aaaaaaaaah my childhood... in a different country but yep. im the son of a protestant father and catholic mother, i said "screw up both" and am kind of a daoist
I remember this was quite a hit when I was a teenager.
There are a lot of songs I don't sing - some I don't think I would do well enough, some I don't think are worth singing, and a lot more I still haven't heard yet!
So they should be! They are professionals, whereas I just sing for fun. I don't see the point of such comparisons. Everyone can enjoy folk music. It's not some kind of competition.
Thanks so much. I've been trying to find this song forever. I was raised Irish Protestant, but married a catholic. My family tries to tell me why i'm such a sinner while his family tells me about saint peter and mother maary rejoicing in heaven, LOL, so it's nostalgic for me, and I can relate as well
I think if I tried an Irish accent it would just sound fake. With over four hundred songs now I'm bound to pop up all over the place. Some people must be getting sick of seeing my face here!
It has been literally decades since last I heard this song,so I thank you so much for performing it. Isn't it sad how things haven't changed much since this song had been first written and performed?
This is a great song! Religions just sucks. But the song is great, I just love it.

Very funny - I like The Grehan Sisters' version - we used to put it on the pub Jukebox after Oasis - quite a contrast!

You're welcome. We are all basically the same whatever our religious beliefs, and folk music hopefully can help us understand that.
