@jadaskylar u can hold them as soon as they are born, but dont hold them for too long, dont wanna get too much of ur sent on them or the mother will reject them.

Not to correct you but when guinea pigs have babies, yes you can hold them as soon as their born but it is not true that you can't hold them for a long time, & that she will reject them. She will not and never will reject her babies, unlike some small animals/rodents like bunnies.

@Dinomiters i'm just saying what my vet and local guinea pig shelter have told me. It's happened a few times to surrendered guinea pigs at the animal shelter, but luckily they have a few female guinea pigs there willing to take care of other babies.

Awwww... I remember when my little piggie "Badger" was that small. They're so cute and curious about everything. I got lucky, my little man's over a year old now and he still has that same inquisitive personality lol

@leaprodigy Nope. Guinea pigs don't have much of a smell, and the smell that they do have is pretty fresh and clean. Of course, if you don't clean their cage as often as you should, the cage will begin to smell, and you'll both suffer from that.

I have to males, Norman and Dave they are lovely and very funny :) Guinea Pigs prefer to be with other Guinea pigs so they don't get lonely.

@tyana153 Average litter size is 1-4 but can be as many as 7 or more. Breeding guinea pigs is NOT recommended. Guinea pig sows have an extremely high risk of pregnancy complications because the babies are born large and ready to run. Breeding after 8 months of age is USUALLY FATAL for a guinea pig who has not had a previous litter due to dystocia.

Please don't breed guinea pigs. Find a local rescue and adopt a couple of guinea pigs rather than breed.
