19 consecutive playoff series wins. Hard to match these days. Islanders were a good solid team. I think they don't get the respect they deserve because of MTL's 4 wins just before them, and The Oilers 5 in 7 years after that. People will talk more about the Oilers of the 80s and Habs of the 70s than they do the Islanders. Thatt's a little unfair
@Cheessa true, i think no other dynasty ever had the depth of the 80- 84 isalnders. goaltending, defense, offence, toughness, coaching, finesse you name it. 19 consecutive playoff series wins will never happen again.
Dan Kelly on the call, love it. Gee, Ken Morrow had a pretty good year in 1980. Ironically four years later, Morrow scored a series winning goal in overtime against the Rangers who were coached at that time by Herb Brooks.

who gives a fuck about your american presidents. obama is a black clown who fucks his gorilla wife in the african jungle. you stinkin islander fans, you fucking suck
Leon Stickle: MVP of the 1980 playoffs. Not Bryan Chink Trottier. Yeah that half bread hockey player was born to a stupid native and a donkey father. Go figure. No wonder the Isles dynasty fell apart in 1984, when the Oilers pissed and crapped all over them, 7-2, 7-2 and 5-2, DONT BLAME THE SCHEDULE, blame yourselves, you pricks should have won 1 or 2 cups, not 4. And you know it my American niggers. You fucking know it. And they still play in the ugly Nassau Coliseum. Pity, what a pity.
Hey killer..what grade did you finish ..2or 3....you sound like your living in the south in the 1960,s.. As for your intelligence.Well what intelligence, you know nothing about hockey..and if i'm right about you being a Canadien fan.. then us other montreal fans need to ban together and knock you out of our team....you don't deserve to be a canadien fan.....OH ya you were born to what kind of father., all i know is your an idiot, so that meens your parents must be idiots
I agree. The Islanders got lucky big time. Leon Stickle is an asshole just like Obama, McCain and the Bushes. Stupid fucks. Idiots who should rot in hell. Stupid American I tell you. You cant fix stupid brother so dont bother. Let em rot.
By the way, baseball uses a 2-3-2 system in the World Series and its never been a problem. But when the Cup record was on the line and the Isles fucked up, they blamed everyone except themselves. Typical American approach. Typical New York approach. "We never envisioned a plane crashing into the WTC". Wrong, wrong, wrong. American assumptions about the world (and themselves) are so wrong from the root one wonders how the whole country doesnt cave in. Well the Isles Dynasty caved in. Boom boom.
Canadiens are fags these days. No more Gordie Howes, Bobby Orrs, just punks like Fifi le fucktard Canadien puss ! Canada the flea America barely notices. Montreal is full of left wing queerbo's ! The Canadiens are owned by Boston ! WE WE FI FI ! LMAO !
Both Habs and Isles were great teams. Back-to-Back dynasties. You wouldn't see that today. The Wings are the closest thing to a dynasty. Dominated in the NHL for nearly 15 years and 4 Cups. Would've been 5 if they had a healthy Datsyuk. I'm a Habs fan btw.
The Isles were less than than the sum of their parts. The Oilers clearly showed that in 1984. We gave you pricks home ice advantage in 1984 and you fucked up. Lost 1-0 on home ice when Fuhr drove your pricks home with a brown bag covering your faces. You stupid idiots then blamed the schedule saying 2-3-2 was unfair when all the Isles had to do was win in Edmonton and we all know the Isles (probably) would have the Cup again. But they fucked up, and blamed the Oilers blamed the league. LOL.
WAAAAHHHHH - WWAAAAAHHHH- if only Datsyuk were healthy - WAAAHHHH - the Wings got their asses handed to them in game 6 and 7 - got their assess kicked! They are not champions - they lost the cup - dynasties dont lose like that,
Are the Wings or Penguins featured in this video? Do you need glasses? Its the great Flyers and overrated Isles in this one. And oh yeah, youll need glasses to see that Sutter was offside in game 6. Remove that goal and the Flyers win game 6 and game 7.
Remove that and.....If they did that......The refs didnt call that...... - What happened to the men in this country - acting like children - stop being a victim and grow up - you lost.
What country? Im not even American asshole. Im Canadian and a proud one. I doubt you seen the offside goal by Sutter. Nobody will ever call the Islanders the greatest dynasty except IslandersPOWER and a few other guys with small dicks LOL.
I suppose you Islander junkies think that your team would have beaten the Canadiens at any time during the 1980-81-82-83 playoffs. Wrong. The Canadiens were superior the Isles on paper. And usually paper teams do their thing, at least in those days.
The Canadiens were far superior to anything the Islanders offered. They beat the Isles in 76 and 77 playoffs, an almost same team as the 1980-1983 teams. 4-1 in 77 and 4-2 in 78. The Islanders faced anemic opposition in 1981 and 1982. Only fools ignore this. You cant call yourself the best if you dont beat the best or at least some of the better opponents.
i'm not really into the whole "which team would beat which team" argument. I'm just saying, the Islanders won 4 straight Stanley Cups, that's a great achievement, no matter how mediocre their playoff opponents supposedly were.
They were still a great dynasty. Atleast they didn't choke and lose the championships that they were supposed to win.
You're way wrong here, SIX key players not on the 76 and 77 Islander teams are Bossy, Tonelli, Goring, Duane and Brent Sutter, Sefan Persson. 77 Canadiens still the best team of all time though.
For Fuck Sake im a Devils fan and I like the Islanders more than the Rangers thats how much I think the Rangers are loosers and their fans are pathetic people who live off of the 1994 Stanley Cup.....
Thats all you see on MSG Network during Hockey Season....
It is so difficult being an Islander fan these days. How can such a powerhouse team become the laughing stock of the NHL? They have been a joke for the last 20 years. Uniform changes, bad trades, a deteriorating arena that can't be replaced. Ice girls and Sparky the dragon. It really makes me want to pick another team. But I won't because I am a diehard fan.
All U Ranger Pussies are so jealous that the Islanders actually will always be remebered as one of the great DYNASTIES in the history of all sports. When a team in any sport comes along and wins four in a row then say something. Until then Shut your faggot cumfilled mouths and deal with the ISLANDERS DYNASTY. The Isles may be bad now but u pillowbiters can never take this great time in history away from us. I was in the 8th grade when they won and a HS senior when they lost PERFECT TIMING
Total agreement. Because of You Tube and even better technology that's on the way-We don't have to argue much any more. We held up our Heaven Shakers, known as the ISLANDERS DYNASTY, long enough for technology to make it real easy for a strangers fan(strange to the Cup) or lubricators fan(that's horrible economy edmonton)to lose an argument. The video, the stats, the unbreakable history and on and on. NYI 75-85 the greatest to lace on skates. That simple.
