  • Question is?

Did Chaplin use extras in this scene? If so He may of had people dress in different ways. As far as the devise it may of been a trick Chaplin threw in. Maybe Chaplin had some future ideas of his own or as a joke.

a famous director and famous painters have signed there works for statements or for humor. I will say its hard to tell what this person had in their hand. Thanks Ken

  • it's an old lady with an ice pack, or she's hiding her face for some reason or something stupid. we all want to believe in time travel but come on...be realistic, why make something big out of a small ant hill? are we all that desperate? I'm sure time travel is possible, in fact a lot of the material we see in science fiction comes alive, I think science fiction is a futuristic vision. some of the writers are genius visionaries

  • This one is easy, obviously people are being nieve. Lets see, if you went to another time and were a male and had no clue how to dress then obviously you are going to stick out. They just did it half decently. .that is definately a cell phone, if you slow it down the devices screen shines. There is no doubt what has happened, someone got caught in the past. they shouldn't of been stupid. People shouldn't over think the cell phone towers either cause if you could go into the past, then thats pie

  • probably a tape recorder with her voicemail tape on it from her answering machine, ran out the door late wanted to hear her messages before it was too late.

  • Urmm there were no mobile towers (So how can you talk to someone) No vodafone,

    T-mobile,...Etc.

  • its a man i am sure but wat i dont get is why is he dressed like a women?can anyone explain this.i am more than sure its a man

  • @SilverRosepetal walky talky wasnt invented till1940s then also they were big as our half hand.though good gussing.

  • bizarre

Were talking about time travel, and people debunk it because no cell towers.

Time travel? cell phone reception is duck soup compared to time travel.

  • @MrJkeffer Im glad i didnt have to say it and glad you did, people will go after the simplest of things to debund something, although sometimes it is a simple explanation, this is kinda errie because who is he/she talkin to, she is totally out of character, and her big shadow scares me compared to the others, its not just that he/she is big so as should her shadow, but look at it its just creepy.

  • who would they be talking to?

  • WAIT, if thare was a man or a old woman backthen talking on a newly cellphone how were thare bars then or cell phone towers?

other than that i was convenced XD

  • you time travel when you go over the international dateline , you loose a day or gain one

  • Cellular, mobile, potaato, potato. If it weren't for the necessity of cellular towers to send/receive signals, I might be inclined to think on (a time traveler) as a possibily for a second, maybe two. The hearing aid explanation seems the most valid. If it weren't the most reasonable explanation, I'd be more inclined to think it's an alien than a "butch" woman on her iPhone. :-)

  • Cmon Walt Flannagan. You really buy into this?

  • .....o.o

  • so verizon's service is sooooo awesome, then,

that it can give you the ability to talk to people even when there are clearly no bars or satellite receptors?

it can bend time and space?

    damn.

  • bullshit a time traveller and thumbs up if ray sent u here

  • well if it is a mobile phone she is probably talking to customer care wondering what use is it having a mobile phone!!!!!

  • LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA "It's not an AM/FM radio... 'cause it's obviously 1928" ... but it is a cellphone. Funny asshole.

  • That's the Penguin from Batman....

  • Her hands and face are not adecuate for a woman that height!! Please do you have a facial measurment program?? You will see that it doesn´t look very..regular!

  • "It's not an AM/FM radio because it's 1928"

That made me laugh, you think the possibility of a time traveler is more realistic than them having an AM/FM radio? Seriously?

It does look like they are in fact on a phone, but they're not. Sorry to be a buzzkill buddy :/

  • giant Hershey bar

  • hearing aids Western Electric - Model 34A Carbon Hearing Aid.

  • Lmao....

  • she got bitch slap by the guy in front of her

  • It's not a cell phone, its a Fentriosole Ukarian Clepto Kinderer. Also known as a F.U.C.K. Go get a life asshole. It's not a cell phone. I can't believe you were crazy enough to believe it was...

