For all you fans of ABT, NYCB and POB. etc., etc. Do you really not see the difference in training and culture here? This is IT. This is built on centuries of refinement, examination and teaching to core principles. And it continues to evolve.
this was made around 1990 - Konstantin Sergeyev is alive here, and he died in 1992. Just in case anyone doesnt known who is is, it is his version of "Raymonda" nearly everyone dances nowadays, and his version of "Le Corsaire" (originally staged for the Bolshoi in 1992 - his last production) which in ABT's repertory. Also his version of Sleeping Bauty is still in Mariinsky rep.
i agree with only ballet. people who dance balanchine wouldnt be doing so if it werent for vaganova. ~ and in my opinion it is the cleanest technique. :]
Though a Vaganova disciple myself, history can't be re-written...Balanchine left Russia BEFORE Madame Vaganova became the codifer of technique. His teachings were based upon the older Imperial School.
I'm not sure what point you are making. I'm not defending either technique. I'm simply clarifing history...Balanchine was not a pupil of Vaganova. He had left Russia before she had an active hand in revulotionizing ballet technique. If, however, you were to ask me which I think is best, I would clearly say Vaganova's record speaks for itself.
If the Vaganova scool is the worst technique for ballet, I wonder why it turned out many of the world's best dancers over many years? (Dudinskaya, Sizova, Kolpakova, Lezhnina, Soloviev, Asylmuratova, Ruzimatov, Lopatkina, Ulanova, Semenyaka, Zakharova, Vishneva, and Balanchine himself.)

True. Paris Opera Ballet is much more beautiful. The dancers are perfect, and they're the most expressive. Vaganova's students are perfect, but not expressive.
If you are not expressive in class, you are working hard. Some have the expressions naturally, while others have to consentrate to smile, even if they love ballet more than anything.
This is a gd clip in introducing Vaganova (:

my teacher me and the other students ar most defenitly expressive. Some places are not expressive in class, yet are the best on stage.

If they're not expressive in class... They don't like dancing, I think. I need to smile a live the music when I dance, Even in class