TO ALL U MORONS WHO THINK THIS PLAY WAS OFFSIDES--U R ALL JACKASSES AND NEED TO FACT CHECK YOUR HISTORICAL INEPTNESS. This goal was never in debate as being offsides, what you ignorant jackoffs are thinking of is a Duane Sutter goal in the second period that made the score 2-1. The linesman clearly missed the offside when Gillies dropped a pass back to Goring who brought the puck back into the zone and sent a pass to Sutter who scored. GET A LIFE U FUCKING LOSERS AND THINK BEFORE U SPEAK!
I remember this like yesterday. Saturday afternoon, the Tonelli's pass, and the re-direct by Nystrom. Awesome Islanders team back then. Bossy, Trottier, Potvin, Gillies, Nystrom, Tonelli, Bourne, Goring, Morrow, Smith, etc. And not just good players....THEY WERE A TEAM!!!!
This is Dan Kelly announcing. For the CBC (the national network in Canada) the announcer was Jim Robson, who was the regular play-by-play voice for the Vancouver Canucks. The CBC did not have one steady voice for big games/series at that time. Later, Bob Cole took on that role. Dan Kelly was pretty good. A few years after this he started doing games for the other national network in Canada, the CTV.
Getting the Dan Kelly call of the goal here which is the one I heard back when I watched it back in 1980. Most of the other clips you here the Flyers announcers. Glad to hear this one.
Look for some other versions of the game her on youtube or some other sites. We definitely hear the Flyers call over the video. I thinkit's Gene Hart but not 100% sure. Whether it was the radio call added to the video I cant tell you. I have also seen it replayed on cable tv a few times over the last 5 years or so and it wasn't the Dan Kelly/CBS taping shown. Was it on phillys cable channel back in 1980?
Circa '76-'80, the league produced and syndicated the telecasts. There was no local coverage for the Finals during this period. Let me ask you, is the video the same as this, but with different commentary? If so, it could be the CBC recording. Both networks shared the same video.
If you're talking about the two links in the related videos on the right, those are both taken from the CBC broadcast. The only other one I've seen has Swedish commentary dubbed over the CBS broadcast.
Hey I rooted for the Rangers while the Isles were winning cups. What was I supposed to do? Change loyalties cause the team I rooted and still for was inferior? Have you ever considered that Ranger fans are loyal? Much more so than Islander fans. Even when you guys get a new arena you won't sell out 50% of your games. Islanders fans were spoiled for so long and are living in the past. Your team had a great run with great players. Start supporting the team you have now.
The first of 4 cups in a row. More championships than every Philly team combined have won since then. Just one more reason why NY will always be better than Philly. I think we are better bowlers too. I don't think Philly can say anything until they win something. I'll be waiting
I agree that Seattle seems like a no-brainer. I'm just guessing, but I think it's because the Key is a pit. All Seattle needs is a committed owner and a new arena.
BillyMIraComedy's comment about the Flyers not going anywhere for years in the 80's is so stupid. As the Flyers fan below mentioned, the Flyers went to the Finals in 85, 87, and lost in the semis in 88.
Stupid? Did they seal a deal? No! Case Closed, that spells nowhere to be found on the cup. Its like saying the Islanders would have won this year if it wasnt for all those band horendous calls in the Buffalo series we just had, the Isles were robbed a few times, the goal on Dipietro that had no concrete view that showed that puck went in, and Witt's goal was a goal, but its all part of the game!
The Islanders beat the Flyers for the cup in 80' and would have beat them no matter what, get over it, dont ever call me stupid fuckface! Were the Flyers competitive? Yes! Love the Flyers for that, but dont start with that wagh wagh blame shit! Offsides, your face is offsides! Now go put that on your no cup mantle
WHEN U R READING THIS DONT STOP OR SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN MY NAME IS SUMMER I AM 15 YEARS OLD i have BLONDE HAIR , SCARS no NOSE OR EARS I AM DEAD IF U DONT COPY THIS JUS LIKE FROM THE RING COPY N POST THIS ON 5 MORE SITES OR I WILL APPEAR ONE CREEPY NIGHT WEN UR NOT ExPECTING IT BY YOUR BED WITH A NIFE AND KILL U THIS IS NO JOKE SUMMET ING GOOD WILL HAPPEN TO U IF YOU POST THIS ON 5 MORE FLASH BOXES
From 1971-81, the Playoffs were an open field. In 1980, the Flyers were the top seed and the Isles the #5. This was the last time division/conference opponents met in the Finals.
I was at the game in Sect. 308 and never have seen this video before now. I have seen the Hockey night in Canada video, but that cut out a lot of the post game. Thanks for posting. TGH
They were a great dynasty, but this makes me sick every time aI see it. Yes, I'm a Flyers fan. Yes, I hate Leon Stickle. He blew that offsides call, and you know it. Dupont and Daly stopped skating, it wasn't even close. A great dynasty, but there is tarnish all over that 1st one.
I think Dupont and Daly were just late getting back. Maybe they were tired. That goal really was off sides and it was a BAAAAAAAD call. But the next three Islanders Cups and even getting to the finals and losing in 84 validates the Dynasty. And I'm a Rangers fan
The offides goal was Duane Sutters goal in the first period. Gillies skated over the blue line and made a drop pass to Goring but the puck went over the blue line by at least a foot. Goring passed it to Sutter who scored. It made the score 2-1 Islanders.
and as for you, I am a NY fan first! That cup in 94' was great for the sport of hockey, everyone watched, but the NHL went and fucked it all up with lockouts and everything else, Hockey is the greatest sport in the world, dont throw your baby rules on me pal. I love the NY Islanders more than anyone, but I love Hockey also, keep the cup here in NY!Oh bye the way, I hope Buffalo wins this year(does that bother you too)?
No I'd like Buffalo to win it too if the rangers don't. I just thought your comment was little dumb. You don't have to call me fuckface for that. GO BUFFALO!!!!
Ok, calling you fuckface might have been a little extreme, but my comment was not anywhere near stupid it was the truth. To say an offside call would have made the difference....Now thats dumb! Go Buffalo!
I'm going to state this one more time, then maybe the Islnder fans might get it. Remove the "$" sign. There is a SALARY CAP in the NHL. The Rangers DO NOT have a monetary advantage over small market teams a la the Yankees in MLB. Holy shit, how many times do I have to explain this to you idiots? PS- Rammstein totally sucks!
Oh great hockey wizard, please explain things to us so we can learn from your great knowledge, us idiots need your explanation for survival, what would we do without you? Oh great one forgive us! LOL you dick! Another guy with computer muscles....
That's what I like to hear. Admitting you're an idiot is the first step to recovery. I'm doing this for your own good. I care about you Islander fans deeply. Remove the "$" sign and maybe the rest of the NHL will gain a modicum of respect for you. Finding a place to play that doesn't resemble a junkyard would be the next step. Good luck!
Its was clean all of the suddent the gay rangers messed the trophy with the discusting.... euhhgh >.<

