wondering about what your thoughts were on the trackpad placement. For me, its a dealbreaker. I hate how its left of center, and not centered or right of center. I wouldve bought this machine by now if it wasnt for this one little thing. And ive noticed this on a bunch of other laptops i was looking to potentially buy. Thanks.

  • @batmancrammarc I'm typing this response on an HP dv2, where the trackpad is also left-of-centre. The HP Mini 1000 I'm looking at is the same. In all cases, the trackpad lines up with the spacebar, which, if you're in a "home row" neutral typing position, should be where your fingers are. I'm pretty sure if I look at my other laptops, I'll see the same thing. So I think you may be out of luck if you're looking for a laptop that doesn't have that. FWIW, it's zero bother to me.

    - Jason

  • @batmancrammarc I took another look at my V13, and I see that the touchpad is slightly off-centre from the spacebar, which is a bit different than other notebooks. For what it's worth, I don't find it irritating. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Hi. Thanks for the reply. I don't think i could live with it :( What do you think about the acer timeline AS3810TZ? This one has a trackpad placed where I like it. Is it a safe bet to go for this one for a 13incher?

  • @batmancrammarc I only have opinions about the products I've reviewed/tested, and the Acer Timeline isn't among them...so I can't offer any opinion of it.

    - Jason

  • @batmancrammarc I haven't reviewed that notebook, so I can't offer an opinion on it. Check out Laptop Magazine's Web site - I trust their reviews.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Thanks.and any idea why my posts are showing twice.

  • Hi Jason - Thanks for a great review.

I don't know much about notebooks and I will need one for school. The base model on Dell's site runs Linux and has a 6-cell battery. How does Linux differ from Windows (Windows is all I've ever used)? Also, I thought you mentioned that the laptop in your review was a 3-cell battery - would this mean the 6-cell would get longer life?

    Thanks a lot!

  • @millionairemodel I was in error - my model has a 6-cell battery. That's the only version that Dell ships right now. In terms of Linux vs. Windows, if Windows is all that you've ever used, then stick with it. I don't recommend Linux to anyone, ever, because it's not user friendly. And I presume you have Windows software applications you want to use; they won't natively work on Linux without an emulator. So stick with Windows.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia - Thanks for such a helpful response, Jason. I wonder if you can recommend a budget notebook/netbook. I'm looking for something for school. I'll be doing general things like taking notes and writing papers. I've heard good things about ASUS 1005PE and Toshiba mini NB255. Any experience with these or other recommendations? Thanks again!

  • you can change the logon screen...

  • great review! quick question, how is the webcam?

  • @waddafx1736 I'd say average. Every Webcam on a laptop I've seen is pretty crappy in my opinion, so I tend not to talk about them much. They need near-perfect lighting to be anything less than awful.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia

great review! quick question, how is the integrated webcam?

  • @waddafx1736 Um, I just answered that question...?

    - Jason

  • Thank youuuu!

I have one stupid question. ok, the speakers are mono, but if I want to hear with my headphons, then it will be stereo ? :$

  • @Heinakuhi Correct, with headphones it would be in stereo.

    - Jason

  • @HeidiThoughts Was there something about my review that made you think it couldn't use iTunes? If it runs Windows, it can use iTunes. :-)

    - Jason

  • Great review! Looking forward to your next review, thanks.

  • is it bad that it has 1.3ghz and is only running 32 bit windows 7

  • @oPsYcHoTiCo Depends on what kind of user you are. Me? I multi-task heavily and demand instant response from my computers, so I'm not that happy with the CPU performance V13...but if I ease off a bit, and am a little more patient, it's not too bad. :-) I sure do wish it came with a faster processor though!

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia do you think it would be easy to replace the CPU with something like a 2.4 ghz and then would it be good?

  • @oPsYcHoTiCo No, you can't replace the CPU in this, or virtually any other laptop.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia why not? of course you can replace the cpu, i just upgraded my hp. only the gpu is cant be replaced because its soldered.

  • @anarkhy666 Replacing a CPU in a laptop is an advanced procedure fraught with challenges; you have to pick a CPU that has the same thermal properties as the one you're replacing, because you can't replace the entire cooling system. I'm impressed that you're advanced enough to replace a CPU in a laptop, but if I tell the average YouTube commenter that they can swap out the CPU on their laptop, they'll end up destroying their laptop. Most laptops aren't designed for CPU upgrades.

    - Jason

  • I have been using a Dell Vostro 1500 and I really like the Vostro line but how does the V13 stand up against other ultra thin competitors such the MacBook Air?

