Classic and sophisticated house: I loved that era when you had good stand-alone (pop) songs and the hooks/ melodies/ other elements were transferred and/ or re-interpreted in completely new house versions. This is what I call a proper REMIX. Today you just have a bunch of cowboys calling themselves "remixers" when all they do is speed up an original track over a soul-less, generic house groove (not cool at all).

@originaldeftom I was a househead then AND now and I usually defend what there is now because the good stuff is often WAY under the radar, and there's still some beautiful and soulful music being made, but you are TOTALLY right about the pop remix! The incredibly lazy work of so many, even "classic", DJ's (Timmy Regisford, c'MON!) is embarrassing!

@originaldeftom I agree, but there's plenty of good new house tracks, such as 'Love Will Know' original & roots mix and even Timmy Regisford's recent remix of Peven Everett's Burning Hot is a sexy mix. I've been listening to soulful house since the early 80's I think people that used to listen to the really old stuff have they themselves become stuck in the past. As good as the classics are you have to give the newer music a chance and you might be pleasantly surprised as to what you've missed.

@Cromeus I think a lot of the new stuff is too noisey and busy sounding. The older stuff has more jazzy and laid back elements in the chords and rhythms and the vocals are allowed to breathe. I'd like to checkout some of the newer stuff you mention, if you have more recommends please do so. I have listened to some Stereo Sushi and that sounds pretty good but MAW are still Masters.
