  • this is a demo and is done in a way to be safe. it is easy to pop joints and possibly kill if it was more intense.

  • At 1:55 he decides to fix his hair lol

  • No matter where you go there is always a screaming fucking kid!!!

  • and he cannot even control his own weight.

  • SO FAKE. give me a break

  • @callmebackfriday2 I have practised this and I'll tell you, It may look over the top, but the guys flip around and fall because if they didn't they'd break their wrists. Put your arm out with the palm of your hand facing you then rotate it to the right and see what way your body is inclined to move in order for it not to break.

  • intresting, does Seagal had russian slavegirls at those time?

  • i'm pratice aikido i'm have 6th kyu

  • Seagal is a wife beating asshole. Ask Kelly LeBrock. Hope he rots in hell. And his movies all suck.

  • Stevens like more give me more people to throw around!!!!

  • Danny Inosanto saids that Steven Seagal hits as hard as he does in the movies, and even though he is much older now he is still quite fast with his punches

  • You, you and you vs the giant White man.

  • Silly fat bastard

  • I would like to see he doing this on a real battle like MMA...

  • @arucardseito he has, he trained anderson silva in it

  • @drakenmass18 Meanless, train is not fight, an old 90th yeas old man can train somenone...also I think it was purely marketing...

  • nossa que lixo sera que o cara se joga!!!!

  • and a check of the hair @ 1:54..Good to go..Now get over here you punk..

  • top mma fighters always dig down to their roots, martial arts.

this may look fake to most who do not train, but its all techniques which take years to master.

this guy is a walking textbook

  • 2) in Aikido is the attacker needs to yield enough so the defender gets a sense of doing technique properly while taking the fall safely. In any MA, sparring or working on technique in a realistic way without serious injuries entails a *HUGE* measure of trust between training partners, to push the intensity as far as possible while still exercising enough control. The nature of Aikido technique adds extra difficulty to that.

  • 1) it's a demonstration, for chrissakes. How is it that there are so many Internet authorities on martial arts who fail to inderstand that when doing a demo for show, or breaking down a technique for novice students, or doing drills in class, the object is not to send them to the friggin' ER?

  • its a apresentation

  • The problem starts when the opponent do not want to fly just fight.

  • Its a flow technique drill.

  • I RESPECT THIS GUY LIKE BRUCE LEE.

    MAYBE MORE!

  • Aikido tends to look fake, because it is really unbelievably effective. Some of his movements you can't see, which is why so many attacks look staged. But trust me, we had an Aikido student in our Wing-Tsun class. And the levers, locks and throws REALLY do work. The more aggressive you attack, the more you will end up on your butt.

  • It looks fake

  • se ve mas falsa la wea xD

  • Really? This are students from the same dojo. They are supposed to pretend they're taken down by so much as a glare from this guy. If an actual combative opponent comfronted him, I'm sure that opponont won't just pretend to fall on the flor upon his touch.

  • @jm357m Very effective. Yes the demonstration is choreographed to a certain extent. That does not take away from the skill level of the participants. Sensei Segal is a well qualified instructor and practitioner.

Kerry Killingsworth - 4th Dan TKD, 2nd Dan Jujitsu, 1st Dan Judo

  • ITS FAKE.... this is all for show... ive been and been in one of these shows in the states... he is an actor

  • @MrCmonster13 There are no Aikido competitions like most martial arts, there are demonstrations. This is one such demonstration. Don't underestimate Seagal though. He operated his own dojo in Japan (the only Westerner to do so for Aikido) and was a martial artist long before his acting career. It's also not the only Martial art that he is a black belt in.

  • @Overfiend002, i didnt call it a competition first off. However, there certainly are compettions for most martial arts (aikido included). regaurdless less though, these demonstrations are choreographed to the max. i understand that he is to be respected but at the same time i lose respect for this poticular martail art because in my experiance it is not a realistic form of self defence. thats not to say that its a worthless art, because it certainly is not.

  • How effective is this in real life

  • @jm357m really effective once you're advanced (1. Dan at least), but it'll also help you if you're unexperienced

  • I taught him everything he knows while on craigdates...lol

  • I don't think you people realize that if you don't flip yourself when practicing these techniques your joints will snap.