  • He is obviously not well enough in the history of hearing aids. He does not seem to have found that hearing technology had come further than hearing horn, at this time, the latest technology has been delivered from Western Electric - Model 34A "Audiphone" Carbon Hearing Aid.

  • i got the explanation: This women/man invented later the cellpone, she is a visionary, a bit crazy but genious inventor and probably she also invented the essence of rejuvination but its not sure.

  • @Born2BeBanned *woman

  • thumbs up if ray send you here

  • @youri334 maybe u would get more thumbs up if u spelt correctly

  • @youri334 lmao he actually did! lol

  • Sent here by Ray William Johnson? I think so :L

  • I liked this video; but i do have a small doubt, if she was using a mobile phone back then, who was she talking to? i mean did someone else too traveled back in time to have a mobile phone chat? or was there wired phones back then, i am bad in history; so who was the service provider? vodafone?

  • When you look at the slow down, lookin' towards the camera, she bends her fingers, and her hand is empty. Probably just her scratching her ear.

  • RayWilliamJohnson FTW

  • "The company pioneering this technology continued to work towards the goal of cell phones, and in 1947 adopted the name Motorola. Though portable phones were essential to troop communication during both world wars, it was really as late as the 1970's before the wireless technology to make theme truly practical."

1947, sure its a bit late but..

    "Both world wars"

This is information researched by the way.

  • OMG!!! It's ROSE TYLER talking to her mom!

(Thumbs up if you know what I'm talking about)

  • This man is obviously a marketing fukin geniuos!! Millions now know about his movie production because of a stupid lie.

  • thumbs up if RWJ brought u here

  • time is a human illusion....

  • I would say three things: 1st There is no time travel or anything. 2nd The lady is covering up her face with a tiny purse. 3rd She complains to the camera in disgust to be filmed.

  • @carmalcoz that sounds bout right. That's the smartest conclusion I've seen

  • Suppose it was a mobile phone.... am i correct in thinking it wouldn`t work anyway as there are no transmitionn masts around in 1928 lol

  • @d1scobiskit Thats what I said. Then I get some dick asking me why I called it a cellphone, he says they are called mobile phones. I guess countries can't have their own slang terms.

  • Maybe its Einstein they knew each other sure he was in something with him too. He predicted we'd go wireless one day lol maybe he just thought it would be funny when we did :p Did say it looked like a guy? Sorry im bored :/

  • FAKE! AND GAY!

  • i think she was masterbating but she is so christian she masterbates in her ear

  • i think you're all right, it is a hearing device, shes like kind of ajusting her hand at the end so she could be fiddling with something like that

  • ahahahahaha this is total bs!

  • maybe he's right....XD

  • The first hearing devices are bigger horns but soe firms made them smaller and compact. You could put them easaly in your pocket.

at my site, item 'varia', scrolled below, you can find some images.

    w w w . patrickmahieu. be

check also the site ' beckerexhibits '

  • Its a hearing device and she's talking to a person nearby. Get over it

  • She is scratching her head and eating or something

  • Hehe, NO. And time travel backwards in time will forever be impossible. All leading physicists agree on this, but it doesn't take a brilliant physicist to understand why actually.. : )

  • WHY THE FUK SHE TALKING ON THE AUDIO BOX AND STOPPED WHILE DOING IT WEIRDD

  • Comment removed

  • This is what i came out with for Charlie Chaplin's 1928 misterious device seen in 'The Circus' behind the scene sequence.

western electric audiphone model 34A - hearing aid created in 1925 check this out :

    youtube.com/watch?v=xrBJ7ldNZMc

  • @electra4554 just checked it out on google and that could be it .... only problem i have is why is the person in this video holding it upto the ear when it states that this part is used as the microphone? The person should already be wearing the earpiece? also don`t see any wire/cord which should have the volume adjustment attached..

  • It's probably a boxy hearing aid like a Western Electric Model 34a or a Seimens Model 1924. They were invented in the early 1920s and would have been state of the art for that time. They are of course nothing like the discrete, nearly invisible aids that elderly people use today. Google "hearing aid musuem" and see for yourself.

