  • We just had the weirdest camping experience at Bullfrog Pond above the Russian River in Sonoma County, Ca. One night at 2 am we awoke to the loudest scariest creepiest screaming sound. We (all nearby campers) hunkered down and didn't dare move a muscle. It was the same repetitive screeching high pitched howl, louder and louder as it got near my tent. We thought something was in distress. Now we're sure it was a Grey Fox. I hope someone has a sound clip that is better than I found googling.

  • I just saw a gray fox out here in the Sonoran Desert but he was too quick for me to catch on camera. How lucky you are!

  • Very nice!

  • Grey foxes aren't true foxes. They are actually among the oldest members of the dog family. They been around much longer than true foxes and virtually all other types of dog. They still maintain the ability to climb trees. They also range from Canada to Venezuela, although their Canadian range is severely limited.