  • Gracias por el vídeo

  • it only looks choreographed because if the guy didnt roll all the time his wrist would be shattered by those holds and throws.

  • attackers acts like they met somebody in the audiens and run to ...then seagal conter attacks that is how it looks like

  • The reason why the person reacts the way he does. Is the way your limb is being moved. With momentum and the option of either you go that way or your limb breaks.. you end up going with the move applied to you rather quickly. Trust me I've only taken Aikido for about 2 yrs and I know it works.

  • For info, I stopped a berserk by one hand wind pipe choke, stop a another fight by that choke again. deflect/parry a knife attacks in a car (initially the thug is behind me pointing the knife on my left side) cant see it, just feel it!.... people who never been into a fyt would say much.. the battle must be first won in ur mind..

  • i wish my 4 opponents cooperate that much in real life..

  • theres a lot of bullshit floatin arround here, why has aikido like so many other arts been around for 1000 years and is still around today, because it works, this style is based arround kinetic energy and joint manipulation, if a force is coming towards you its easier to dispel it, if this doesnt work tell it to the samurai

  • @Ronin72Uk Oh yh like the ridiculous move at 2.29 where Seagal never even touched him and the guy went flying?? This is all bullshit. A bunch of showmen.

  • @richieh1980 your eyes are too slow then. i saw seagal left hand gave pressure to the elbow of the guy... WATCH IT WITH YOUR EYES OPEN!!!, ahaha

  • @Ronin72Uk

a master that has done it all his live might be able to do that i dont know... but you can learn this 3 jeahrs and it wont help shit

its really really hard to hold a wrist in a street fight so you can do a throw like that

picture it! a man trying to hit your face... it doesnt take a second! and in this fracture of a second you try to catch his wrist... he might wear some clothes, maybe he is sweating... its very fucking hard to use this techniques

  • @rennsalami that's why you don't practice 3 years or so - you do it for life, or don't do it at all. this is no game

  • @Ronin72Uk I thought Aikido was only about 150 years old? I have seen photos that purport to depict the founder of aikido in the late 1800's or eary 1900's.

  • @Ronin72Uk bullshit you say? man, the samurai didn't use Aikido, it was developed about 100 years ago, not 1000...

  • So fake

  • And not a single fuck was given that day

  • I'll agree, Seagal is a horrible actor.

However, he is one the highest names in Aikido. If I remember right he's the only westerner allowed to operate an Aikido dojo in Japan. Done right Aikido does look choreographed. It's about minimal energy expenditure with maximum results.

Go take a class sometime. I had a Sensai who would whistle why he went through the different techniques, yet, at the same time, you'd be flipping over.

  • @defakto2227 The reason why he was able to teach over in Japan is because Steven Seagal proved himself to the Japanese masters that he was more than just a capable practioner of Aikido.

  • looks good on paper...punches will lay the fucking master down count the stars

  • Bullshit .... Not realistic at all

  • ok. first off....seagal is quite possibly one of the most craptastic and horrid actors of our time. that aside, the man knows his aikido. i consider myself more of a fan of martial arts than a practitioner....but i have had aikido demonstrated on me by an asian that stood maybe 8 inches shorter than myself and this is pretty much what it looked like when performed by someone skilled in that art. its not at all a very exciting hollywood movie type fighting art to watch, but it is very effective.

  • hay que aprovechar la fuerza del enemigo!!!!!

  • so what if anderson and lyoto have trained with him.. u really think they had never seen that kick before? its a pretty basic front kick if you ask me. can you see anderson or lyoto trying all these stupid little throws? NO, because it doesnt work in real life!

  • this isnt martial arts, its more like dancing. Look how choreographed it is.

    Utter crap.

  • @bebill2

Yep, coreographed, utter crap, it's such nonsense that anderson silva and machida 2 of the best fighters in the world wanted 2 train with him =(

  • @Pannkaksjocke I don't know if your being sarcastic or not, if you are, then your not very good at it. If not then whatever bitch.

Does that mean anything that they do? How many coaches have the both had?

Freddy roach is arguebly the best boxing coach at the moment, but does mayweather train with him? Do the Klitchschkos? Roy Jones? Andre Ward?

