Wait there my friend... Don't talk out of emotions but on clear thought and evidence. The Quran speaks for it self. Let it explain to you what is Islam all about. But right now it depends whether you are willing to read it or not. FYI the quran is truly is speech of God and preserved by Him. God won't fail the test of time even 1400 years ago or test of geography in Malaysia or USA because he created it and know everything about it. There is institutionalized discrimination in both Indonesia and Malaysia against non-Muslims in terms of income, available professions and religious practice. Islam in its actual form is not compatible with democracy unfortunately. In the speaker's own country, there is vast inequality between Muslims and other groups in Malaysia. A Sikh friend of mine had to go to the Philippines to study medicine because the country only allows a small number of non-Muslims education in the higher professions.

Furthermore, his fantasy of how Islam was spread is not based in history in any shape or form. it wasn't a peaceful organic process. Initially, it was by the sword. Admitedly, this wasn't the main form of convertion as anti-Islamists exagerate, but it was a factor.

The major factor was that once they had taken over the leadership, laws were placed delegating non-Muslims to second-class citizens. Conversion often wasn't a religious experience, but a socio-economic decision.

Religious Jews here in Israel have a major problem with the institutions of Democracy. The question is: Can Islam change and adept to a democraitc world, the same way Christianity did. Christianity contains the loophole "Render unto Caesar..", which can be used to justify Separation of Church and State, the foundation of Democracy. The Quran mandates fusion of State and Mosque. Further, democracy only took off under Christianity and Judaism once secularism and science had moderated these creeds. Moderating Islam is deemed blasphemous by the religious law. The only Muslim democracy is Turkey, were a clique of Atheists controls the military and enforces democratic institutions.