LMAO !
NiccaPleeze 2 years ago
Both Habs and Isles were great teams. Back-to-Back dynasties. You wouldn't see that today. The Wings are the closest thing to a dynasty. Dominated in the NHL for nearly 15 years and 4 Cups. Would've been 5 if they had a healthy Datsyuk. I'm a Habs fan btw.
vene777 2 years ago
The Isles were less than than the sum of their parts. The Oilers clearly showed that in 1984. We gave you pricks home ice advantage in 1984 and you fucked up. Lost 1-0 on home ice when Fuhr drove your pricks home with a brown bag covering your faces. You stupid idiots then blamed the schedule saying 2-3-2 was unfair when all the Isles had to do was win in Edmonton and we all know the Isles (probably) would have the Cup again. But they fucked up, and blamed the Oilers blamed the league. LOL.
CanadiensKilledNYI 2 years ago
WAAAAHHHHH - WWAAAAAHHHH- if only Datsyuk were healthy - WAAAHHHH - the Wings got their asses handed to them in game 6 and 7 - got their assess kicked! They are not champions - they lost the cup - dynasties dont lose like that,
TommyC503 2 years ago
Are the Wings or Penguins featured in this video? Do you need glasses? Its the great Flyers and overrated Isles in this one. And oh yeah, youll need glasses to see that Sutter was offside in game 6. Remove that goal and the Flyers win game 6 and game 7.
HisMajestyBobbyOrr 2 years ago
Remove that and.....If they did that......The refs didnt call that...... - What happened to the men in this country - acting like children - stop being a victim and grow up - you lost.

