Judging from the video it looks as if the rider was speeding! in which case the driver seen the bike approaching and figured they had enough time to make the left, if the rider was traveling the posted speed. it is really hard to judge the speed of an oncoming bike because they are smaller. so yes the car was at fault for not yielding the right of way, but the rider was also at fault for speeding. not all bike riders are the angels they are made out to be.
looks like he tried to brake and avoid the crash by going right but the driver was turning right...if he'd gone left he would have gone straight into the red SUV.
Some people just shouldn't be allowed to drive. I say you have to have 100% pass on your test to drive, because i hate seeing bike riders getting hurt when alot of them are nice people
100% cars fault (money on it being an older women). but the car pulled over sooo slowly if the motorbike was looking ahead and not driving over the speed limit which it probably was it could have avoided it. ( it was 4 seconds from it moving over to bike hitting). although the only other option was missing left to hit other car head on or right to hit telegraph pole. so that was probably the best outcome!

My dad was killed this way. Him and a friend of his were on the way to meet friends for dinner and a woman cut them off trying to turn into a driveway on their side of the road. The crash was at approx 530pm on 6/9/10 he died the next day at 915pm. His girlfriend suffered serious injuries. The woman who hit them was unlicensed and had only minor cuts/bruises...so F-ed up.... Please people PAY ATTENTION!!! Bikers are out there you have to be aware! Dad, I love you and I miss you.....so much.....

I always try to avoid roads where cars have to cross my lane to get to somewhere of interest because of this type of accident.
This accident is the cars fault, no question. However, most car drivers don't have the advantage of knowing what it's like to drive a bike, and therefore can't accurately judge the limitations of the bike. Bikers always tell me they have to consider everything a threat to stay alive, yet car drivers aren't always aware they are in control of a killing machine.

Failure on both parts to notice each other was there. The car obviously is supposed to yield to oncoming traffic vs pulling in front of them slow... But the biker should have noticed the car and avoided him or stopped.

I couldn't agree more. You constantly have to watch what everyone else is doing because they don't. I love it when people say "motorcycles are dangerous" when its because of that dumbass that can't watch what hes doing. I hate 90% of car drivers so much that I refuse to drive a car. I feel safer on a motorcycle than in a car because a car invites you to fall asleep and/or encourage you to do other things besides pay attention imho.
I don't know what the speed limit was here but that driver just keeps going untill the biker was a foot or two away when they hit the brakes.
Then what really pisses me off is no other cars stayed to help, the driver that hit the biker sits in the car like they are the ones hurt and only ONE, ONE PERSON, checks on the biker that was thrown.

I hear ya! I almost got taken down last week. I knew enough to slow at the intersection where I didn't have to stop but the bitch to the left had a stop sign and was messing with hir phone. She pulled in front of me and I about lost it on some gravel. When she saw how pissed I was she floored it and ran the next too stop signs and hit a minivan full of kids.

Thats crazy man, I started riding about 4 months ago and women with cell phones scare me the most...There had been a couple times where if I didn't have a quick little bike with decent stopping power I would have been dead.

The bike have no time to steer properly if he was running 120kms to 150kms. The impact was so strong that the bike got stuck and the rider was thrown in the air.
The car should have give the right of way to the biker, and should had helped the biker during the crash.

I had a cop pull out in front of me the other day, a cop, and I had to apply my brake pretty heavy and I was doing the speed limit. I hope less and less wrecks happen like this overtime. I couldn't agree more. You constantly have to watch what everyone else is doing because they don't. I love it when people say "motorcycles are dangerous" when its because of that dumbass that can't watch what hes doing. I hate 90% of car drivers so much that I refuse to drive a car. I feel safer on a motorcycle than in a car because a car invites you to fall asleep and/or encourage you to do other things besides pay attention imho.

I don't know what the speed limit was here but that driver just keeps going untill the biker was a foot or two away when they hit the brakes.
Then what really pisses me off is no other cars stayed to help, the driver that hit the biker sits in the car like they are the ones hurt and only ONE, ONE PERSON, checks on the biker that was thrown.
At least the biker looked like he was wearing decent protective gear. Hopefully he walked away with some minor injuries or less.

I hear ya! I almost got taken down last week. I knew enough to slow at the intersection where I didn't have to stop but the bitch to the left had a stop sign and was messing with hir phone. She pulled in front of me and I about lost it on some gravel. When she saw how pissed I was she floored it and ran the next too stop signs and hit a minivan full of kids.
You think they would make people take some sort of test to be able to drive!

Pretty messed up.... First of all whoever was driving that car shouldn't have been driving the car! nor have a license or go practice somewhere else, talk about taking your sweet time turning...... another thing, motorcycle did look like it was going a bit too fast for the area. Pretty messed up how most of the other people just kept of driving by, help fellow people... Hope everyone was alright.

couple of things... I allways and i mean allways give way to bikers here in the UK.. 1 as they are quicker and 2 because they are more vunerable on the road. Im now 30 and just about to take my CBT and seeing stuff like this scares the crap out of me.. But another thing. If this video is real and i think it is... Ich weiß ja nicht wie alt du bist oder ob du schon nen Führerschein hast aber es ist generell gesetz dass, wenn man beim abbiegen die 'entgegenkommende' Spur überquert immer die entgegenkommenden Autos/Motorräder Vorfahrt haben. Also hätte der Typ/die Frau mit dem weißen Wagen warten müssen. In diesem Fall hier kann der Staat oder der Motorradfahrer bereits auf 'Versuchten Mord' plädieren ;-)

The bike have no time to steer properly if he was running 120kms to 150kms. The impact was so strong that the bike got stuck and the rider was thrown in the air.
The car should have give the right of way to the biker, and should had helped the biker during the crash.

Too bad the biker didn't know how to countersteer around the stupid bitch who closed the door on him. He had plenty of room to live on the right if he had just countersteered there. The biker wasn't paying attention either... I didn't even see him in a nosedive before impact... he just seem to hit her at full speed.
To stay alive on a bike in traffic you've got to learn and practice certain things. This poor guy didn't seem to lear them.

Notice that the driver didn't even get out of the car to check on the biker she just killed? No, she ain't hurt... there's no force in that crash capable of injuring her. I had 28 years before retiring from the Metropolitan Police. Seen thousands of these.

That's why I quit riding. My area has had so much urban development that the roads aren't safe.... nevermind that most drivers aren't thinking about motorcycle riders.
I think most car drivers believe that motorcycles, because of thie size and nimble handling can avoid anything.
It only takes a car driver a second to be doubly sure the road is safe.

From the looks of this video . It was the motorcyclists fault. He didn't even try to avoid hitting that car. He never slowed down! He must have been distracted by something. On the other hand, the car was crawling making that turn into the gas station. Did the driver see the biker and wasn't sure how fast he was going? I don't know. I pray that God will watch over me while I am on my bike!

Man I hate seeing shit like this. I just makes me even more cautious when out on my bike. It's sad that 90% of bike vs car wrecks on youtube are due to cars pulling out in front or running a red light. I had a cop pull out in front of me the other day, a cop, and I had to apply my brake pretty heavy and I was doing the speed limit. I hope less and less wrecks happen like this overtime. Watching that man fly like that makes me utterly sick to my stomach. :S

Let's face it the car driver is a useful blind numbnut and should take so more lessons and a test. However, the biker is going way too fast, maybe even twice the legal limit for that type of road.