Does John Jones train with Seagal?

  • I couldn't stop laughing LOL

  • I've never seen so many fake falls in one video before

  • @TheAgentAssassin

Not commenting on the video, but you know Aikido? I mean you see when someone is faking? You are pro?

  • Comment removed

  • @profilescythe it didn't tag the video, but if you look up Anderson Silva front kick knockout. That's the Aikido one. It's an awesome fight.

  • @profilescythe Here you go dude. The aikido kick that Seagal taught Silva, the one that's started this big Aikido in MMA craze that fighters are doing. If you want more of the Aikido based grapples look up rik ellis or Jay Dods Ellis. Or just type Aikido MMA, there's hundreds of videos out there. This is just one of the more popular ones. the form is Aikido, he was taught by an Aikido instructor, he says it's aikido.

  • and also sayoc kali with a knife, man that would be the best military martial art system, you got striking covered, you have joint locks when you're being grabbed, you got judo when its a full grapple and bjj if it goes to the ground, but you're not a master of them all, we only take the best techniques that we think would work in a real live fight and then you know how to fight with a knife thanks to sayoc kali, that would be my favourite art.

  • Total fake crap!

  • @del690

Yes it so fake that steven seagal got to train anderson silva and lyoto machida, two of the best fighters in the whole world:(

Btw.. the reason why they throw themselves is because if they did otherwise he would brake their wrist

  • @Pannkaksjocke Your as big a joke as Seagal dude, lol.

  • @del690

dumbass youtube troll talks about martial arts. Your making a fool out of yourself

  • @M0481 Let me keep this short and sweet.....Fuck off!

  • go home grandpa

  • @TheDIEabeticRage

aikido cant help jack shit in street fights.

  • pick someone your own size...

  • I never saw Aikido in UFC.

  • @ernesto98 if u havent seen aikido in the ufc then why is steven seagal training anderson silva??...ofcourse u wont see it in this form ...check the video ...anderson silva with steven seagal

  • when you get into a fight on the street the whole point of aikido is that your enemy does not know you know aikido and your enemy isnt an MMA fighter in the first place, we are talking about your average attacker on the streets who throws punches n tries grabs n all that, BJJ is MMA martial art, you cant use BJJ in a real fight on the street unless you are sure its you and 1 attacker otherwise someone might come and kick u in the head

  • aikido is the ultimate self defence martial art, it is not meant for MMA, try you bullshit brazillian jui jitsu on multiple attackers or when someone pulls a knife on you and see how far that gets you, also the gracie brothers and you MMA tards have the nerve to call seagal arrogant!!?? i dont care to be honest, its nice to get my point across though because im right, seagal is a respected martial artist, actor, musician and they are all jealous of him, MMA fans miss the true value of MA

  • @Brady2k10 on multiple attacker situation you're fucked anyway, no matter how many blackbelts you have

  • @wedingo not if your good and you have room to move ive been thinking, wouldnt it be good if someone took techniques from krav maga, aikido, judo and bjj that way you got everything covered, krav maga for the striking and kicking, aikido for when you're being grabbed or pushed or whatever, judo if it goes into a full grapple and bjj if it hits the ground of course that would be MMA but im talking about taking the best techniques from those and making them fit a real situation

  • bas ruttens famous kidney punch or liver punch like seagals gonna stand there and take it, you moronic MMA fans dont realise seagal is a grappler, if he cant grab a limb he will grapple for it until he gets it and he will get it because hes been doing this shit longer than all these other MMA idiots, aikido is a respected martial art for use on the streets when the need arises and is used in military and polices forces because its effective

  • while it is true some aikido techniques work better than others aikido is a good for self defence which is what it was developed for, not for stupid ring fighters who call seagal arrogant they should take a look in the mirror thinking because they have a few real fights they hot shit, like bas rutten the arrogant prick, if seagal got into a fight with bas do you think seagal will allow bas to hit him? seagal would grab that little bitch and throw him round like a ragdoll

  • MMA fans hate on seagal because he said some shit about anderson silva or whatever, or he took credit for a fight silva won because seagal showed silva a good kick to use and all the MMA fans started crying saying seagal was arrogant and thinks hes all that, well truth is he is all that, tell me what MMA fighter has a 7th dan black belt? big mouth Bas Rutten? Randy Coture? they are all jealous of seagals success in films and his 7th dan black belt

  • the reason aikido isnt used in MMA is because the opponents know not to give you anything to grab like an arm, leg wrist or whatever, and aikido when demonstrated in videos it shows the practitioners running into the master and he just throws them they teach like this because in olden times, in japan in war they would run at you with swords and spears and you would counter and also for safety you cant practice aikido for real because bones will break, aikido is actually a deadly martial art.

