@bodebldr2000 Doesn't actually NEED it, but your engine will run lean due to the increased air flow and turn your "check engine" light on. You can turn it off, but it will come back. That's what happened to me and a lot of other people.
@YourMKArcadeSource I put mine on today, no tune. Runs good but id love a tune done on it to increase my HP. I cant see dropping 300+ bucks on a bully dog right now. Hopefully ill find someone that can do it for me.
@TheCottonTop Of course it has no bottom. Where do you think the cold air is coming from? It's sealed around the top by the hood. If the bottom was closed off too, then you wouldn't get ANY air flow. Oh, and this kit is $279.
The front of the BBK shroud is supposed to go under the radiator support plate where you lift up the plastic to show @2:00. That plate gets unbolted and the shroud goes under it, then that plate gets bolted back down. No parts were missing.
hey I just installed the BBK cold air intake that doesnt require a tune onto my 2007 GT, and after the install when i began to drive it around I could here like a suction nose. When i investigated, it sounded like it came from the air filter. I checked all the couplers for leaks and stuff...but i didnt find any? so i was wondering if that suction noise is what is suppose to happen or did i install it wrong? the noise is strongest at low RPMs when the engine doesnt drone out the sound?
@JonathanRattayGT It will most likely cause the car to run lean and your check engine light will come on. I HIGHLY recommend getting a custom tune. You'll never look back.
@YourMKArcadeSource I put it on today without a tune and it ran good for like 5 mins only idling funny once i got on it and it put me back in my seat even broke them lose in 3rd but i tried again after letting it idle for 5 mins and the engine would rev but it wouldent go anywear so i just put the stock intake back on
@JonathanRattayGT Did you get the correct tune and put the correct octane gas in the car? Also, you can use the tuner to adjust idle, but the tune should have done that automatically. Were you careful when swapping over the mass air sensor?
Actually I installed the same BBK CAI on my 2008 Mustang, check my vids. Anyway, that second bolt you think your missing, actually your supposed to pull the rubber joint off that bolt or pin then side that box over it the recover it like it was before you took it off and it should fit better and you shouldn't need extra parts :) hope you get it working!
Thanks. I haven't had the chance to get it on the dyno yet. It's only supposed to increase power after you hit the 3-4000 RPM range. It's quoted as saying 15-30 HP increase, but without the dyno, it's hard to tell. It definitely has more
get up and go," but I need to get it on the dyno to know for sure.
yea thats what i was thinking, it should increase them somewhat but nothing crazy. dude fi you have the money though, sometime look into a custom tune from bamachips or fastlaneinc or any thing liek that, that will really open you car so that you can really feal the difference
Can You install Just the filter on the Stock hose?

did it have to be tuned?
bodebldr2000 7 months ago
@bodebldr2000 Yes. BBK says that it doesn't require a tune, but that's not true.

@YourMKArcadeSource really? damn, nice to know that! Thanks

Your box has no bottom! All that engine heat, what a shame. I like my $300 Airaid CAD vs. this god knows how much CAI.

@JonathanRattayGT Oh, sorry. I mis-read your other comment. You gotta use a tune.

u just lost the second bolt, it should be there
gunmetal0209 2 years ago
@gunmetal0209 No, the kit doesn't come with any bolts and the factory box didn't use the one I am missing. It's no big deal.
