@itskragus I like a handful of songs off of their first 3 albums, and they are definitely worth getting, especially since they are cheaper. To me,The Beautiful Letdown and everything after that is just pure gold, practically every song is freaking amazing

Wow, so it seems to some people that being a christian m = not having any fun. I like it! And as one who is generally turned off by the label "Christian Music" (despite being a Christian!) I totally understand why they dont want there music packaged that way! IF i formed a band with a bunch of guys i knew from Church I would want to make music that was personal to me and intended for everyone... switchfoot is amazing along with a new christian band called Red Letter Hymnal. They both have awesome songs on youtube and itunes too for that matter
All the "Christian band/ non-christian band" talk notwithstanding, this song sucked. They didn't bring anything to the arrangement except a rock feel; any two bit producer could do that. Foo Fighters, Black Keys, Rise Against, heck even John Mayer could've rendered a more original interpretation. Don't get me wrong Switchfoot has their greats (Gone, Mean to live etc.) but this was poor. I don't think they really tried. Maybe they did it as a lark.
@lordsxman If you've seen them do this live, where they medley it with Gone, it's pretty sweet. They literally froze mid-song for over a minute; Jon standing on a monitor, Tim with his bass behind his head, Jerome with his face on the keyboard, etc. It was pretty solid.

If you wiki them, Jon clearly states that THEY ARE a Christian band, but that "labeling" them as a Christian band tends to be a box that closes out other listeners. They want their music to be for everyone, to show that the love of God goes beyond a church building, or a label.
So there you go people, look it up, talk to Jon, listen to his music, and get to know what they stand for.
Ok Switchfoot originally started out as a Christian band, like with there first three albums now they prefer to be a rock, pop, alternative band. So they are and are not Christian band
They kind of told the world that they were Christians and they said that all of their songs have Christian meanings. At the same time, they said that they don't want to be a strictly Christian band because they don't want to alienate anyone. If that's what you were referring to, then maybe you're right. Otherwise, they definitely said they're Christians and their songs definitely have Christian connotations.

I like it! And as one who is generally turned off by the label "Christian Music" (despite being a Christian!) I totally understand why they dont want there music packaged that way! IF i formed a band with a bunch of guys i knew from Church I would want to make music that was personal to me and intended for everyone... I wouldnt just want to write Jesus songs and do gigs in chapels.... that would suck

switchfoot is amazing along with a new christian band called Red Letter Hymnal. They both have awesome songs on youtube and itunes too for that matter

All the "Christian band/ non-christian band" talk notwithstanding, this song sucked. They didn't bring anything to the arrangement except a rock feel; any two bit producer could do that. Foo Fighters, Black Keys, Rise Against, heck even John Mayer could've rendered a more original interpretation. Don't get me wrong Switchfoot has their greats (Gone, Mean to live etc.) but this was poor. I don't think they really tried. Maybe they did it as a lark.

@lordsxman If you've seen them do this live, where they medley it with Gone, it's pretty sweet. They literally froze mid-song for over a minute; Jon standing on a monitor, Tim with his bass behind his head, Jerome with his face on the keyboard, etc. It was pretty solid.

Ok listen up people! If you're wondering wether or not switchfoot is a Christian band, keep reading this post!
If you wiki them, Jon clearly states that THEY ARE a Christian band, but that "labeling" them as a Christian band tends to be a box that closes out other listeners. They want their music to be for everyone, to show that the love of God goes beyond a church building, or a label.
So there you go people, look it up, talk to Jon, listen to his music, and get to know what they stand for.

They kind of told the world that they were Christians and they said that all of their songs have Christian meanings. At the same time, they said that they don't want to be a strictly Christian band because they don't want to alienate anyone. If that's what you were referring to, then maybe you're right. Otherwise, they definitely said they're Christians and their songs definitely have Christian connotations.
