I watched reruns of the MMC after school in the very early 70's. Then, on Saturday nights I would watch The Lawrence Welk Show with my dad just to see Bobby. As far as it being a simpler time, more wholesome and more famiy oriented, it was! Doors were rarely locked but crime happened and wars were fought. But the bad things were far and few between. I long for the days when where I live was boring. Now it's filled with illegal aliens whose kids are gang members shooting innocent children.
Back then, they couldn't even show a ladies stomach. Now TV is so filthy and disgusting and companies do it because it makes them money. Plus they want our kids to learn what they want them to learn. Sad to think of it, really.
people who like to pretend the wholesome face of the mickey mouse club had anything at all to do with reality are the saddest people on the planet. mickey mouse club is nice but the idea that that was an "innocent" time is strictly for stupid people. black dahlia? lindburgh baby? bath school disaster? albert fish? back then was as awful as now you buncha rose-colored-glasses types.
@suhwhutdee Some people like to watch things from that time because it was more simply-done. Nothing regarding outside factors. It was live, the costumes were simple and it was simple entertainment for the whole family.
Instead of putting people down who use this as an escape, why dont you just enjoy the show for what it is?
Must we watch a show and know every bit of history behind it? No.
@MelissaLovesMakeup89 I was not putting down the show - I was responding to a commenter on this thread doing the "back then was great, today's a disaster" thing that's so tiresome. Sorry to have been a wet blanket for you!

What a treasure trove you have supplied here, "Disney Fan". Thank you! In the late 50's, I would rush home from school to watch Mickey Mouse Club and American Bandstand!!
Wow, does this bring back some great memories ! You have captured some of the greatest moments of this show. Kudos to you! What comes to mind so clearly is my puppy love for Darlene. Annette was probably the most popular, but Darlene was my favorite, and so when the adventures of "Corky and White Shadow," starring Darlene, was featured, I was in seventh heaven. Thanks for those wonderful years of yesterday.
I used to watch these reruns back in the 70's, even then, I knew they were from the 50's, but loved to watch them anyway! And Howdy Doody, too! I am 43 now. REALLY glad I had a chance to watch tis tuff, kids nowadays should be getting into these old shows, at least the girls weren't doing pole dances like they are now in kid's shows, lol!!
I'm still in love with Annette. I used to wait for her to appear on my 9" screen. Most American boys felt the same way. It was our secret for many years...
Fess Parker died today at the age of 85, He was born in Ft. Worth, Tx. on August 16, 1924, and he graduated from the University of Texas.
His running buddy on "Davy Crockett," Buddy Ebsen, died on July 6, 2003. Buddy went by George Russell. Buddy was to play the tin man in the "Wizard of Oz", but he had bad reactions to the make-up. He was replaced by Jack Haley.
Fess Parker's bit in the movie "Them" will also never be forgotten. Two great actors gone.
@Rrwmissouri WHY in the world was your comment flagged as spam?? I think it was a great comment! I visited Fess Parker's winery in Santa Ynez. That was a year before he died. They told me he sometimes comes into the tasting room and maybe the next time I came by there, he might be there. Wish I could have met him!
@56Mercgal , I all so wish I could have meet Fess Parker before he passed away...he will be missed... I enjoyed him as Davey Crockett, and later Daniel Boone which I didn't know he had played untill about 3 yrs ago when the TV show came out on DVD. I'm 42 now and glad for all the memories from these shows.
Keep in mind ,Tv was young then, there were alot of first time things to do. Thats what kept our interest , first time to see a Davy Crockett series , first time to watch Disneyland on TV. So alot of it was that first time effect, which by now has been done 1000 times over .
I guess this was in syndication when I watched it in the mid-60's, but I couldn't wait to get home from school to watch it. I liked the Annette serial & the Hardy Boys.
maliwyoming, I have to disagree with you! "Davy Crockett" is certainly far from 'unwatchable.' I love watching it and know many people that do. Great video, sure brings back memories! I was pretty little when the Mickey Mouse Club was on, but I remember it. Maybe from the reruns, I'm not sure. But my older brother & sister watched the show all the time. Because of that, our little brother, who is now 51 got his name. Our mom & dad couldn't come up with a name. My mother told my dad she would name him Elvis if he didn't come up with a name. So my brother & sister came up with the name Marty from The Adventures of Spin and Marty.
So many thanks. This vid is like visiting lost family and friends. I remember the original disneyland show on Sunday nights. Everyone in the neightborhood was at home, glued to the b&w screen. When I die I want to go the Magic Kingdom.