I suppose you Islander junkies think that your team would have beaten the Canadiens at any time during the 1980-81-82-83 playoffs. Wrong. The Canadiens were superior the Isles on paper. And usually paper teams do their thing, at least in those days.
CanadiensULTRAPOWER 2 years ago
the Islanders had their run in the early to mid 80's, you can't take that away from them. they had an awesome team.
spinnernet1 2 years ago
The Canadiens were far superior to anything the Islanders offered. They beat the Isles in 76 and 77 playoffs, an almost same team as the 1980-1983 teams. 4-1 in 77 and 4-2 in 78. The Islanders faced anemic opposition in 1981 and 1982. Only fools ignore this. You cant call yourself the best if you dont beat the best or at least some of the better opponents.
ULTRAPOWERCanadiens 2 years ago
i'm not really into the whole "which team would beat which team" argument. I'm just saying, the Islanders won 4 straight Stanley Cups, that's a great achievement, no matter how mediocre their playoff opponents supposedly were.
They were still a great dynasty. Atleast they didn't choke and lose the championships that they were supposed to win.
spinnernet1 2 years ago 2
You're way wrong here, SIX key players not on the 76 and 77 Islander teams are Bossy, Tonelli, Goring, Duane and Brent Sutter, Sefan Persson. 77 Canadiens still the best team of all time though.

