@dmc081 I purchased it from TigerDirect. As of today, it's still running strong and the touchscreen works fine even though it is stated in their description that this particular model is not a touchscreen. Pretty sweet deal for $320 :)

Yep! It's all true. My older model Toughbook has been around Europe with me for the last three years and just won't quit and they're NOT made of regular plastic, it's some kind of plastic/metalic fusion. Also they work in extremes to temperatures (-50c thru +50c). Mine looks like a disaster though!

this is a great computer for warehouse, for delivery drivers.. if you own a buisness and your labour employees need a computer- this pays for itself in one drop like this guy just did.

I have the same laptop and it has a protective gel case over the hard drive. The only moving part is the hard drive. It doesn't have a fan or anything that moves. I did add the DVD drive and it does spin but most people take them out when not in use.

More ram and harddrive space that thing has got to be slow! How can less than a gig of ram and a 40 gig hardrive support the things you need? It will run slow once you put Adobe 9, AVG, SUPERAntiSpyware and then whatever it is you need. When the girl at TigerDirectBlog reviewed this everyone was with me about this thing blowing goats. How hard would it be to build it with a 100 gig hardrive and a gig of ram at least/

My guess is that the machine do not need active cooling if it is sealed, and that it uses the metal casing to conduct heat away from hot components. It is probably designed with low power components too, to minimise the heat .