  • BTW, the custom logon screen is actually a feature of the Windows 7 OS. With a little registry tweaking in Windows 7, you can just put an image in a certain system folder to make it as the logon screen background. Microsoft did this so certain companies could brand their logon screens.

  • @BlooMassacre Cool, thanks for sharing the info! Good to know.

    - Jason

  • Hey Jason. I just have one question about the graphics card. Is it comparable to an integrated Intel graphics card or is it comparable to the NVIDIA ION in some new netbooks?

    Thanks so much,

    Jacob

  • @stratkillsgibson67 It *is* an Intel graphics card - the GMA4500 has been around for a long time. :-) The Windows ratings is 3.2 for both gaming and graphics; the ION GPU tends to score 5.9 and 4.5 respectively, so that should tell you a lot. The GMA4500 isn't much of a video card in terms of 3D performance.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia accutally it is a GMA4500HD. not to big of a difference exept that is is slightly faster and has more memory.

  • @Ronnie51026 Honestly, Intel can call it whatever they want, but when I see 4500 anything related to an Intel GPU, I know it's going to be awful for 3D anything. Intel has no graphics mojo...at all.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia benchmark or play a game putting up the 4500M and 4500MHD you will see that the HD is significantly faster and allocates more memory in the benchmark, but in the games there will only be an increase of 10-20 fps.

  • Thanks Jason for the review. I've been confused in choosing between this Vostro V13 (Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD), Fujitsu LifeBook SH560 (i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD), or a Sony Vaio Z (i5, 6GB, 128 SSD). I have pretty much enough budget for any of these, its just the ultra-portability that i'm thinking about. The Vaio Z price is making me to hold my move. I fell in love with the v13, but its the battery positioning that brought me down. What do you think about those options?

    Cheers mate.

    Hans.

  • @eh2218 The biggest drawback to the V13 in my opinion after having used it for a few months is the slow CPU. The 1.3 Ghz CPU just can't keep up to me sometimes, and I find it QUITE irritating. Something with a Core i5 should do much better (assuming the clock speed is 1.6 Ghz or more). I don't quite know what you mean by the battery position of the V13 - the fact that you can't remove if you mean?

    - Jason

  • @bnichs51259 I have a Dell XPS M1330 with a 2.2 Ghz CPU.

    - Jason

  • @diegox65 Correct, it does not have a CD/DVD drive. You can get external CD/DVD drives that connect to the USB port on the back; they cost around $50 right now.

    - Jason

  • @Dan01423 If the dm3 has a fixed touchpad, I think it might be the better overall option...but go for the Intel-based version.

    - Jason

  • Are you going to review the Dell m301z? I'm think about getting it and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on it.

  • @kerc27 No, I have no plans to review that laptop.

    - Jason

  • Hey I really like your review it told me many things. Is laptop ok for school? also google chrome, itunes, youtube.? is is flimsy, any flex in the keyboard?

  • @hershv9 Sure, it would be good for school. Chrome, YouTube, etc. are fine. iTunes is bloated, slow software, so you'll have to be patient. The 1.3 Ghz Core 2 Duo CPU is OK for most things, but heavy multi-tasking will bog it down and you'll see the V13 sputter a bit. It's not flimsy, and there's no flex in the keyboard in my opinion.

    - Jason

  • Nice review Jason.

Still have a question re: Vostro V13 versus the Adamo.

The V13 is $799 in the configuration you got it in, plus you must have spend at least another couple of hundred on the SSD.

The Adamo can be had for $999 with a slightly faster processor, 128gb SSD, Windows Premium 64 bit and, I believe, a backlit keyboard.

Wouldn't the Adamo have been a better deal?

  • @tanbo In Canada, amazingly, the Adamo is still $2259...so it wasn't an option for me. But you're right, if you're in the USA, the $999 Adamo is worth considering.

    - Jason

  • the interior looks kind of old fashion, no?

  • So since you had reviewed the Adamo, and this vostro, why did you choose to go with the vostro? What made you want to keep it?

  • @chutsu The Vostro V13 was a good compromise of performance, functionality, good design, and price. The Adamo was nice, but quite expensive for what you got...and I like the way the V13 looks. I do wish the V13 had more CPU power though...sometimes it gets bogged down when I'm multi-tasking. You give up a lot to get a chassis that thin.

    - Jason

  • Excellent review. Helped alot. You covered all the important points: performance, size/weight, battery, intended use, and price. Thanks.