  • impractical, ineffective. You can't just flick people around by the wrist because it is not practical to rely on getting a hold of one. punches don't come in singles like the movies, and anyone who can fight knows their first punch is not going to land so the initiator is just to get morons like this to attempt a grab/block so the cross can freely devastate.

  • thums up if the first time u've seen Steven u thaught IT was an ugly woman !

  • Lmao I would love for any of you trolls to try and touch Steven Seagal...this is 100% real and he is a 7th degree i think..

  • That's some strong bullshit right there..........PURE CRAP!!!

  • nice choreography.....

  • WWE.....

  • Comment removed

  • Didn't see any front kicks :p

  • What are they actually trying to do to Steven ? Feed him a biscuit ?

  • para quien dice que el aikido no sirve que le pregunten a silva o maschida porque le piden asesoramiento. el aikido es un arte marcial muy contundente

  • crap

  • The perfect martial art to defend yourself against a hysterical women with muscular dystrophy

  • someone strangle that screaming seagull

  • you can use aikido in fight-s but you have to train it minimum 4-5-6 years.... but when you learn it .. hooho xD

  • this looks so fake lol wow

  • @Ryu925 it looks fake because your used to seeing a fight as two opposing forces. aikido trumps anything because someone who is skilled in aikido helps a forward moving force to continue to the ground. when fighting someone who has aikido skills if you become the agressor, you lose.

  • STEVEN SEAGAL!! FAT FUCK!! He couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag and what a load of fake shite. He's all smoke an mirrors and nothing to back it up. And for all you idiots that think it's impressive to get to 7th dan in Akido in japan.....it IS possible if you suck enough dick.

  • How many of his opponents are even close to his own size and weight?

  • @zenjim007 he's obviously taking it easy on them, and he'd obviously be a lot more aggressive in a real fight against larger opponents.

these little guys dont look like they are made of glass, and more often than not, it's little guys that run up on u in packs... :)

  • TALENT MARK RYLANCE

  • im very impressed mr. Seagel's techniques and also inspired but i have to say this video looks like everyone is just doing front flips :D

  • pussy

  • I just went to Russia and learned Spetsnaz training. It beats any Martial art.

  • @Shiryuk0 as long as your better then the martial artist. it is natural to have pride in your martial art, but it is not the martial art that is better, but the person that is doing it. if you are good with Systema, then congratz.

  • Iron Mike Tyson does this to Four Steven Seagals

  • I have not trained in Aikido but I have trained in Aiki-jujutsu. The Aiki arts WORK. They are very practical for realistic self-defense, I speak from experience.

  • I look at this and think, "That looks cool". But unfortunately, in any fight or with any enemy...they're going to be punching at your face from the start. They won't be putting out hands trying to "block" you or just run at you with their hands held out and palms flat. They'll have their fists ready to knock your face in...that's life.

  • no martial arts is better than another, it all depends on the level of skills of the practitioner.

  • @axgo21 my level in eating is 10 degree blackbelt

  • @GamerJelly and one of my kobudo instructors was taught Aikido in the marines.

  • @GamerJelly I did. Aikido is used by the American, Japanese, Chinese, Australian, German, Italian, and Canadian military forces, and that was on the first search page. But only in the sense that certain techniques are taught, the same holds true for Krav Maga. Most militaries also train in JKD and BJJ. I don't want you to think I'm an Aikido enthusiast, not my cup of tea. My point is that every art has it's specific niche and purpose. Aikido is a very nuanced sort of thing. Maga is brutal.

  • Anyone could do that to those little asian kids.

