Awesome video. I love it. There is a song by Brother Ewing I need to find. It's about "The Old Pawn Shop." That may not be the title, but it was a tremendous inspiration to me. If someone has it, please post... soon.
Rest in peace, Brother Murrell. You now see Jesus face to face!! Your voice will be missed, but you were shouting in His presence Dec 31, 2010 when he beckoned you to your real home>
I just read on my aunt's facebook page that Bro. Murrell has passed away and his funeral/memorial services were today. The world lost a great man and a great voice. No matter that I'm not in church now, his voice and passion can still make me cry. Rest in God's grace Bro. Ewing.
Bro. Ewing, Heaven has gained a wonderful man and now an angel...you and your beautiful voice will be greatly missed but I know you are singing in Heaven!!
I was so sad to hear of Bro. Ewing's passing last night. He was one of the greatest & most talented people I have ever had the honor of meeting. Thank you SO MUCH for putting this up there! You have no idea how much better this made me feel! I have such good memories of him and his wife!
I use to sit in the congregation and listen to this man sing at Louisiana Camp and oh how he could bring the house down. In Longview Tx at Bro Spears church and hear him sing that song about "What's that I'm hearing is it the sound of the trumpet" Such glory and God would move. Sad to say, I'm no longer a part of it. I'm in the dark, but to hear this song gives me hope that once again I can live in the whole glory of God. Thanks, Bro. Murrell for sharing your talent!
I had the priviledge many years ago to attend the UPC Nat'l Conf with my wife and couldn't wait for Bro Ewing to start the Conference singing, GOD BLESS AMERICA. It would bring chills over me and I always considered him my favorite singer. I had tears flowing listening to him sing, Grace at the Bill Gaither Gathering!
I have been blessed in life to know this man personnaly. Him and His wife are awesome people of God. Truely we need more like them. Lord bless you Bro. Ewing.
At 43 seconds in, watch the lower left corner. Note the body language of the guy when Murrell sings that God was 'alone.' The guy gives an 'I told you so' glance and folds his arms. He stays folded from then on. He should read the Bible, Isaiah 44:24, where God said He did it 'alone.' It's just too much. :-)
@PastorDougJoseph This sounds a bit judgemental to me. How do you know what he was thinking when he folded his arms.. What do you think about at his reaction at 4:40-4:56? Looks to me like wholehearted approval and maybe even a wave of friendship to Murrell. Maybe he was one of the first to welcome Murrell to Heaven, since he preceeded him by almost exactly 10 years.
Murrell has a unique voice like no other! I have loved to hear him sing for many years! When he sings he tells a story each time. You can tell he feels what he sings. Wow what a man of God! I Pray for him often! Mark Miller:) Music4HimNow Ministry
Beautiful! Absolutely Beautiful! What an anointing! Thank God for men & women of Truth who will go and minister in the midst of people who haven't come to the full revelation of who God truly & fully is! Beautiful anointing! Mercy!
No. it doesnt matter whether or not its upc.. Brother Ewing is a phenomenal man. Not a foul word can be said of him or about him... i love him.. He is my pastor. He has never, even through all of his trials, failed at that job. Hes the kind of fella that cares about the people who are in his church.. or like me.. out of church .. he doesnt care about my money or what i can do for him. Brother and sis Ewing genuinely care for the people in this world.. even the bitter ones.. i am one i know
Bro. Ewing is such an anointed man of God. At the LA District Senior Camp 2009 some group from cali got up and did a great job but you felt know anoinitng... Bro. Ewing got up and sang one little chorus and such a presence of God was ushered in... Bro. and Sister Ewing are Champions of the Faith and I love them so much!! What a Heritage
This song is so awesome - I found it today and have just sat in my office and had the most wonderful time in the presence of the Lord! How thankful I am that He saw me in such a mess with my lift but yet He loved me. Thank you Bro. Ewing for this song and thank your wonderful wife Joan for writing it. God bless you both.
I don't think that comment was intended to be taken that way. I agree heaven is not only for UPCI, but they they have kept the foundation of truth and true spirit of worship over the years and God has continued to bless them for it. Also, they understand the oneness of our almight God, so don't know them for it!!! Remember when Nicodemis asked Jesus how can I enter the kingdom of Heaven??? His answer was you must be born again of spirit and water! Thats who will be in heaven!
Good to see someone who stands for what thus saith the Lord on here. The truth separates. Praise God! Ignorance is no excuse, we've all been given many chances. Secular is secular and sacred is sacred. Of all gray areas out there, this is an absolute. Jesus reigns forever!
After watching Bro Ewing sing an awesome song under the anointing, and watching the response of the people gathered there; How can we come to any other conclusion than that This Apostolic Faith is Worth Defending and keeping free of compromise!!!!
I'm sorry, but this comment is totally uncalled for. What difference does it make whether this is a UPC function or not? Typical UPC folks, and it makes me sick to know this mentality exists. So, I guess he's going to hell???
Woa man! I hear bitterness. Sounds like you have been mistreated somewhere and God needs to heal a wound. And he can. I am sorry you have been mistreated, but you read too much into that comment. Love thinks no evil or keeps record of wrong.
It is a Bill Gaither Homecoming. They all stood to their feet. This song is an awesome insight into the mystery of Godliness...God was manifest in the flesh I Timothy 3:16.
thank you for putting this on. brother ewing is kin to me, he would really apprecate it . he's in need of prayer for healing he has cancer. he has been through alot in his life but god pulled him through it all.
Again WOW ! I happened upon this almost by mistake, and I too remember Bro Ewing in the Conquerers quartet fromt he early 70s. Always a gracious man, anointed by God. I miss the old times-------
Murrell Ewing is truly a gem among men; sweet tempered man, great preacher, loved by many. I remember when he used to come to our church (when I was going to the San Jose, Calif. church) and was part of the Conquerors Quartet. Sis Ewing played the piano. That was way back in the day....since then, I've heard him preach a few times. Always a blessing. Never arrogant. Truly a man of God.
Joan Ewing is the most talented and gifted lady I have ever met. She is a master in theory and has an incredible ear. She was the pianist for the first album UPC ever made and many there after. Her unique introductions to every song were startling and one was amazed how she worked it into a beautiful finale.
The message of each song she wrote was full of magic and depth and stirred everyone who heard it. There has been none like her and likely never shall be again.
These are my mentors. They have remained unchanged thru all these years. They are my friends and I love them. They taught all of us to sing at youth camp many years ago along with Sis. O'Brien. While the org. changed the style away from this kind of singing, Joan Ewing kept writing and he kept singing. This is the real annointing of the Holy Ghost. Nothing else compares with it.
I remember and admired the Ewings as a young man in the UPC....this is what I MISS in UPC...the anointed singers...and Joan is the BEST songwriter..I have ever known...I'm glad I found this! Thanks!!
Thank You for posting this song, after coming in from a long day at work I just close my eyes and let the words wash over me, no matter what I think of myself he saw me in his likeness.
What a God given voice that can only come from a life completely given to God knowing this man that is exactly what it is.