JimR541 4 years ago
This game was televised exclusively by CBS; unless you mean the radio call.
KNS1996DFS 4 years ago
Look for some other versions of the game her on youtube or some other sites. We definitely hear the Flyers call over the video. I thinkit's Gene Hart but not 100% sure. Whether it was the radio call added to the video I cant tell you. I have also seen it replayed on cable tv a few times over the last 5 years or so and it wasn't the Dan Kelly/CBS taping shown. Was it on phillys cable channel back in 1980?
JimR541 4 years ago
Circa '76-'80, the league produced and syndicated the telecasts. There was no local coverage for the Finals during this period. Let me ask you, is the video the same as this, but with different commentary? If so, it could be the CBC recording. Both networks shared the same video.
KNS1996DFS 4 years ago
The video can be found right here on youtube. It looks identical to the one from CBS.
JimR541 4 years ago
If you're talking about the two links in the related videos on the right, those are both taken from the CBC broadcast. The only other one I've seen has Swedish commentary dubbed over the CBS broadcast.

Triumph72 is still hurting from the Isles destroying his youth by winning those Stanley Cups as a Ranger fan living on the Island.
Dumb fuck, if he got abused, that is his own stupid fault for rooting for the inferior team in New York.
Rangers suck cock
CCampLI 4 years ago
Hey I rooted for the Rangers while the Isles were winning cups. What was I supposed to do? Change loyalties cause the team I rooted and still for was inferior? Have you ever considered that Ranger fans are loyal? Much more so than Islander fans. Even when you guys get a new arena you won't sell out 50% of your games. Islanders fans were spoiled for so long and are living in the past. Your team had a great run with great players. Start supporting the team you have now.
dzanier 4 years ago
The first of 4 cups in a row. More championships than every Philly team combined have won since then. Just one more reason why NY will always be better than Philly. I think we are better bowlers too. I don't think Philly can say anything until they win something. I'll be waiting
savawar30 4 years ago
I agree that Seattle seems like a no-brainer. I'm just guessing, but I think it's because the Key is a pit. All Seattle needs is a committed owner and a new arena.

BillyMIraComedy's comment about the Flyers not going anywhere for years in the 80's is so stupid. As the Flyers fan below mentioned, the Flyers went to the Finals in 85, 87, and lost in the semis in 88.
dzanier 4 years ago
BillyMiraComedy 4 years ago
The Islanders beat the Flyers for the cup in 80' and would have beat them no matter what, get over it, dont ever call me stupid fuckface! Were the Flyers competitive? Yes! From 1971-81, the Playoffs were an open field. In 1980, the Flyers were the top seed and the Isles the #5. This was the last time division/conference opponents met in the Finals.

Actually it was Duane Sutters 1st Period goal that was offside. Even if they waved it off it doesn't mean the Isles wouldn't have won.

Bneezy 5 years ago
They were a great dynasty, but this makes me sick every time aI see it. Yes, I'm a Flyers fan. Yes, I hate Leon Stickle. He blew that offsides call, and you know it. Dupont and Daly stopped skating, it wasn't even close. A great dynasty, but there is tarnish all over that 1st one.
vanparty 5 years ago
I think Dupont and Daly were just late getting back. Maybe they were tired. That goal really was off sides and it was a BAAAAAAAD call. But the next three Islanders Cups and even getting to the finals and losing in 84 validates the Dynasty. And I'm a Rangers fan
dzanier 5 years ago
the goal in question was the one that sent the game into ot,,,, check it out
jerrysmi1es 5 years ago
The offides goal was Duane Sutters goal in the first period. Gillies skated over the blue line and made a drop pass to Goring but the puck went over the blue line by at least a foot. Goring passed it to Sutter who scored. It made the score 2-1 Islanders.
JimR541 4 years ago
I am a die hard Islander fan and even I cheered when the Rangers brought it home to NY in 94'. Keep it here, where Lord Stanley belongs!

Triumph72 4 years ago
I'm going to state this one more time, then maybe the Islnder fans might get it. Remove the "$" sign. There is a SALARY CAP in the NHL. The Rangers DO NOT have a monetary advantage over small market teams a la the Yankees in MLB. Holy shit, how many times do I have to explain this to you idiots? PS- Rammstein totally sucks!

That's what I like to hear. Admitting you're an idiot is the first step to recovery. I'm doing this for your own good. I care about you Islander fans deeply.