  • Hutch sent me

  • Id like to see him do that on the streets againts gangsters : ) (sarcasme)

  • yea I would have to say this is a load of shit

  • steven segal is a joke.

  • @Alarmclockoftruth You're probably going to defeat him 1 on 1, I suppose?

  • @onebadmoto (continued) i firmly believe in bruce lee's concept of borrow from everything and find the elements that work for you. the concept of aikido and some of its practices could easily move and block a person who was trying to tackle you, as could the tactics of jiu jitsu, or bjj, or judo. it all depends on what works for you. and with that logic some might not work for some people. but all of these martial schools are still around and being taught cause they have something that does work

  • nothing like a good old fashion nfl tacle. dodge that

  • for the people who say Aikido is a bunch of crap or never used in fights, you haven't a clue at all what you're talking about. Most militaries use Aikido moves, in MMA fights you're going to see some aikido, or if you're in a fight and are simply trying to move someone away from you, you've just seen one of the principles of Aikido. People who say "so and so martial art doesn't work" just show their ignorance of martial arts. ALL martial arts work if the practitioner knows how to utilize them .

  • @TheDIEabeticRage true the military uses certain moves, but most of moves that are effective are in other martial arts too and as a whole, are more effective. demonstrations like this, are also a bunch of nonsense. being twice as big as someone and having them do choreographed moves is in the past. ALL martial arts do not work. physics and reality proves this.

  • @TheDIEabeticRage Most militaries use a combination of many martial arts, self defencive and offensive close combat. However i have never heard of any military using Aikido, besides maybe the Japanese.

Most modern militaries, police or special forces are trained in Krav Maga now.

    Look it up.

  • @TheDIEabeticRage Aikido does work a LITTLE bit. Very little. Like this is definitley the most useless martial art. I would LOVE to see this guy step to an mma fighter he would get his ass kicked sooo fast you wouldnt believe. I could bet 10000$ that i would either knock this guy out or make him give up in less than 2min. I do wrestling and BJJ. I train muay thai once a week aswell he WONT be able to catch a strike of any kind by me and sure as hell aint defending a takedown

  • @B9King937 A beginner would definitely get owned. But a master in the art first would not fight in the first place. Second on a higher level he/she would feel your "evil intent" and would catch ANY move. First because they would have astounding center of gravity and be grounded. Second is because counterattack and avoidance is what is primarily taught in aikido from my limited knowledge. Third, all it takes is one small joint lock to stop a fight. I miss going to my dojo.

  • @kingmu1 yeah but im saying IF he was to fight. There is noo way in hell he can catch a punch from a trained martial artist. If he could do all those fancy moves he would be fighting right now for money. If he some how gets my hand and trys breaking it or what ever i can reverse it or i can counter it but that would never happen i wouldnt give my hand up. Nooo aikido guy is defending my takedown than once hes on the ground i can break any bone easily

  • @B9King937 What i am saying is that the Master Aikido practioner would never be on the ground to begin with! You would have attacked him/her and then you'd be on the ground or unaware to the aikido guys whereabouts because of misdirection.

  • @kingmu1 Really? if hes such a pro at defending the takedown how come he isnt in the wrestling olympics or an mma fighter making money?

  • @B9King937 Not to defend Seagal, but there is great martial artists, who don't believe in the takedown, everyone doesn't learn MA just to fight in that kind of competition. There are people who leave the spotlight to those who like its warmth.

  • @B9King937 Because aikido is not about "making money". There is more to martial arts than the "martial" aspect of it. This is what O sensei was talking about when he founded aikido. Also Aikido is the only martial art that i know of that in order to get a black belt you have to defend against multiple people. how are you going to defend against 3 people when your wrestling on the ground with ONE of your attackers?

  • @TheDIEabeticRage lol all except for most kung fu lol.

  • @TheDIEabeticRage After 20 years of pro judo, I started Aikido. I always laughing of these smooth rollings and big fallings. I tought everybody is falling wihout offence in the trainers technique. I thought it was an aikido "habit" in the dojo. I tought I knew what I must falling from after 20 years of judo...

Aikido was a total surprise. The techniques are real, you can do it hard and soft. I love that Way. But it is not a few-montht-learning method...