  • Hey i watched your video and i had two questions. What do you think the improvement on battery life would be if i intstalled an ssd like the one you recommended? Also is the sound through the audio out still stereo? Btw i did check the last couple pages of comments and didnt see any questions like this so if there is one sorry :P also your reviews are the best! You must use a nice mic unlike other reviewers on youtube! Thanks

  • @muttonchopsusa No, you won't see a battery life improvement with an SSD - current hard drives use so little power, moving to an SSD doesn't amount to much in terms of power savings. The audio through the headphone jack is stereo. I appreciate you checking the comments - I wish more people did that!

    - Jason

  • nice i hate dailymotion ñ.ñ thanks for upload on youtube

  • hi jason I'm aware that the vostro v13 is for business but I wanted to ask if seeing a movie or pictures on the computer is good or bad? classify it sound like? and graphics?. Thanks for your video

  • @yemb1 The screen is quite nice, though not amazing. The audio is fairly loud, but it's mono, not stereo.

  • Can you put a video where you show how to replace the HDD?, what can you say about chutsu's comment about the difference between the vostro v13 and latitude 13?, thanks!, nice review

  • @ramirezjg Hmm. Interesting idea - I haven't done a video like that before. It's not hard to replace the hard drive though, so don't be afraid of the process. :-) As for the Latitude 13, can't you see my answer? I answered that question...

  • make an unboxing of the dell vostro 3500 please xD

  • @cojin01 Look down on the comments page...

  • Last question, what happens when you need to replace the battery, where can I get one? Also are there third party higher capacity batteries available?

  • @chutsu I'm sure if you did a Web search, you'd find someone that offers the batteries - and if not not, soon, since it's a new product. I don't know anything about third party batteries being higher capacity; you'll have to research that for yourself.

  • nice review, but I prefer thick laptops, cuz thy represent durability and strength (in my opinion)

  • Hi, was wondering if you could tell me whats the difference between the vostro v13 and latitude 13?? Also have you considered getting an external battery for this machine?

    Thanks

    Awesome review!

  • @chutsu I didn't know about the Latitude 13 until you mentioned it, and other than a 1.4 Ghz CPU option, it looks identical in every way to the Vostro V13. So I have no idea what Dell is doing there. I have a couple of external batteries, but am not sure if they're compatible with the V13...they're kind of a hassle to carry due to the weight, so I don't use them very often.

  • @ThoughtsMedia Also at 9:21 you mentioned that the laptop has a 3 cell, don't you mean it has a 6 cell? Or has Dell changed the specs a little?

  • @chutsu That's an error on my part - it's a 6 cell battery.

  • Hey, are you going to review the new Vostros 3000 serie???

  • @roykog No, probably not. I don't generally review business laptops; the V13 was an exception.

    - Jason

  • this is a vast improvement over the original vostros. those were monsters over 1 and 1/4 inch thick

  • @KlingonSpider There are still some thick Vostro's out there, but yeah, this one is a step or two above anything that has ever bore the Vostro name before. :-)

  • good job J-Dawg

  • Hey Jason, once again awesome video! I have a quick question, are you going to get an Apple iPad, because you are one of the best tech reviewer I know on youtube, well you and a few others, and I wanted your opinion on it. You cover thing where no other tech reviewer has gone before! Not trying to suck up or anything, but if you can that would be awesome. (:

  • @MyiPodReviewer No, I probably won't get an iPad. I'm not really sure what I'd use it for, and frankly, anyone that buys a new Apple product right when it comes out is a sucker - Apple is going to drop the price and improve the product pretty quick I think. I have enough laptops that I have one within easy reach most of the time, so for me the iPad doesn't really fill a need. And since Apple doesn't loan our their hardware products, I'd have to buy one to review it. Nope. :-)

  • nice video jason. I am thinking of buying a vostro V13 these days but I have some doubts that maybe you could enlighten me as an owner: 1 - as videos or you can pass this information on the CD to the laptop if it has no port of cd / dvd drive, 2 - as the battery lasts in continuous use?

  • @yemb1 I've deleted your two other duplicate posts - when you post a comment on YouTube, you need to refresh the page to see your comment. In order to install software off a CD/DVD, you'd need to purchase an external CD/DVD drive. As for battery life, I talked about that in the video - about 3.5 hours maximum with screen brightness at 100%.

  • @skrbicdu I think everyone who makes video content for YouTube and also makes an effort to answer questions on their videos would appreciate it if you'd watch the video before posting a question - that's kind of the whole point of us posting the videos on YouTube. ;-)