    Time traveler my fucking ass.......

  • @Lalo3001 Also a Siemens Halske wallet hearing aid would be able to be held discretely.

  • @Lalo3001 I know, my grandad watches Charlie Capman, and when I showed him this video, he came up with the same answer. Is this guy mentally challenged, I'm sure if an Old lady can use time travel, why the HELL would we not know of it :L

  • Escuse me for asking, but why would a random person, who is time traveling, be on a set of a movie or TV show? Maybe the actress forgot what time she was meant to be in for the movie, or maybe the director mislayed it.

  • @Lalo3001 Doesn't it seem odd that this dude in drag is talking into his Western Electric Model 34a hearing aid? I don't know about time travel but this transvestite's behavior is extremely unusual for that era.

  • she is grabbing her lenses

  • it really does look like she is talking on a cell phone!!

  • yeah but if it is a time traveler who the f*** will he be talking to?

  • mock him all you want but nobody can argue that the footage is really odd. what device in the 1920s do you stick on your ear and talk to? hearing aid? they come in some horn-like form during those times. a crazy woman? well if you were one during those times you're not gonna mimic using a celfone to begin with. wierd or what.

  • "Mr. Watson: come here. I want you." These were the first words ever spoken on a telephone, and young Watson, Aleck Bell's research assistant, heard them in a distant room of the house, and he came running.

Remember this date: March 10. 1876. Yes, the telephone had been invented, but mind you, there was only one instrument available. This was to change.

  • Where are the cellphone towers, satellites would be? Even if a time travler would go back in time, the cellphone would be useless without these vital parts. There would be no signal at all. That would be like taking a TV back into the 1800's. No TV towers, no picture.

  • @JeffroTV What the fuck is a Cellphone , you mean mobile phone

  • @morry27 what the fuck is a mobile phone?

  • @JeffroTV It is a phone that is mobile ie it is portable and goes anywhere cos it is.. mobile, like its owner it is mobile, you are not restricted by wires with your mobile

Why is it called a cellphone in the land of the free and home of the gay ? cos it is made of cells ? eh ???

  • @morry27 cell is short for celluar, celluar frequency. Damn you're stupid. Mobile in the land of the rotted teeth and straight family trees. Go screw Princess Diana some more.

  • @JeffroTV Coming from the country that elected Bush its a bit rich calling me stupid

Diana was English I am from Scotland which is a bit like asking you to screw a Canadian

go shove you celluar frequency portable telephone up your ass

  • Geez... In the future there aren't any cell phones! At the point of, & possibility of time travel, there will be TT phones. (Time Traveler Phones) They speak to other fellow time travelers on holiday such as her. It also allows for HQ communication to coordinate a "jump" to the next "time holiday" whenever the traveler gets what he/she wants out of it. I know, I'm one of them...

  • This man is an idiot

  • that is so real im not saying time travle is real but that is so insain

  • ive uploaded an explanation to my channel, i think it speaks for itself.

  • Honestly... Maybe you should continue researching other films in this timeframe as well as research anything that was used in that time to talk. Because the big joke is that if time travel is real, why don't we see time travellers... Maybe we do and haven't paid attention.

  • @jumbalyiajefferson Of course we don't see them, why would they want to be seen? I'm pretty sure it could ,mess stuff up.

  • @MUNCHDUDE Lol thanks captain Obvious.

  • what makes this real for me is 3 factors: the "cellphone" then if you look carefully the "woman" is transparent the whole time, you can see through her the whole time shes on screen, then the fact that she fades away that makes this very real for me and gives me ease to know these are the things we can do and/or capeable of....just the "cellphone" was iffy for me then to add the other things made it very real, & not only that but to be honest it is very clear it could be a cellphone

  • @FangtasiaGrl Well to clear that up for you, the whole "fading away thing was the effect of the scene fading out, but that STILL leaves the phone issue..