  • @TheDIEabeticRage good point, let me add to this. For all the MMA fans who insult aikido saying it doesnt work, it does work, but it dont work so well in MMA here's why.

In MMA the fighters know their opponents styles and aikido relies a lot on the element of surprise, if you know a fighter uses aikido you will NOT let him grab your arm or wrist because you know if you let him have that he will snap it like a twig i believe this is why aikido isnt used in MMA

  • @TheDIEabeticRage depending of what u call m.a,some will call boxing m.a,some won't.Many wristlocks, non skilled oponents who have no clue about famous aikido wrist push ups.

  • @TheDIEabeticRage ONE EXAMPLE OF AIKIDO IN ONE MMA MATCH, PLEASE.

  • Lol, wonder how long it took them to rehearse this act.

  • @55jacos lol, wonder how long it will take you to realise you're an ignorant prick.

  • @darkdrake13 the shits rehearsed get over it

  • @Vinlaell its a demonstration fucktard, meaning he's showing advanced techniques to a crowd. if for a second you thought they were fighting, I have some bad news for you.

  • these guys know what there are doing they know how to break a fall and not only that they are not doing it seriously. but a guy that dose not know how to fight will get heart badly and if people get hurt with using aikido in a real fight is because they think they know all about it and don't expect to get hurt but you must think all ways that there is someone better than you so be careful when fighting and never start one because you never know if he can beat you.

  • All of you who thinks that aikido is ineffective are a bunch of shit.

these guys are professional and they know what they are doing they know how to brake a fall and they are not really doing it seriously. But in a fight when the bad guy is coming at you throwing a punch or kick or has a knife in his hand he is in for a shock when he gets thrown to the ground in a split second. I am not saying that aikido is the best no but it can sure kick ass. I want 2 c u fight some one who knows aikido.

  • @gabyb12345URI but this crap is not even close to tha potential of real aikido which also is crap.

  • Obviously scripted. 4 normal guys would not have a problem with him.

  • HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA are these cunts serious? HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHA give me a break!

  • bullshit

  • Kill thame all!

  • Yap!

  • you know before watching steven seagal lawman i never realised all the akido he did in his movies was real it seemed fake because it was so insanely good but now i watch his movies and have a new found respect for him steven seagal one of the few action stars who could perform the stunts in his movies in real life dont mess with him way tougher than chuck norris

  • What gets me is that all these idiots claiming that seagal is a fake and that this video is a fake havent yet understood that what is going on here are demonstrations, those people being flipped around are REALLY being flipped around how ever they are taught to roll or move into the deflects Seagal throws at them so as to avoid having broken limbs since Akido relies on the deflection and redirection of kinetic energy and momentum in order to disable or farther, completely disable(Death) the foe

  • @TheJohnnyXtreame now i'm no idiot and i'm not saying that this is fake. but what i'm saying is in a real life situation this would NEVER work. you are never going to grab someones wrist and flip them or break their wrist. aikido is one of the most ineffective martial arts no one fights running at u with their arms forward waiting for you to grab their wrist

  • @mmaandrew13 Theres a lot of idiots out there that dont know how to fight!

  • @SuccessfulPossible very true but still no one fights like that unless you're fighting a retard in which case you're mean for doing so. merry christmas

  • @mmaandrew13 you are verry stupid if you think its ineffective..

  • @ZeRox024 you have no idea what you're talkin about. there is a reason you have never seen someone using aikido win a REAL fight. because it doesnt happen

  • @mmaandrew13 i suppose you will defeat him 1v1 ?

  • @ZeRox024 yes i would. it's really not saying much though he's old and fat.

  • 2:30

    COME AT ME BRO

  • Aikido is dangerous, but not from seagal. Hes a dam actor people, the only real actor who entered in real tournaments and was champion at one time, Chuck Norris, no bull check it out. And besides he was trained by bruce lee.

  • @tebocardoso lol

  • @tebocardoso don't talk shit bro.. bruce lee & chuck norris worked out together.. but at that time chuck norris was already a professional fighter, bruce lee wasn't, he was good but he wasn't a professional fighter... go find an interview of chuck norris talking about bruce lee and listen carefully!

  • boooooo!

  • forgive for my bad grammer. it's Aikido
